Sad to hear you're leaving AWOL as a captain Tristan, is the crew staying with AWOL or moving with you? Like I said when you started your vlog it was great watching your captainship and crew overall. I watch haulover inlet on RUclips with different vessels crossing and entering hopefully seeing AWOL on her first trip.
Yea bitter sweet indeed. I have really really really enjoyed this channel from the beginning, Tristan and the adventures of AWOL around the Med.. Really hope you are not leaving us high and dry and you captain another fine vessel for all of us to live vicariously through you!!! Best of luck Tristan!!
Tristan leaving AWOL? I am super-bummed. Hopefully you are moving onto something bigger and better. And hopefully you'll be able to continue your VLOGs and keep us up to date.
Wow, a lot going on with this video. The emotion of a chapter closing for you, the meeting of the new AWOL captain, a very pleasant fellow and tour guide, the talent of the tug boats, the bridges and finally the awesome scenery. Thank you for showing the world to me and the rest of your fans. Blessings to you and hope to see you on the high seas very soon. Again, thank you.

Thanks for the wonderful videos of you and the crew on AWOL. It's been a great escape from life in the City (London) and appreciate the longer video getting tugged and spending the last few moments onboard. I love the scene where the new captain is introduced. Both captains have their head on a swivel as they watch out even though they are under tow. This shows the 100% dedication this type of profession requires.
It is with a heavy heart I say bye to AWOL, I wish the new crew all the best. But I actually follow you and your adventures. I will watch with anticipation for the new adventure.
I was born and raised in Ft. Lauderdale and if I'm not mistaken, that sharp right turn towards the end of your video was a peninsula shaped like the state of Florida. There's a Dinner cruise on the Intracoastal Waterway called the Jungle Queen and they point that out every time they pass it. P.S. You're in a good area to find another Captains gig!
Ahoy there, Captain Tristram!!! I have so enjoyed your videos and hope this not the end of our voyage? You and Giv have so much more to do and I look forward to your next move. Fair winds…
Absolutely brilliant video Tristan and thank you so much for posting it. Your replacement on AWOL sounds a very experienced and knowledgeable Captain and I.m sure a very interesting guy. Definitely a bittersweet moment, I have so enjoyed following the adventures of you, the crew, and AWOL! Wishing you nothing but huge successes wherever the next steps along your journey might take you!
Great video to the end of your life on AWOL. Difficult to walk away, but new adventures are just waiting to be found. Between the boats and the homes the trip up the New River is a Billion Dollar ride.
I'm going to miss seeing you and AWOL on the channel. Thank you for many great insights into the world of superyachts. I wish you well in your future endeavors.
I Sure hope that you leaving AWOL isn't the end of your videos. Pontoon boats are pretty much river or lake boats designed to pack as many fiends and family aboard as possible. It's so bittersweet watching these videos and knowing that you've been off AWOL after handing her over to Chris for about two weeks. I truly hope you get a nice yacht to command and a continuation of the SYC vlog!
Tristan l want to say how much i appreciate your kind words and excellent attitude in regards to the U.S. and public in this video. Seems like it has become the "in-thing" to bash Americans and our lands. I enjoyed you generally being excited and interested in the things you were witnessing on the video. Thank you so much for this vlog. Like so many, it'll be sad saying goodbye to AWOL, but we're really here for you. All the best, we can't wait to hear what's next for you!
I watched with a big smile on my face for the whole video. So cool Tristan got to experience SOME of the southern section of the Intercostal. I was fortunate to crew on a 116' Feadship (my dad was the captain) and do the ICW from Ft Lauderdale to Washing D.C. I was born and raised in Hollywood, FLA which is located between Miami and Ft. Lauderdale. My dads hangout was Bahia Mar Marina. ;)
Thanks. But I am sure neither you or your father would label a 116 feet yacht a "super yacht". I just sailed on a Perini Navi yacht from Sardegna to Malta and then to the Croatian coast. But I would never say I was on a super yacht. It is a very beautiful sailing yacht but that's about it.
@@derstolperjochen1719 I'm confused, where did I say the 116' Feadship was a supper yacht? GENERALLY speaking, super yachts draw to much to do the ICW. Draft It's the main reason you wont see to many "super yacht's on the East coast of the US, it's not that they are unaffordable to East coasters.
This brings back such great memories when we lived in Hollywood FL. Congratulations on your time aboard Awol. Looking forward to seeing the new adventures yet to come. Happy journey Cpt Chris.
That was truly fascinating! Having only done boating of off the English coast! That was just exquisite to watch! May I wish the new captain good luck and of course you in what ever new adventures you and your good lady may have in store!! Bon Voyage!
I was a mate going down the same Canal we didn’t have her steering system connected and we’re getting towed by tugs. The rudders flipped causing the tugboats to fight Against the big boat. I ran down to the the rudders and used come along to straighten them out. We almost hit a party boat. I know this water way too well. We where all safe. Great video 👍😎
Thank you Tristan for all your videos !! I'm sure you will be quickly moving onto your next step in life . I wonder who the next lucky owner will be to have you as their captain . All the best bud !!!
Wishing you all the best and a smooth transition in to the next chapter of your life! Chris seems to be a very nice chap. Wishing him all the best too.
Following your journey from Europe all the way to Florida has been very interesting, loving the content lately and looking forward to more! Thanks captain
Well!! That's a surprise!! Did I miss something? I've watched and enjoyed most of your videos, but had no idea you were leaving AWOL! As some one else wrote - "One door closes to allow another to open" I certainly wish you well in your future and am sure all will work out well for you !
Wow, that place is what lottery dreams are made off. Thank you for taking us along for the ride Tristan, will wait with baited breath in the hope you achieve another great job. Look forward to your next vlog, love how you put everything in terms we can follow and understand. Canal with a difference and not a narrowboat in site.

I feel safer now on board because your videos. Big warm wish from Spain the place that every start with you and Marina Marbella. Hope to see you soon Tristan. Thanks a lot. Gracias Tristán. Te echaré de menos.
Tristan makes this vlog, the AWOL could have been any big yacht. I am so excited to see what comes next. If my wife ever wins the LOTTO, I want a place on the water in that area with 60ish foot yacht. In the mean time, I'll keep up with Tristan.
@@chrisntheboat guess you caught me, I'm not a "true boater" since all my sea time was spent on 450' and larger ships. In my defense, I only spent 20 years doing that, so probably just didn't have time to learn "true boater". I'm glad you were able to demonstrate your superiority. In the mean time, I'll keep enjoying Tristan's vlogs, and the other boating fishing related videos I've come to love watching.
Tristan, I've been watching this channel for ages and I am surprised by the news of your separation from AWOL. I do sincerely hope you find a new captain position soon (maybe you already have?) and start a new adventure and channel. Keep on punching my friend. Cheers.
Tristan mentioned that AWOL was for sale long ago and he's mentioned time and again how great an owner the person he worked for was, so I've always assumed he'd moved to that person's replacement yacht. But he's never even hinted about what that yacht might be or if his plans have changed. I hope that, whatever the future brings him, he'll bring us along with him; otherwise, I'll miss his videos far more than I'll miss AWOL. I went through boat separation remorse with M/Y Arience, so I'm prepped for that.
@@mvr060944 He's already said in the discussion tab of the home page that the owner is not buying another yacht at this time. So is Tristan is gonna Captain again it will be under a new owner.
Awesome video! This is especially noteworthy for me as I live in this area, and regularly go across those bridges with barely a second thought. This video has shown me just how special and unique this part of Florida is, and has given me a greater appreciation of how fortunate we are. You don't have to be a billionaire to be able to savor the beauty of the river and surroundings. Just need to slow down and look around. Was quite interesting to see the Jamaican flag on the yacht that passed them! Truly cosmopolitan.
Tristen, I think it's now long overdue that you tell us all what is in store for the future. A new boat? Something completely different? Please let us know.
Ohh Tristram lm sitting watching with a lump in my throat, lm going to miss AWOL , lm hoping life for you all will sort itself out & hopefully you will be back at home in the Mediterranean very soon.
I have watched your videos from start to now and have enjoyed them and learned a lot. What your future will be is a question mark for many, a new direction which I find difficult to believe as you have "yachting" in your blood from an early age. I bet a new career on a new yacht. Anyway, it was a real pleasure to follow you all in the daily doings on board. Next month (December) my new car will be delivered and you can guess which number plate will be on it, correct: AWOL ;-)
Welcome to the U.S.A. Tristen. It has been a pleasure watching your channel while on AWOL. I have seen and learned so much from you. I hope you continue to have a life the rest of us can only dream of. Lets Go Brandon!!!
So sorry to see your departure, thank you for all the pleasure you have give to me over the years, are you keeping the channel going with the next chapter of your life? Good luck.
That was lovely. My husband and I spent a weekend in Ft. Lauderdale in February and took an electric boat tour there. I console myself about not being able to afford the houses by knowing they flood every king tide.
The sharp bend before your yard destination may have been known as Sailboat Bend. I was first mate on a Fedship. We left Bahia Mar for Broward Marine yard to have maintenance done which was located at Sailboat Bend. At that time Sailboat Bend was a small open public park. People fished for Tarpon there. This was about 1970. It all looks very different now. I’m looking forward to more from you channel. Best of luck going forward. Thanks for sharing your adventure.
Arrives in Florida! In reality, AWOL has been there in Florida for several weeks. I downloaded ShipFinder and can see it there in Fort Lauderdale opposite Bill Keith Reserve. The ship that brought it there, Yacht Express, is back in Genoa already. All like a strange time shift. Wish you all the best Tristan and thanks for all your great videos.
When you get a new captains job, we'll be here waiting on the videos of the new yacht. Its sad to see your time on Awol come to and end, but we all new it was a possibility, when you announced that it was for sale. We'll be here waiting and we'll leave the light on for you.
Hi , and I thought your winter lay up canal in Italy was narrow . Those tow guys know just how to do it . Thanks for the videos through out your adventures around the Med and hope you find another boat to be a captain , you run a great ship .
I stumbled across this channel while looking for Formula 1 racing videos. Here was this young guy, casually slipping into Monaco *during race weekend!* I assumed he must have been ex-navy to be so cool under pressure. Eventually I found out how Tristan first learned his maritime skills washing and preparing boats for new owners because the sales team were too busy.
I grew up about an hour north of the LMC in the Landings area, near Lauderdale by the Sea. I learned to boat up and down the ICW as a kid piloting a Boston Whaler with my Grandfather, and occasionally a 45 foot Criscraft. Brings back alot of memories seeing the sights as you made way to the LMC. If memory serves me right Tristan is engaged to the LOVELY young lady we saw half way through. I hope wherever you transfer that she will be coming with you. I suspect you may be taking a bit of a vacation with her before reporting to your next port of call and new ship. Blessings to you both and look forward to an update on the next video!
I have to say, I have enjoyed every video you have made. I am sad that I only discovered the channel within the last year (thanks COVID for that bit of extra time). I can only say I enjoyed AWOL but I don't think it is the boat but the Captain that makes the channel. I seriously hope you have plans that include the continued sharing of an amazing and adventurous life. THANK YOU so much for sharing that. Welcome to the U.S. and glad we were at least give you a bit of a "WOW" factor. That says a lot coming from a guy that makes his living on a private yacht in some of the most exotic places in the world. Whatever you do get up to, best of luck and thanks again!

Thank you Tristan for your wonderful videos, I think you are a great captain, you like and live with passion your profession of captain as well as worrying about knowing how your boat works and all the details and you are very good at explaining what the function of the anchor is, you are a didactic . I hope that you will soon publish your experiences on another ship or in whatever your profession takes you. LUCK and NOT CIAO, but SEE YOU SOON !!

@@derstolperjochen1719 he didn't say it once
@@derstolperjochen1719 I'm confused, where did I say the 116' Feadship was a supper yacht? GENERALLY speaking, super yachts draw to much to do the ICW. Draft It's the main reason you wont see to many "super yacht's on the East coast of the US, it's not that they are unaffordable to East coasters.

Hello to Chris! Thank you for taking us up river with you. Be safe and welcome to the USA.
Bon Voyage!
I have loved watching you and your adventures. Please keep us up to date on your new adventures whether by sea or land.
Have enjoyed your time on AWOL and the Atlantic journey, so whats next Tristan ?
Wishing you all the best and a smooth transition in to the next chapter of your life! Chris seems to be a very nice chap. Wishing him all the best too.
Following your journey from Europe all the way to Florida has been very interesting, loving the content lately and looking forward to more! Thanks captain
Bittersweet. We have loved following you and Awol! Hope more amazing adventures are coming your way!
I hope you and the crew are all well. Hope to see you soon on the same or new channel. Good luck and best wishes.
I love yachts and its been a real treat following AWOL and its crew. Thank you Tristan for the journey!
Have so enjoyed being informed about your ventures ....will miss you!!!!...wish you alllllll the best...on your new future...don't cry...very emotional....good luck Tristan
I’m shock about your leaving. I’m a Spanish captain of our family owned Prestige 50” and I learn so much from you with your videos that I will really miss you.
In the first place a true boater won't use "60ish" to describe anything on the water, not even a cougar.
@@markshutt1476 Everybody has a story, yours is a fish story.
Tristan! Thanks for all the great content I really hope you keep us viewers posted on your future projects.
Enjoyed watching you and the crew on AWOL. Can not wait for the next adventure.
It's been known for quite awhile now and even did a series showing the transport of AWOL (on a transport vessel) from across the Atlantic.
@@mvr060944 He's already said in the discussion tab of the home page that the owner is not buying another yacht at this time. So is Tristan is gonna Captain again it will be under a new owner.
@@JCrook1028Thanks for the update - although it's not anywhere near the update I'd hoped for.
Love your videos. Really hope you and your crew find another yacht. Hope you keep the channel going. Wish you and your crew the very best.
I was going to type the same then saw this post.. Is there a new boat??
Same, tell all!
Absolutely, hopefully a new boat! But maybe he is going on land with his fiancee, rising kids and stuff 🙂
I think the clue is in " Mortlock Yachts Limited"
Good luck.
Amazing seeing you and AWOL cruising the Ft. Lauderdale waterways! Enjoy your time in the states.
That was lovely. My husband and I spent a weekend in Ft. Lauderdale in February and took an electric boat tour there. I console myself about not being able to afford the houses by knowing they flood every king tide.
Strangely exciting video. Good luck in your adventures. I hope we can catch up with you again soon. Thanks for the voyage along with you.
Finally got to see this New River! Thanks Tristan. You're a free Captain in free Florida, congratulations! The freest place on Earth right now.
I'm surprise as it seems that You are Captain. I enjoy so much Your Awol videos. Thank You so much and really hope to see You soon !
Brilliant . I did a tour of that area in Ft Lauderdale 31 years ago. Brought back some happy memories .
Hope you get a nice yacht for the new season
When you get a new captains job, we'll be here waiting on the videos of the new yacht. Its sad to see your time on Awol come to and end, but we all new it was a possibility, when you announced that it was for sale. We'll be here waiting and we'll leave the light on for you.
Hi , and I thought your winter lay up canal in Italy was narrow . Those tow guys know just how to do it . Thanks for the videos through out your adventures around the Med and hope you find another boat to be a captain , you run a great ship .
Thank you so much for sharing this last run on AWOL with us Tristan. Super cool series to have watched! (Sniff)……….
So sorry to see you go. All the best to you
Hello Tristen from the west coast of America 👋 Sad to see your time ending on M/Y AWOL but myself and I'm sure every single other person will follow you on your new adventure!
Enjoy the sun and the warm florida. :D Best greets from 0°C cold Germany. And thank you for sharing this epic Tour.
Very impressive towing job - beautiful. The magic of youtube - you can take a trip without leaving the farm .
Chris seems like a dope guy, AWOL is in good hands
Loved this video. I'm from southern Georgia and my son lives in New Port Richey FL on the river. I have gone fishing many times with him and taken the trip from their home to the Gulf of Mexico. It was great to see the Eastern side of the state and the intercoastal water way.
Welcome to the US and we will miss you on AWOL. Best of luck Tristen
Hi Tristan! Your videos inspired me so much, but it is too late, to make my Dream come true! i am just a Freetime Captain and i enjoy every minute of my one week journey by charter. Thank you for giving me the taste of the world!
Amazing. All the best.
What a beautiful place! Can't wait to see it myself!!! See you soon Captain T 😎🤙🏻
Glad I got to share this part of you career. Looking forward to what follows.
I won't lie im from the Caribbean but my god the houses by the river is so beautiful especially the 1s overlooking the big building im in love.
Have loved the Atlantic crossing blogs. Hope you’re on a new ship soon
Welcome to South Florida! I’m glad you like it 💯
Hope you’re moving on to bigger and better yachts! Best of luck to you!
I can't begin to explain how enjoyable that was to watch, what a beautiful place. Now the sad part, you're leaving Awol. I'm sure we'll find out in due course what the next chapter in your career will be. The very best of luck captain. I for one, like many others, hope to be able to continue along with you for your next venture. Thank you Tristan for everything you have done for us, and shown us via the channel thus far. Once again, good luck to you sir. Marcus, United Kingdom.
Thank you Tristan and wish you well for everything that might be next. Truly amazing channel, keep it up!
Thanks for the Water Taxi shot! Great to meet you. I wish you well on your future endeavors.
I go up the New River nearly every week. The view/ experience never gets old. Welcome AWOL
Saw AWOL in person today at LMC. She looks beautiful.
An amazing place - but sooo man made - but so amazing in its way
Great to see the tug people and how professional they are
Good luck to you and all the crew - new and old - hope the future goes well
Thank you Tristan for your wonderful videos, I think you are a great captain, you like and live with passion your profession of captain as well as worrying about knowing how your boat works and all the details and you are very good at explaining what the function of the anchor is, you are a didactic . I hope that you will soon publish your experiences on another ship or in whatever your profession takes you. LUCK and NOT CIAO, but SEE YOU SOON !!
Love AWOL, thank you so much. Good luck for your future.
All the very best for the future Skipper. Looking forward to your next adventure if you are kind enough to share it with us. Cheers 🥂
