I’m not someone who tends to feel a deep sense of loss when my favourite musicians die. They’re not my friends, they’re not my family. But there are a few exceptions. One was Freddie Mercury, because he made the world a better place. Another was Ronnie James Dio, because of his huge talent and the fact that I met him when I was 15 and he was the perfect gentleman. And lastly there was Lemmy. Because he stood for something greater than the music, a way of living your life the way YOU want to and fuck anyone who says differently. I miss him.
i've met someone who hates Motorhead...my wife so a useful tool to have. "If you don't let me go to the pub i'll play some Motorhead"..."okay you can go to the pub". Anyway i agreed with Lemmy that the band released better albums after Ace Of Spades and, for me, their best and heaviest is Sacrifice. Back in the day i played a game of pool against Lemmy (and lost) in a pub near the Rainbow Theatre in London when Motorhead (prior to the band becoming big stars here in the U.K.) and Budgie were on the same bill...great days. God i feel old!!
Motorhead AND Budgie on the same bill?. Bloody hell!. Were you deaf for days or weeks afterwards?. Budgie were great live, always worth watching. Aside from the Wallis/Fox line-up, I saw every line-up over the years. Only the Robbo show was less than stellar, but even that was pretty damn fine. 'Another Perfect Day' has grown on me over the intervening years. Post AOS?, my favourite is 'We Are Motorhead'
I'm sure i must have been deaf and now i have intermittent tinnitus. Still can't complain i guess. I agree that Another Perfect Day is a real 'grower'.
1. Overkill 2. Iron fist 3. Ace of spades 4. Another perfect day 5. Motorhead 6. March or die 7. Inferno Honour mention: Kiss of death! It was an anvil on my life when it came out!! Cheers everyone! Thanks Pete!
I’ve been to a lot of concerts in my life all hard rock and heavy metal, all loud as you can imagine. No band that I’ve ever heard was as loud as Motörhead. A Motörhead concert is a deafening roar of awesomeness and power!🤘🏻
Great vid! I didn't get into Motorhead until about 5 years ago at the recommendation of a friend and absolutely love it. I avoided them for years because of Lemmy's voice being so different but now love it. It was awesome to see how dedicated he was to the band and fans to carry on literally to the end of his life.
Love your channel Pete! Great ranking! Just want to add the four albums you missed in the ranking, with a few songs from each album that is great: Kiss of death from 2006 - Devil I know, Trigger, God was never on your side Motörizer from 2008 - Rock out The wörld is yours from 2010 - Devils in my head Aftershock 2013 from - Dust and glass.
Perhaps the only band ever who never lost their 'band of the people" status. Lemmy was like the spirit of every rock fan in the world made into flesh: one of us who was somehow up their doing it. What an underrated lyricist he was as well. Wise and funny guy who led several versions of a great band.
Funny, I've had "Overnight Sensation" since the late 90s and never really listened to it until Lemmy's passing. Turned out that I missed something. Personally I think that it's really great.
@@JCStorm76 I agree. I was kind of bummed when it was the first one up. I thought it was one of the more original sounding albums in their later years. I love I Don't a Believe Word, Love Can't Buy You Money, the punky title track, hell there isn't a bum track on it.
Awesome album! I was sold on it when it first came out, and I still love it and listen to it regularly! So much variation, from ´Crazy like a fox´ to ´Shake the world´, and still it holds together very well as an album.
I'm slowly buying every album, ep and live album I can but so far as in studio albums, Overnight Sensation is easily the best. love it from beginning to end.
Great review, Pete. You hit it on the head when you said that sometimes an album hits you because of where you were at the time. I bought Iron Fist when it came out, based on the cover alone. Loved it. But then Another Perfect Day came out and I was blown away. For me it is their best. Never quite understood why it was so panned at the time. I always thought that there were hints of psychedelia that hearkened back to the Hawkwind days and that stepping out of the box made for an exhilarating album. Again, thank you for your list!
Brilliant, love your videos rating albums. Lot of people trying to do the same thing, but you're simply the best. Really enjoy your videos, and most of the time totally agree with your opinion... Keep up the good work, love it!
Great video Pete. I like Motörhead but I only have Ace Of Spades & Bomber. They sure have a ton of studio albums. I enjoyed your insight into their discography.
Spot on, on the top 3...Overkill is a classic...and I remember meeting Lemmy at the marquee club in London in the early 80s...he was always there with the fans etc...knocking back the vodka and orange...and he said how much he loved and was influenced by ZZ Top, eg No Class.
Bomber is my number one By the way, Bomber is one of the my all time favorites 1 - Bomber 2 - Overkill 3 - Motörhead 4 - Another Perfect Day 5 - Iron Fist I love Ace of Spades either but I dont like the mixer, the guitar strident sound over satured on treble. I prefer Motorhead sounding heavy such as Bomber and Overkill instead to sounding more speed than usual. I would love 12 tracks sounding as like The Chase is Better Than Catch.
you got my top three...'capricorn' is actually my favorite motorhead song...another great video pete...be well...be safe...(...'and don't forget the joker'...)....peace....
My 1st Motörhead was "Snakebite Love". I actually bought in a 2-Pack with "Overnight Sensation". The reason I bought it was the title track which I had on a promo sampler that came with a Magazine. I didn't care much for Motörhead before that, to be honest. That changed in the last 10, 15 years or so. I did know some older songs before "Snakebite Love". But I didn't take to them then, however. I don't have all of them. I bought "We're Motörhead" and "Hammered" when they came out. Then I basically stopped buying their new Albums because I didn't care for these two records. I did like some of the older stuff I bought around that time better. I don't have all of them. I rank the ones I know (with two ommissions): 16. Hammered: I basically only remember "The Game". The other Songs just came and left. 15. We're Motörhead: More or less the same as with "Hammered". It's just three songs instead of one that stuck with me. 14. Sacrifice: It's kinda nice but it doesn't really stick out to me. I rarely listen to it. 13. Motörhead: I mostly agree with your points on it. 12. March ör Die: Bought in another 2-Pack with "1916". I listened mostly to the latter back then and discarded this one. I listened more to it in recent years and it's very decent in my opinion. 11. Bastards: One of my earliest Albums by them. I like it quite a bit. But the others are more to my liking. I heard that it you couldn't buy it in the US back in the day. 10. Snakebite Love: My 1st. Still love it. It just happened that some of the Albums I bought later (or listened to later in the case of "Overnight Sensation") are even better to me. 9. Iron Fist: Some great tunes. But probably the weakest of the classic Albums by them. I like the others more. 8. Bomber: Great Album. Maybe a bit raw because it came very soon after "Overkill". I think it could've been even better had they put more time into it. 7. Bad Magic: I reorientated Career-wise a couple of years ago. One of my teachers was a fan, too. He told me that this is a masterpiece. I bought it & had to agree. It wasn't the 1st newer Album I bought after stopping because of not really liking "We're Motörhead" & "Hammered" so I had some more incentive to do so. More later. Love that one, though. 6. "Overnight Sensation": Like I've said, I only started listening to it after Lemmy died. I basically just listened to Motörhead for 2 months. And fuck, I loved that one. 5. Orgasmatron: Love it. My mother listened to Motörhead. Like I said, I didn't care much for them at first. With the exception of the title track. Another early Album for me after I started listening to them. 4. 1916: That's a Killer to me. I bought because of the titletrack (again). I love from top to bottom. It's one of the Albums I've listened to most in my life. 3. Ace of Spades: Another classic. I don't really have anything to add to your reasons, Pete. 2. Overkill: Same here. And now for the big surprise. My number one is actually the 1st newer Album I bought again after stopping to buy their new stuff. What got me interested was one song that appeared in my RUclips-Autoplay while listening to some of their older stuff. I thought that it was from a Soundtrack to "Sons of Anarchy" because the Video was presented in such a way. And maybe it's on the Soundtrack, I don't know. I listnened to that Song again and again. And someday I checked wether they put it on one of their Albums. I bought it. I love it. I can listen to it all day without getting tired of it. I love every fucking Song on it. 1. The Wörld is Yours The Song appearing on my Autotune was "Brotherhood of Man". I highly recommend to check out this one. I've bought "Motörizer" and "Aftershock" pretty recently. I've only listened to each once and can't yet rank them. Another great Show, Pete. Thank you.
Motörhead - Legends ! My all time favorite album is ACE OF SPADES ♠️ Classic album! I also love the song THE GAME! HHH ! The other Motörhead albums are great as well. R.I.P. Lemmy!
i love these lists because they're always so different from person to person, for the sake of brevity i'll list my top 5. in no particular order: Bastards, Sacrifice, Another Perfect Day, Bomber, and of course Ace of Spades. An honorable mention goes to Inferno. Great video good sir!
Really surprised by Overnight Sensation being so low. I love that album a lot more than I ever did some others like Snake Bite Love, or March or Die. I still rank Overnight Sensation higher than a lot of their more recent albums, for the same reason that I didn't form an attachment with them(as I was buying albums from other bands)even though I have every Motorhead album. The last Motorhead album that really blew me away as Inferno.
I read somewhere that they of course were going for the old wild west look but since they were in England, they used an old slag heap somewhere in the coal mining area of the UK to stand in. Works for me!
Great video, Pete! I tend to favor some of the more recent material, perhaps because the production value is better. "Inferno" is my favorite Motorhead album, with "We Are Motorhead" and "Overnight Sensation" following behind. I really enjoy "Snakebite Love" as well, even though it might have a bit more of a commercial leaning. Can't go wrong with any of them, though!
And I do remember the Queen lookalike coming onstage during Motörhead’s set...don’t remember much about the gig as we were all stoned on vodka and weed on our coach from London to Bingley Hall.
I was there and was that pissed I led on the floor until Motorhead came on and then fell into a load of bikers .my mates were loving watching me make a dick of myself. I had just turned 18. Saw the original line up 16 times
Inferno is my favorite overall album. They have so many great songs in the catalog, its hard to pick. Inferno is great for getting to an appointment on time and on all roadtrips. Overall I'm surprised we agreed so much, I think we'd have had identical lists if working on this as a project. Just got my daughter the vinyl 'Everything Louder Forever' for Christmas, daddy can be cool if need be.
Pete, I love your videos and may I say you jam some killer bands and tunes. This is easily one of my favorite bands. There 90's work gets over looked but it's just as good as the early stuff. Love some Hawkwind too...
Love the fact that many people including Pete seem to dig another perfect day, one of my favourite Motorhead albums. Might even be my Number One Motorhead album come think of it.maybe Brian didnt have the right hair and he didnt dress like Lemmy & co but I think his playing was damn cool, melodic yet aggressive and It fit Motorhead like a glove.
My Top 22 Motorhead Albums. 22. Overnight Sensation 21. Motorized 20. Kiss of Death 19. The World is Yours 18. 1916 17. Aftershock 16. Snake Bite Love 15. Bad Magic 14. Hammered 13. March or Die 12. Bastards 11. We Are Motorhead 10. Inferno 9. Sacrifice 8. Orgasmatron 7. Iron Fist 6. Rock 'N' Roll 5. Another Perfect Day 4. Motorhead 3. Ace Of Spades (Not too Crazy about the Title Track) 2. Bomber 1. Overkill There isn't a Bad Album from this Band, took Me quite a while to get into this Band.
Great stuff as ever Pete. Now what about two speedy 'ranking the albums' if you've got a spare few minutes. Rival Sons and Black Country Communion! They should be two quick-ish shows to put together, but nontheless very interesting! 👍
Great list, Pete! Thanks for doing this list. I’ve asked at least 5 times for it and you finally delivered. I agree on ranking overkill over ace of spades. Iron fist for me would have been ranked at the bottom. The production failed them on that album and it was rushed.
Lemmy already had captured me during his time with Hawkwind and the albums he did with them are still my top Hawkwind albums (DOReMI...or Hall of the Mountain Grill). When he started Motorhead it was probably the hardest sound anyone had heard to that day played at that lightning speed. Their sound was unique and stayed unique until the end, Lemmy created a genre for himself. 1. Ace of Spades 2. Overkill 3. Motorhead (Ranked this high because I was there when it happened and it immediately convinced me that this was a great band coming. There was even some pre-release played on some radio shows in 1976 of the original sessions that came out later as On Parole. The title song, The Watcher and Lost Johnny had been previously appeared with Hawkwind - the new versions made clear where Lemmy was going with his own band) 4. Bomber 5. Orgasmatron 6. Rock 'n' Roll 7. 1916 8. Iron Fist 9. Bastards 10. Another Perfect Day 11. We Are Motorhead 12. Inferno 13. Sacrifice 14. Kiss of Death 15. Motorizer 16. Overnight Sensation 17. Snake Bite Love 18. March or Die 19. Bad Magic 20. Hammered 21 The World is Yours 22. Aftershock
Bomber and Overkill where my First Motörhead Albums! Best ever! I had a Lot all over 10 Albums! I was surprised as I didn't remember that how many! Not all but quite a Lot! Thx Pete! Like your Work!🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸
Great ranking Pete! Was curious to know where you'd place On Parole, their first recorded but only released after they'd "made it" platter? I really dig the bluesy vibe of the original Iron Horse/Born to Lose and stuff like the quite funny Vibrator.
Thanks for the video. One of my very favourite bands. I would have ranked their debut album and 1916 higher. I agree with Overkill. It is their best studio album with their best lineup. (Stone Dead Forever is my favourite Motörhead song. Any chance of a Top Ten Motörhead songs video?). Lemmy, Philthy and Fast Eddie. The real deal. RIP
Aftershock is good one. The opening track Heartbreaker is intense . Another Perfect Day was my first Motorhead album. Orgasmatron is probably my favorite. Very memorable to me in senior year of high school. Played it constantly.
Great list Pete! Motorhead has been my favorite band since I was 15, so I will do my top 10 excited! 1. Overkill (first album of theirs I bought at 15, made me fall in love with them ever since) 2. Ace of Spades 3. Bomber 4. Iron Fist 5. Another Perfect Day 6. Rock and Roll 7. Bastards 8. No Sleep Til Hammersmith 9. Self Titled 10. Inferno
Lemmy took the average kid and turned him into a star of his own. Motorhead was a favourite band to metalheads, punks and new wavers. Every album is good, love the classic stuff, "We are Motorhead" from 2000 maybe the best of the last 30 years.
I think you should go back and give "We Are Motorhead" another listen. I think that was ranks in the top 2. See Me Burning...Stay Out of Jail...Stage Fright...the title track. Brilliant album.
This one slipped past me somehow! Glad to be watching it now. Personally, i love Motorhead. I've heard all their albums, but own probably less than half. Which, i have been working on.
My first gig Pete, 04/04/1979 Sheffield City Hall. Changed my life forever, I was 15 years old, and saw Motörhead more times than I can remember. Stay Clean my favorite song! Two of Lemmys plectrums sit in my collection, one from Nottingham Rock City, the other Manchester Apollo. Bastards, Sacrifice and 1916, class! Another Perfect Day is an album that Lemmy loved in his later years and played many tracks from it live 2000 on. Iron Fist poor! Fast Eddie production. Overkill rules!!!!! The best Motörhead Album every track a winner!
Hi Pete. Looking forward to this one. Here are me top 10 least to best. 10 Black Magic 9 Rock n roll 8 Another perfect day 7 Bastards 6 Inferno 5 Ace of spades/Overkill 4 Overnight sensation 3 Bomber 2 1916 1 Sacrifice
Was lucky enough to see Motorhead on their first US tour opening for Ozzy also and many more times after that, including opening for them twice on Orgasmatron tour. Lemmy was a one of a kind guy and despite his tough exterior and image, a pretty nice guy. 1.Bomber 2Ace of Spades 3.Overkill 4.Iron Fist 5.Orgasmatron 6.Another Perfect Day 7.Motorhead
Awesome thanks Pete!!...and so your missing four albums...youll get em...love Motorhead!! The late great Lemmy...I love Hawkwind too bro...and yep got all their albums...Hawkwind that is...I frickin love space rock man...I got a fairly good collection of Motorhead...but you got me beat there🎶🎶
Motörhead is my first show too! Was in DC at the Ontario theater for the No Remorse tour. They were the headliner with xciter and mercyful fate opening. I was 16.
The fact that Lemmy and co. put out nearly an album a year, or at least every other year, and there was only one turd in a field of gold is nothing short of astonishing, March Or Die being the only misstep, Lemmy must have been listening to a lot of Sinatra and watching MTV power ballad documentaries. Non-stop touring all over the globe, laying waste to corporate sell outs and watered down, spandex sporting girlie men, Motorhead will forever be synonymous with character, passion and great humour….i.e. REAL! Lemmy Kilmister was born in a hollowed-out Marshall Stack, already clad in leather diapers, with baby-friendly slot machines in the corners, and a microphone placed unusually high, above center of crib.....from then on, everything seemed louder than before. I present the evidence: 1.Overkill 2.Ace Of Spades 3.Inferno 4.Orgasmatron 5.Bastards 6.We Are Motorhead 7.Bomber 8.Sacrifice 9.1916 10.Iron Fist thank you, Lemmy, Philthy, Fast Eddie, and Wurzel R.I.P.
Saw them in a pub, before the first album called The Fforde Grene, walked into the taproom, and Lenny was sat at the bar, drinking a bottle of Carlsberg Special. He told me the band had no picks and could I try to get some. So I went round the concert room got some, walked into the dressing room, and the band were all their stark naked smoking a joint, I will never ever forget that. I also saw Lemmy at, Leeds University whilst he was the bass player for Hawkwind.
Nice list, Pete! 1916 should be much higher, as many already mentioned. And No Sleep Til Hammersmith is by far the best Motörhead album and also one of the best (not only heavy metal) albums of all time, but unfortunately you don’t count live albums. This should receive at least an honorable mention though, if only for those who don’t know it yet.
I saw Motörhead open for Ozzy around 92 on the "No More Tours" Tour in Allentown PA. There was a really big guy standing right behind me holding a beer. He must have been over 6 foot. Between every song he start shouting, "LEMMY!LEMMY!" After Motörhead was done I never saw him again. That was my first exposure to the band. Oh yeah.... Ozzy was great too.
My dad always told me I was conceived to Motörhead ("Fire, Fire" specifically). They were then our first concert together in 2005. Last year he died and I played "Live To Win" for him at his funeral. He was such a huge fan of Lemmy and Motörhead, and so am I. My top would probably be: 1. Bomber 2. Ace of Spades 3. Inferno 4. Aftershock 5. Overkill 6. Bastards 7. Orgasmatron 8. Bad Magic 9. The World Is Yours 10. Iron Fist
I became a Motorhead fan through the Ramones. I heard that they also worked with Dave Edmunds when he was on Led Zepplen's Swansong label. Great stuff!
I listened to Ace of Spades when it came out, loved it ever since -- but I didn't 'discover' Another Perfect Day til about 4 years ago, and I think it's a very special album, one of their best. You can tell Lemmy wanted to make the songs more hooky, but he did it without sacrificing the intensity -- so imo great choice for top 5
@Sea of Tranquility Pete I know from watching many of your video's that we are almost the same age. I was just wondering what was your reaction to seeing the band live for the first time? My friends and I had listened to them bought the albums. But when I saw them live for the first time Lemmy singing into the mic several inches higher than him threw me for a loop. I wasn't the biggest Robbo fan but he did get me into their show after I was turned away for being to young (1982).
Mr pete. Do you listen to Blind Guardian, edguy, stratovarius, malmsteen, satriani, iced earth or virgin steele? If you do can you do videos about them please..
Great list! All albums with the original line up are my faves. I then go to APD And orgasmatron. I'd like to ad Killed by death is the best music video ever made.
One of the recent albums you are missing that you need to check out is Motorizer. By far their best later era album. That is the album they toured on when they were part of the Metal Masters Tour.
Honour mention to KILLED BY DEATH, one of my favourites songs which doesn't feature in any studio album, only in the No Remorse compilation. Great band! Lemmy is God!
Funny, I was just thinking yesterday when you would do a Motörhead countdown. Thanks Pete! Also, Lemmy didn’t leave Hawkwind, he was kicked out of the band for doing too many drugs. Lol. Actually, he said it was because he was doing the wrong drug, speed.
Still like the debut album most. Actually I have a soft spot for the first album they did in 1976 that was released some time after Overkill, under the name On Parole. A bit Hawkwind-ish.
Cool Motorhead ranking. I like Motorhead but I've always been a way bigger Hawkwind fan. Can you do a Hawkwind album rankings or is their studio catalog too big. They have I think 32 albums and even I don't have them all with the huge Hawkwind collection I have but I'm pretty sure I have more than half of their albums.
Hello Pete. Love your reviews! I would easily put Debut album and Iron Fist on the bottom, although Iron Fist the song is possibly my favorite Motörhead song!...the rest of the album is sub par IMO. Overnight Sensation is middle tier for me. I met Lemmy twice. Once was as the Stone Pony in Asbury Park NJ in 1994 during the Bastards tour. Lemmy was playing pinball just out in the open with everyone and I actually played a game of pinball with him! I also bought a. Motörhead condom there and Lemmy signed it saying “If I press to hard with the pen you can’t use this later.” LOL. The second time was at Club 516 (small go go place Old Bridge NJ) in 1998. He took a break from meeting fans to spend time with one of the girls behind closed doors LOL!!
Motorhead was the first band I ever saw live (1978). They were great and played 'Motorhead' at least twice due to lack of material. My hearing is still yet to recover fully.
I miss him.
not so much felt a deep sense of loss when lemmy died, after all he said ' i dont wanna live forever'..but it did suck.
1916 is a great album. Remember it also saved the band's career
Was nominated but got beaten by Metallica.
Motorhead should be in the rock n roll hall of fame right now.
damn right!!!!
No one really cares about the HOF anymore
rnr hof is a joke....useless morons giving RnR status to Kenny Rogers....skip the RnR HoF, it is pure bunk.
Lemmy must be in the Jack Daniels Hall of Fame, for sure ...
they could have put Motorhead, Little Richard, the Stones and Jerry Lee Lewis in and just stopped after that, and they might still have some respect.
I agree in general except 1916 should be much higher-inferno is a masterpiece
yeah, 1916 stellar from top to bottom and Inferno is just that-a volcanic, fire-starting assault on the senses.....in a good way! cheers!
Agreed, I have a soft spot or 1916. Some of the songs made me laugh out loud ("I'm gonna eat my own shirt"). And the title track is great.
ilias kokkinos I agree about 1916, that album is great.
1916 is great! I agree.
I can understand most of his list but yes 1916 is a top 5 Motörhead album that's just science.
i've met someone who hates Motorhead...my wife so a useful tool to have.
You need your wife's permission to go to the pub haha we all know who wears the pants in that relationship
Sacrifice kills people dead! HEAVY!
she used to throw the discus for Essex...i need sympathy.
1. Overkill
2. Iron fist
3. Ace of spades
4. Another perfect day
5. Motorhead
6. March or die
7. Inferno
Honour mention: Kiss of death! It was an anvil on my life when it came out!!
Cheers everyone! Thanks Pete!
To me Bomber probalby is on #1.
Just want to add the four albums you missed in the ranking, with a few songs from each album that is great: Kiss of death from 2006 - Devil I know, Trigger, God was never on your side
Motörizer from 2008 - Rock out
The wörld is yours from 2010 - Devils in my head
Aftershock 2013 from - Dust and glass.
I love I Don't a Believe Word, Love Can't Buy You Money, the punky title track, hell there isn't a bum track on it.

yeah,missed..listen to brixton academy 2000,see great live songs from this album
I'm slowly buying every album, ep and live album I can but so far as in studio albums, Overnight Sensation is easily the best. love it from beginning to end.
Good man! Another Perfect Day is up there with my faves too.
It took me some quite a time to get it, but now I love Motorhead 😍
One of my favorite rock bands. Thank you Pete!!
Man. I needed this today. Thank you Pete.
Great video Pete. I like Motörhead but I only have Ace Of Spades & Bomber. They sure have a ton of studio albums. I enjoyed your insight into their discography.
Awesome...This is the one I've been waiting for...Awesome ranking Pete.
Spot on, on the top 3...Overkill is a classic...and I remember meeting Lemmy at the marquee club in London in the early 80s...he was always there with the fans etc...knocking back the vodka and orange...and he said how much he loved and was influenced by ZZ Top, eg No Class.
Bomber is my number one
By the way, Bomber is one of the my all time favorites
1 - Bomber
2 - Overkill
3 - Motörhead
4 - Another Perfect Day
5 - Iron Fist
I love Ace of Spades either but I dont like the
mixer, the guitar strident sound over satured on treble. I prefer Motorhead sounding heavy such as Bomber and Overkill instead to sounding more speed than usual. I would love 12 tracks sounding as like The Chase is Better Than Catch.
Kudos to being able to rank those. I’d throw my hands up and put them all at #1. If I attempted to rank Motörhead I’d implode.
you got my top three...'capricorn' is actually my favorite motorhead song...another great video pete...be well...be safe...(...'and don't forget the joker'...)....peace....
Unrelated to the video but congratulations on 30,000 subscribers Pete!
I rank the ones I know (with two ommissions):
1. The Wörld is Yours
The Song appearing on my Autotune was "Brotherhood of Man".
R.I.P. Lemmy!
My personal favorites: No Sleep til Hsmith, Orgasmatron, We are Motörhead, Bastards, Sacrifice. Lots of pretty good ones.
Thank you for your rockin ranking of Motorhead.🎤🎸🎵🥁
i love these lists because they're always so different from person to person, for the sake of brevity i'll list my top 5. in no particular order: Bastards, Sacrifice, Another Perfect Day, Bomber, and of course Ace of Spades.
Great job with your channel. Well done
RIP Lemmy. One of the best frontmen of all time.
The cover photo from Ace Of Spades always reminded me of something that would have been on a ZZ Top album.
AMCmachine Lemmy was a ZZ Top fan. I also love the Wild West look
@Kirby Little Pretty sure Lemmy was a fan so kinda makes sense! ; )
I read somewhere that they of course were going for the old wild west look but since they were in England, they used an old slag heap somewhere in the coal mining area of the UK to stand in. Works for me!
I always thought it reminded me of the cover of Smash Hits by The Jimi Hendrix Experience. Lemmy was a roadie for Jimi back in the day.
Very similar to the El Loco cover.
Nice shirt Pete! I have the same exact one. I also have a Sin After Sin one in the same style.
Saw motorhead live in 81 with saxon, girlschool and angelwitch, vardis, and others at stafford great gig.
Wow, that's a great line-up! If I Were King....
@@hmpz36911 yes top tune by vardis.
Saw them same year.. small venue in France .. i dont remember anybody opening ...then saw them 12 times
Love the Sad wings t-shirt! I saw Motorhead here in Germany from Ovrekill till the live record, good good times! be safe......... ;)
My Top 22 Motorhead Albums.

18. 1916
17. Aftershock
16. Snake Bite Love
15. Bad Magic
14. Hammered
13. March or Die
12. Bastards
11. We Are Motorhead
10. Inferno
9. Sacrifice
8. Orgasmatron
7. Iron Fist
6. Rock 'N' Roll
5. Another Perfect Day
4. Motorhead
3. Ace Of Spades (Not too Crazy about the Title Track)
2. Bomber
1. Overkill
There isn't a Bad Album from this Band, took Me quite a while to get into this Band.
Great stuff as ever Pete. Now what about two speedy 'ranking the albums' if you've got a spare few minutes. Rival Sons and Black Country Communion! They should be two quick-ish shows to put together, but nontheless very interesting! 👍
I have been waiting on this one pete
I've pretty similar picks but I'd add "1916" as number 2 for me. It has my favorite Motorhead song on it with "No Voices in the Sky"!
Was shocked how low he had it, and Sacrifice
@@Hamptainment Yeah, these two were surprisingly low rated.
1. Ace of Spades
2. Overkill
3. Motorhead (Ranked this high because I was there when it happened and it immediately convinced me that this was a great band coming. There was even some pre-release played on some radio shows in 1976 of the original sessions that came out later as On Parole. The title song, The Watcher and Lost Johnny had been previously appeared with Hawkwind - the new versions made clear where Lemmy was going with his own band)
4. Bomber
5. Orgasmatron
6. Rock 'n' Roll
7. 1916
8. Iron Fist
9. Bastards
10. Another Perfect Day
11. We Are Motorhead
12. Inferno
13. Sacrifice
14. Kiss of Death
15. Motorizer
16. Overnight Sensation
17. Snake Bite Love
18. March or Die
19. Bad Magic
20. Hammered
21 The World is Yours
22. Aftershock
Great ranking. I would have put 1916 higher. Also forgot March or Die. Great album. In my top five. We all rank different. Keep up the good work.
Bomber and Overkill where my First Motörhead Albums! Best ever! I had a Lot all over 10 Albums! I was surprised as I didn't remember that how many! Not all but quite a Lot! Thx Pete! Like your Work!🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸
Great video, would love to see a UK connection on Motorhead
Great ranking Pete! Was curious to know where you'd place On Parole, their first recorded but only released after they'd "made it" platter? I really dig the bluesy vibe of the original Iron Horse/Born to Lose and stuff like the quite funny Vibrator.
On Parole is a bit of a mixed bag but Larry Wallis absolutely superb on Iron Horse. Title track is a stomper. Vibrator groovy and hilarious.
As far as their latter catalog Aftershock is their best album in my opinion
@@toneman8478 COOL🤘👍
Great list Pete! Motorhead has been my favorite band since I was 15, so I will do my top 10 excited!
1. Overkill (first album of theirs I bought at 15, made me fall in love with them ever since)
2. Ace of Spades
3. Bomber
4. Iron Fist
5. Another Perfect Day
6. Rock and Roll
7. Bastards
8. No Sleep Til Hammersmith
9. Self Titled
10. Inferno
Lemmy took the average kid and turned him into a star of his own. Motorhead was a favourite band to metalheads, punks and new wavers. Every album is good, love the classic stuff, "We are Motorhead" from 2000 maybe the best of the last 30 years.
I'd agree. We Are Motorhead is a strong album at a time when the albums were becoming very similar.
New wavers liked Motorhead? Kind of surprising
meaning they are respected by any genre
Now I have seen the list. I have a few in different order but why split hairs on one of the greatest bands I have ever loved. Thanks Pete.
I think you should go back and give "We Are Motorhead" another listen. I think that was ranks in the top 2. See Me Burning...Stay Out of Jail...Stage Fright...the title track. Brilliant album.
Hi, Pete! Always watching your vids. Have you thought abt ranking David Bowie stuff?
Yes!! thank you for doing Motorhead
My fave album is Overkill as well.
Amazing video... Love it!!
This one slipped past me somehow! Glad to be watching it now. Personally, i love Motorhead. I've heard all their albums, but own probably less than half. Which, i have been working on.
Yeah!! Finally!! Thanks so much Pete!
10 Black Magic
9 Rock n roll
8 Another perfect day
7 Bastards
6 Inferno
5 Ace of spades/Overkill
4 Overnight sensation
3 Bomber
2 1916
1 Sacrifice
Was lucky enough to see Motorhead on their first US tour opening for Ozzy also and many more times after that, including opening for them twice on Orgasmatron tour. Lemmy was a one of a kind guy and despite his tough exterior and image, a pretty nice guy.
1.Bomber
2Ace of Spades
3.Overkill
4.Iron Fist
5.Orgasmatron
6.Another Perfect Day
7.Motorhead
I present the evidence:
1.Overkill
2.Ace Of Spades
3.Inferno
4.Orgasmatron
5.Bastards
6.We Are Motorhead
7.Bomber
8.Sacrifice
9.1916
10.Iron Fist
thank you, Lemmy, Philthy, Fast Eddie, and Wurzel R.I.P.
I know you didn’t cover this album, but 2010’s “The Wörld is Yours”, is actually really great and as old as Lemmy was, he sounded as kickass as ever.
Brotherhood of Man
@@dirklancer62 Yeah, that song is fire.
Kiss Of Death is also a great late-period Motörhead album.
he was missing Kiss Of Death (2006), Motorizer (2008), The World Is Yours (2010) and Aftershock (2013)
The Fforde Green, man I crapped myself the first time I went in there.
Bro you do a great job on this channel. I appreciate the work your doing sharing all this great music ! ✌️❤️🇨🇦🎸
Hi, Pete,
where can i find the "Judss Priest" -Sad wings...shirt you are wearing?
I would be very happy about help.
Thanx and
Stay healthy
Al
Nice list, Pete! 1916 should be much higher, as many already mentioned. And No Sleep Til Hammersmith is by far the best Motörhead album and also one of the best (not only heavy metal) albums of all time, but unfortunately you don’t count live albums. This should receive at least an honorable mention though, if only for those who don’t know it yet.
Overnight Sensation the best, amazing production and pretty much every song is amazing.
Missing a few albums also on this list.
Great ! I didn' t see this one coming ! Excellent .
Hey Pete, are you gonna do a ranking the studio albums for David Bowie? Just curious
Thanks for posting this, only missed March of Die (1992), The World Is Yours (2010), and Aftershock (2013), nonetheless great rankings.
And Kiss Of Death.
And Motorizer
Love this band. My top 5. 1. Overkill 2.Ace of Spades 3.Bomber 4.Orgasmatron 5.Another Perfect Day.
Thanks for ranking Another Perfect Day as high as you did. I freaking love that album and most people bust it's balls all the time.
My first Motorhead L.P. was "Iron Fist"
So was mine!
It was the first one I bought when it was released, I already had No Sleep. I'd just joined the Motorheadbangers fan club too!
Ditto
Ditto, again. I think, we all probably had the mighty No Sleep and became huge fans because of that album.
Great review Pete ty!
My top would probably be:
1. Bomber
2. Ace of Spades
3. Inferno
4. Aftershock
5. Overkill
6. Bastards
7. Orgasmatron
8. Bad Magic
9. The World Is Yours
10. Iron Fist
At least you weren't conceived to 'Love Me Like A Reptile!'
Or 'Jailbait' come to think of it.
Beautiful! I want "Live to win" to be played at my funeral also!
Fire fire is such a good song
Best motorhead albums .... everything with the trio , Lemmy , Eddie and Phil !!
I became a Motorhead fan through the Ramones. I heard that they also worked with Dave Edmunds when he was on Led Zepplen's Swansong label. Great stuff!
Glad that you've ranked Another Perfect Day so high. Brian Robertson fits perfectly in that one
Yo, Pete, can you talk about Utopia's discography? I feel like I've seen the Disco Jets album cover a few times in yer videos.
Yngwie Top 10 Songs show already done (check the playlists), Iced Earth show coming up.
I've heard every album, Overkill, Bomber, Ace of Spades, and Iron Fist are my favorites. Hard to pick a favorite.
Where do u get ur cds they look so shiny and good quality 👀
Another Perfect Day is my #1. As you say Pete, very strange why it's much maligned, it's a great combination of heavyness + melody!
