    My introduction to Motorhead was their appearance on "The Young Ones" (a legendary sitcom from the U.K.) where they played "Ace of Spades".
    Anyway, my top 5:
    Another Perfect Day
    Orgasmatron
    Iron Fist
    Overkill
    Bomber
    With the exception of one album from the early 90s, I don't think there's been a duff Motorhead album. My actual favorite Motorhead album is actually "No Sleep 'til Hammersmith", but live albums don't count, and it's my favorite live album of all time.

    • @opaque4742
      @opaque4742 11 месяцев назад +1

      I think their 'lesser' period was the 90's. For me, they were bast as a 3 piece, as Lemmy's crunchy bass played more like a co-lead and when they had 2 guitarists, his bass wasn't as prominent. Plus there was a bit of a creative drop in the 90's, to my ears. I respect all their eras but I think the original trio + the later trio were the 2 best eras.

    I got into Motörhead around 1998 with the "Snakebite Love"-Album. I'll always have a special place in my heart for this one even if it doesn't make my Top 5 anymore. Before this I liked the Song "Orgasmatron" but not really anything else, incl. "Ace of Spades". That changed through the years, though. That being said: Even coming in later my Top 5 does incl. some of the older Albmus.
    5. Orgasmatron: Love it. My mother listened to Motörhead. Like I said, I didn't care much for them at first. With the exception of the title track. Another early Album for me after I started listening to them.
    4. 1916: That's a Killer to me. I bought it because of the titletrack (again). I love from top to bottom. It's one of the Albums I've listened to most in my life.
    3. Ace of Spades: Another classic. I don't really have anything to add to your reasons, Pete.
    2. Overkill: Same here.
    And now for the big surprise. My number one is actually the 1st newer Album I bought again after stopping to buy their new stuff. What got me interested was one song that appeared in my RUclips-Autoplay while listening to some of their older stuff. I thought that it was from a Soundtrack to "Sons of Anarchy" because the Video was presented in such a way. And maybe it's on the Soundtrack, I don't know. I listnened to that Song again and again. And someday I checked wether they put it on one of their Albums. I bought it. I love it. I can listen to it all day without getting tired of it. I love every fucking Song on it.

Saw them plenty times afterwards. Have all their albums. With Eddie they were the best. Just before he died I saw him play with Saxon. It may have been his last ever performance.

    This was really fun.
    I don't really get the "ageist" stuff though. It depends on the kid, but yes, I'd be more likelyt o start them off with the classics, and let them find the newer stuff on their own. I don't get this idea taht young people are afraid of rough and dirty production or something. if anything, it's the opposite.

    • @LarryFleetwood8675
      @LarryFleetwood8675 11 месяцев назад

      I do too, later Motorhead albums to me tend to become almost indistinguishable because of the production values that some fans deem as great or perfect, I think it takes something away when it's too clean sounding while still being super heavy. I prefer metal sounding gritty and raw, not too polished a wall of sound because good rock music's not supposed to be perfect sounding especially not metal (and Motorhead) I want warts and all. Maybe that's why I love classic Venom more than the later scene, we certainly couldn't accuse Motorhead of ever selling out musically either except maybe recording sound-wise they went mainstream like everybody else. I don't know, I just prefer old analog stuff. I do agree with Martin though on say Ace of Spades, take away a few of the filler tracks like "Love Me Like a Reptile" or "Live to Win" and "Fast and Loose" and it's a much better album for it they should've been b-sides just like "Dirty Love", what a shorter but killer album it'd been then as it is it didn't even make my Top 5.

      Seriously, the albums of the first era Of Motorhead are totally different , they were not like any other heavy rock, they were " unique" in a certain way and you can't compare them with the last ones : common hard- rock, banal metal. This guy doesn't grasp Motorhead , that's all. I was one of the first fan of Motorhead in 1977 (and of Lemmy in Hawkwind before) and I stand my ground....
