I was at first too but it does match the two tone of the M15 R2 I have so it grew on me. The hump in the back isn’t what I thought it was it’s actually limited to the bottom of the mouse and rests against your mouse surface. It’s lower profile that it seems in the pictures as most of the pics are too down.

The bloody hell. I love my 610m. Got for $80 US. It feels good and does what I need. And it matches my m15 r3
Yeah i dont have the previous version, i have the one before it, the AW958, the one with the removable magnetic wings on the side. Works fine i never had a problem with it, the only problem is it isnt wireless.
I love this new one, will definitely buy it.

Thank you for the review! What’s the minimum DPI possible to set within the configuration software? Is it possible to select the polling rate (125,250,500,1000,etc)? I mainly use gaming mice for work. I actually use GPRO Wireless. Thanks!
Thanks for putting them all side by side for more size reference, especially for those whose hands prefer a bigger mouse either universally or go from claw to palm grip depending on the pace of gameplay (I claw grip on fast FPS and DOTA but palm grip on strategy games). This one seems to be within the good compromise zone between a Deathadder/G502/G40x/G60x and a G305/Harpoon. Although to be honest if I get this it's as much because I probably went for an X15 and would look good with the matched finish when the X15's lid is closed on the desk and my hand isn't on the mouse.

On a side note, I've just noticed the power cable on the brick: what the heck Dell, why does power cable have a right angle on the brick, but has a straight plug sticking that far out sideways from the laptop?!
They designed that section more for desktop use. If on a laptop I would just plug the 2.4ghz dongle into the laptop and charge via a usbc cable when it needs the odd charge
Another good review David. I’ll be passing on this mouse. I know you hated the last years Alienware mouse and I wasn’t a fan either. But I had to use my Dell points on something so I bought the low profile mouse and keyboard. Reviews were not kind to thwt mouse but in my hand I just love it. Since there are sales now on the old mouse, I recommend giving it a shot. And even if you still prefer your razer, having both the old and new mice might be good video content for ya as you could offer a compare video hehe.

I really like that Alienware mouse. I do like the razor too but i feel like the design needs to be slimmer. I had to buy the razor mini because of the smaller design but i would like the razor mini wireless if it comes out. But Alienware shape looks amazing with slimer edges
Have you tried the razer orochi? That is quite a small mouse and may be better for you, it is also wireless and Bluetooth
Great video as always. When is your full review of the x15r2 coming out? I'm really looking forward for that one because i'm considering to buy that model with the exact same specs as yours, and i would really appreciate your opinion on it.

Thanks for the review, I bought this mouse as my first ever gaming mouse. I thought "gaming" mice were just gimmicks and I have always used my silent click Logitech mouse 27$. I chose this one solely because of your very last comment before price, it matches the laptop. I just got the x17 r2 i9hk and 3080 ti and thought it'd be cool to have a matching mouse. Now I need to go watch a video about DPI
If you need any help just ask. It’s a bit fiddly to set up but once you are done you can just leave it 👍
Did you buy it this past weekend? They had 20% off of all Alienware peripherals , and I ended up only paying $160 for the new AW920H tri-mode headset (same Alienware headset that uses the same tri-mode features with this mouse with like 35-50 hours of charge). wanted to get the mouse as well but i couldn't bring myself to spend $300+ for a mouse and headset in one day 😂
@@phlooke I purchases my AW920H not on sale after tax for 162$. You should understand that alienware products that claim to be discounted were marked up before discount is applied. They don't actually give real discounts. You 100% get what you pay for though.
Is there an actual walk through for changing button functions? This part of the mouse wreaks!!!! Never had such a hard time just setting it up
You need an Herman Miller x Logitech chair. It will change your life. You should do a review at the same time. Nice review for the mouse!
imagine using the magnetic dongle for charging the x14, that would a 'magsafe' for alienware

Viper Ult has sensor issues. The sensor has dropouts for a few seconds several times a day. It is slippery, i have never the feel of control by using it. The buttons are way too wide and the side buttons too far back. Holding it causes cramped hands.
I've never hated a mouse as much as the Viper Ult. And I've had a lot of cheap Chinese gaming-mice that performed better than this unergonomic thing.
I don't know how to see it any other way.

I mainly bought this to match my AW laptop lol! But I gotta say I’m really liking it. Right off the bat I thought how similar it was to the Razer, but imo this is just a more premium feeling. That could be me making myself feel better so there’s that. But like you said, the fly in the ointment…price! It is absolutely overpriced which sucks. I’m a snob when it comes to aesthetics so it was an easy choice. But until Dell shells out some discounts it’s an easy choice to go with the Viper. For AW users who don’t mind spending a little extra go for it. Super comfortable and good performing mouse!

@@MashITTech I’m currently using my 610m for my desktop and laptop lol I actually got the AW720M for the X14 I did plugged it in to fully change but the light turned off I didn’t know if it was charging or not 🤣 but I do love the feel of the buttons your index rest on curves to your finger I thought that was pretty neat 👍

Is it compatible with alienware command center 5? I don't own an Alienware PC, but a Dell G3, which is not compatible with the command center 6, only 5.
I would like to know if the mouse is compatible. I don't want to be unable to edit the macros after purchasing.

i've got a question that if the battery for the mouse is low! then why dont wejust play on the wired mode ?? since it is just fany wireless and still uses a wire coming from the PC!
yes, you can play wired and it charges the battery at the same time

Edit: If you have any plans to purchase the Alienware A920H Tri-Mode Wireless headset. The newest Bluetooth/USBC dongle/3.5mm ....I'd love to see you review that as I ordered it but won't receive it until June 7th.

The alienware 720m kinda looks like a g pro x superlight
I am finding it hard to choose a mouse cause I am finally building a desktop for the studio room. 12900KS, all core boost on the 8 P cores of 5.2ghz! It's going to be mental. But wireless gaming mice so expensive.. I think this is probably what I will get cause it offers a dedicated dongle OR bluetooth which makes it useful for the laptop as well. So expensive though!
Also check out the wireless razer death adder v2 as that is also cheaper but still offers Bluetooth and 2.4ghz

I tried opening the alien Ware command center and try pressing the FX and I can't find where the mouse is how do I do that I found the keyboard and the laptop on it but the tri-mode 720m wasn't to be found

How does it compare to Logitech G104 and Razer Orochi v2?
Don’t have the g104 sorry. But it feels almost the same size and shape as a razer viper and therefore much bigger than the orochi v2. Performance wise I would say for my grip style the alienware performs better than the orochi as I am not as accurate with the fingertip style of use needed for the orochi
so let's see the competition: Razer, Razer and an older Razer. this Alienware review says a lot about Razer :P
haha come on I did put 1 Logitech in there :) I have to be honest, as much as I am not a fan of razer as a company I do love their mice! have owned plenty of SteelSeries and Logitech but always go back to razer (unlike their keyboards!)

Razer Basilisk Ultimate for everything else. Yes That's what I used my stimulus check on.
I wonder if the Alienware monitor can be controlled via command center also.
you can control the lighting. Some of the alienware monitors can also be controlled via Dells monitor software
im still running 610m in lunar white,battery holds up to 1 month of every day abuse

i just bought the 720m and ive got some issues while its connected to bluetooth. what happens is if i hold left click the mouse instead keeps on clicking multiple times until i stop holding left click. very annyoing. it does happen occasionally on 2.4ghz as well but with bluetooth its really bad. anyone else with the same problem?

My alienware M15 r6 has only one usb-c port and I use it to connect to my externel monitor. =(
Yeah, that's a pain. I wish they could have included a USBC and USB dongle :(
macros/shortcut buttons, sounds good, I have 4 of them on my M17 R4, barely use them (maybe I am just not creative)
most of the time you will be stuck with one connection - if you choose to use bluetooth, you will use that one
so why should I buy this mouse if my £12 has bluetooth, nothing to loose, no USB to block, does the job? I just miss integrated battery

If you are happy with that mouse then you shouldn’t! I don’t think the alienware is worth anything like £120. I bought my razer viper ultimate for £75 and that came with an rgb charging dock etc making it much much better value! If this was £70 then I could try and justify it to you, performance is really good and I expect it is much more accurate than a £12 Bluetooth mouse, also on the 2.4ghz dongle it is even more accurate. This may/may not be important depending on the types of games you play, if you play slow paced games or rpg games etc, mouse isn’t really that important but if you play a lot of twitch shooters (csgo, apex, valorant etc) then I think it is easier to justify. Hope this helps
@@MashITTech well, thats a valid reason - types of games, on most of games, like Assassins Creed or Zero Dawn, you just need a controller anyways, but when I play BF1, the mouse I have just does the job and I mostly play single player games with a controller, its a lot of money for a mouse £120

I am an Alienware user. But to be honest, why would someone choose this mouse instead of Razer or Logitech?
£119 is not a cheap price tag. At this price you have those best models of professional brand.
This is exactly mine feeling on the subject. I paid £75 razer viper ultimate which including the rgb charging dock! How can alienware justify £120! This could well be the usual price it high and then discount it strategy that dell seem to be so fond of 😢
Because it has literally 3 separate connections (Bluetooth / USB-C dongle/ wired USB cable connection) so you can switch between using it on an Xbox One/Series S or X or your smart TV. Then also use it on your smartphone or an iPad/tablet /laptop. And I'm guessing has less double clicking issues just from the switches they use as opposed to Logitech....and they make an extremely well made and comfortable tri-mode Dolby Atmos (Bluetooth 5.1/USB-C dongle/3.5mm to 3.5mm cable for using it on ANY device that doesn't have Bluetooth or USB-C /A dongle ports.) and both the mouse and headset come in "lunar light" aka white....and "dark side of the moon" aka black (or more of a charcoal or dark grey color).
Just wish for this price that Alienware would have included hotswappable mice switches to easily just pull them straight out and put any type of 3pin Kailh /Omicron /etc switches that you prefer...and prevents any RMA or having to throw away the mouse if the switches begin having issues. (See ASUS Chakram as example of tri-mode mouse WITH replacement mice switches and magnetic disassembly for cheaper than this Alienware).
I think Alienware gaming laptops are one of the best choices out there but they lack in software support. I think the same is true for this mouse - it could be greater but the software support is average at best.
true story. I have moaned about alienware command centre for the last 4 years and dell still haven't improved it :(

I don't know but after using a Logitech G502 for years, I can't love anything else, It's locking and unlocking wheel is a feature I'm shocked hasn't been adopted by more mouse manufacturers.
I have to agree though, this new AW mouse does indeed look much better than the 610M(i own the white and black one). The 610M is a fantastic mouse... until you try the logitech g502 lol
I had the 502 and just couldn’t get on board with it. Loved all the button options but something didn’t sit right with my grip style. I used deathadders for years and never thought I would find a mouse I preferred until I gave the razer viper a try and wow that thing fits me like a glove 😂 I am enjoying the alienware mouse as it has a similar feel and shape. I couldn’t get past the big rear hump on the 610, and didn’t ever get one in
@@MashITTech I don't even use all of the buttons on the g502, but it does fit me like a glove I guess lol. I can't give up it's epic mouse wheel features.
I don't know where alienware was going with the wings they gave the 610M, but it does help some people hold it more comfortably (I'm not one of those people). It would have been better if it was just 1 solid color instead the way it implemented 2.

I actually liked the old design better. I think it gave it a more gamer feel and its own aesthetic where as this one looks like a generic mouse.
I agree it does look much more generic now, I just wasn't a fan of the wings on the previous version

In the end every gaming mouse p much does the same thing and each has its own bells and whistles added on to it. I don't know what this mouse has to distinguish itself.
Alienware Command Center is the worst and I hate i have to use it on my x15. Logitech is so much better (Razer too) and have way better software to work with. Dell just doesn't care abt AWCC to actually make it good.

I’m based in the states. Central Florida to be exact. Yeah I just checked again an the earliest is mid to late June. With express it brings it a day or two closer

AW610M looks 10 times better with better lighting. This looks like a generic wireless mouse with an alien head slapped on it
Don’t buy alienware. I refused to follow this advice and I can tell you I regret it. This is crap full of bugs and issues.
