Imo the 4k shot slowed down with optical flow is unusable bc it makes the rolling shutter stand out even more... I have an a6500 too but I shoot 1080p at 60/120 about 90% of the time... I save 4k for particularly beautiful shots or shots without much motion. Just my 2 cents
Optical flow. Excellent! I watched this video last year and then watched it again tonight and now I get it. I have a project for that trick this week. Thanks rp
Thank you so much for those so precious tips! I am having the A6500 for 1 week now and still couldn't figure out the best Settings/Speed controls... until now! Thanks!
Good work...you were gonna come back to the custom button 3 FOCUS. What was the deal with that? Is the C3 button the trash can? Also how do you access the upper function buttons? Thanks
Great video Austin, I'm using my 6500 with Batis 18 2.8 and with a digislider to restore a fiat 500 on my channel so plenty of focus locks etc. so this will help me out as more and more of my videos progress. thanks again and subbed.
I really appreciate it man! I'll definitely check out your stuff and keep up with what you are doing with it. Let me know if there is anything you'd like to know about editing, cameras, etc. I don't know everything but I'll always try my best!
There is actually. I'd like to learn how to set the [1][2] settings on the rotary dial to be able to easily switch to shoot a timelapse, or a slow-motion video without having to tinker in the menu. Open to other suggestions to make this easy as well. Keep up the great work Auston. Thanks again for the tips.
Im so beginner level photo+videographer and im finding it hard to understand the terms you use custom button settings and all other stuff like s log and all. Can you help me find a video where i can get introduced to such terms?
Thanks so much for the support! Let me know if there's ever a video you want to see on the channel. I really nerd out with cameras, so there are lots of topics I want to explore 👍
Thanks for going through the customization. I get tired of hearing people complain about sony menus and then never show how you can make it simple and easy to access using the function button. Also do you use a external recorder/monitor? If so what do you use or recommend for the a6500?
I 100% agree about the menus and really about a lot of the problems people have with Sony. If you just plan ahead and customize things to make it work, it's fine. And no, I don't have an external recorder/monitor at this time. I do however have a really cheap Ikan monitor that I reviewed on the channel.
Hey Austin, hoping you can help me out! For some reason I'm getting noise in the blacks on my a6500 even when shooting at ISO 200. Currently using PP4 Cine4. Do you have any idea why this might be happening?
Yo, I'm conflicted rn, should I buy the sony a6500 or the sony a7ii. Like the a6500 has the amazing video quality but then is aps-c but then the a7ii has that full frame sensor but can only record 1080 at 60fps... please help
If you are deciding between the two today, I would without a doubt go for the a6500. Better AF, 4K video (downsampled 6k) , same photo resolution, and it's newer. The a7 line will likely see an update soon so alternatively you could wait for that.
Do you know if the "clear image zoom" will work with manual legacy lenses that do not have electronic contacts? I wonder if I can use C-mount cine lenses by using this feature and still get 4K videos. Thanks.
sub me, sub you Yes! Clear image zoom works independently of the lens. It samples a smaller part of the sensor and interpolates some of the pixels, so you should be good!
Hi Austin great video, very informative. Is it possible to monitor the audio level while recording video? And is it possible to change audio level while recording? thanks
Jim yoyo yes and yes! You can change display modes to show audio levels, and you can map a custom key to adjust levels. You just can't use a headphone out to check audio
Awesome video! - im trying to change my S&Q settings. Frame rate - i dont have a 120fps option or 24p option. It is just 25p 100fps...do you know how to change it to 24p 120fps?
Hey Marshy... you must have the camera set to PAL mode - which is the correct mode in the UK if you want to avoid light flickering on your vids. I'm in the UK and just got the a6500... decided to keep it on PAL mode rather than NTSC ;)
Apocalyptoo1 I'm not familiar with time warp. I know optical flow and twixtor are relatively similar. Id like to compare the two though... is it a separate plugin?
i know it from after effects, it creates very nice frames between the existing ones. I thought this effect is on premiere aswell... but it isn't. If you have After Effects I highly recommend you checking it out though
Great video man! Subbed. Also been shooting with the a6500 lately having switched to it from Canon, thanks so much for the steadyshoot focal length tip, I just started adapting some vintage lenses so this is a must I didn't know about!!
Will Goldstone absolutely!! Thanks so much for the support! Happy to have you in the Sony fam. Let me know if there's any advice/videos I could make to help!
Cheers! Do you think the subscription is worth it ? I usually struggle with my music selection at first, but somewhere along the i happen to find a good copyright free fit.
Lachsfischer I absolutely think that it's worth it, because you keep the license forever even if your subscription runs out. Plus, you're 100% clear to use it on any professional medium. You could theoretically download 40 songs a day and have them all licensed for wedding films, RUclips, broadcast, anything. It's so much cheaper than a service like Musicbed
What imac are u using (for editing)? Mine keeps freezing and slowing down whenever im editing 4k on fcpx. Havent tried premiere yet but im guessing that would take up a lot more resources
I have the late 2015 5K iMac fully loaded. FCPX definitely handles render files and 4K better than premiere, so unfortunately, I don't think it would be bettter :(
Here's a simple question no one seems to be able to answer. Is there any way of seeing the movie clip file information? When I hit playback on a movie clip I see no way of seeing the clip DSC number? Anyone?
No worries, I'm shooting with an A6500 on my channel now too. I was using the G85. The focus is so much better on Sony. Keep up the good work and check out my channel sometime. :)
I've been experimenting with different lighting setups and looks for these videos. This one has Magic Bullet Film applied, so I can see why it might look strange. Thanks for the input though!
Please excuse my terrible screen protector skills...

thanks for the video!
Kevin Stratvert thanks for watching!!
At 4:50 you jump to picture profile but don't show where it is. I can't easily find it. (Menu 1 page 11 bottom.)

Which picture profile that nearly similar with clog2 cano ?
fantastic tips. thanks.
Brock Whitten thank you so much! Let me know if there's anything you'd like to see on the channel 👍

Keep up the great work Auston. Thanks again for the tips.
Thanks again! I can work on that!
On comparing the colour grade, how do you get that line transition exactly? Very helpful vid BTW, thanks!
is this good for sports? what should i sit with my ISO and shutter speed?
Im so beginner level photo+videographer and im finding it hard to understand the terms you use custom button settings and all other stuff like s log and all. Can you help me find a video where i can get introduced to such terms?
Zayn Shayk I can't think of any videos off the top of my head, but I'll look into making one here soon!
hello i don't have 120p on my A6500, it's normal? thanks
Doubledragon Workout it should be able to do it. Be sure to change both the codec and the frame rate
Great content .

RyanKernus gosh that’s so strange. The only thing I can think of is that it’s possibly underexposed. My copy performs so well at even high isos
I love my a6500! Glad I jumped ship from Canon 🤣
Bryan Francisco dude! Totally with you. I came from canon too, and I've never looked back
DO YOU HAVE THE 18-105 LENS? IF SO DOES YOUR WORK WITH CLEAR IMAGE ZOOM AS MINE WONT ON THE A6500?
Yo, I'm conflicted rn, should I buy the sony a6500 or the sony a7ii. Like the a6500 has the amazing video quality but then is aps-c but then the a7ii has that full frame sensor but can only record 1080 at 60fps... please help

Additionally it's a much cheaper price tag as well! great camera!
$1200 v $1800 too

Great Work dude ! Checked out a few of your videos and you're definitely going somewhere.
Could you tell what the name of that auuiiii song is.
Lachsfischer thank you so much! The song is Pieces of Movement - Faster People. I got it through ArtList
Cheers! Do you think the subscription is worth it ? I usually struggle with my music selection at first, but somewhere along the i happen to find a good copyright free fit.

Hmmm! I haven't thought about this much. I'll do a little digging. Thanks for watching
Austin Black - i've talked with Sony, and no, the camera does not display clip file numbers in playback, which is a pity.
That is really odd. It seems like such a given that it would be included
What was the song you used man?
Pieces of Movement - Faster People. It's from artlist
3:50 Argentina
Nicolas Olivieri Hey! I swear by the Zhiyun Crane with mirrorless cameras. I'll work on a review for that soon 👍
Nice work. Good video. Subscribed.

Not sure if your video is overexposed or what, but this video looks weird
