I hope this video helped you guys out :) This took me a long time to make, thats why it's been over a month since I made episode 1 so id appreciate it if you leave a like to let me know that my effort to put out this video is appreciated 😊
Drifter D I am Indian and like most Asian parents they are sensitive about money and constantly haggle me on my hotwheels collecting habits what about your parents? Do they support your hobby?
Drifter D As usual.. love your vids :D ..but maybe i got a valuable tipp 4 you ^^ . Just take a brush and some nail polish remover with aceton, brush over the glue and you will get the car out without damage to the card .. aaaand you can put it back in everytime and glue it back together ^^
That is exactly what I do. I always have my cars open and loose so I can give all my adoration and love for the cars I have. I do keep the car cards to remember what it is and see the nice card art they can have. I REFUSE to have the cars locked in the packaging because that would defeat the purpose of me buying it really.
Goated comment here. Recently started buying "investment cars" like jdms, lbwks and others but it doesn't feel as exciting when I'm buying the cars that I truly loved.
@@justinterry7853 I hear you 100%. My most personally valued cars are ones that have been played, or new, but sit on my desk or on shelves and ledges in my office. Seeing them. Touching them. Running them up on tracks when my toddler nephew comes over. That's where it matters.
Love how matchbox has those mini boxes . You can open the car and put it back in the mini card box . Very cool and it doesn’t take up much room . Also very nice art work on the matchbox cards . Very good thing .
In Finland average price of the Hot Wheels car is 3 €, which is about 3.5 $. Here taxes are always already included in the price so no math calculations needed.
For cheaper brands (Hot Wheels, Matchbox, Welly etc.) i buy two so i have one loose and one in the package. For more expensive brands, it depends. If i think the complimenatry package is great, i keep it carded, otherwise i open it. That's a good trick with the box btw. Good point about collecting: Value what you collect. Thanks for this video.
I am a loose collector however before I open the package I take pictures of the front and back of the card. Then I take the cars and display them on a shelf I have.
I crack em all wide open haha doesn’t matter if they’ve been in the package 20 years! My intention is to put a display case on my wall some day. In the meantime, if I can’t fit it in jammers, I put it in a tote box for later, when I can display it properly:)
I just recently started collecting and I've tend to keep them carded if the card is worth it. Ex: I bought the 3rd Gen Camaro and absolutely love the design so it will stay carded.
You know I always had the same problem. To open or not to open, on one hand, its a lot easier to store or display an open car I think. It's also a lot more fun.
Great great video! I do collect cause I love Hw brand but also I was trying to invest on a hugh interesting collection to talk about and make history about, now I'm trying to keep some cars in package and some loose
I’ve just started collecting since August of 2017 so I only have about 200 or so cars-I’ve been keeping them carded displayed on a 4 foot by 2 foot pegboard with molding to hold them into place. I will probably open most of them soon with Acetone to keep the blister and cards nice. I like your saying: “Value what you collect!” Get your full enjoyment out of your cars!
+Weekend Warrior I see, nice!! Hehe yup, that's my motto :) If you'd like, I have my own way of opening cars that you might like. Here's the link: ruclips.net/video/sMMDKWI37jE/видео.html
As a collector I would NEVER want to sell my collection, so doesn't matter if I lose value by opening the card package, also better for clicking good pictures of your collection.
I am mostly a loose collector but sometimes I keep them boxed if I like how they look. Also I like mounting some on my walls behind my open collection to add a little aesthetic to the display to feel more complete. I also keep some boxed if it’s something I could trade or sell to pay for more of my hobby. Something that is valuable to someone else could pay for more for me to enjoy. So look at it this way sometimes I collect value to be able to afford more that I value to collect.
The idea of cutting the blister without damaging the card and you can put the car back in anytime you want is great, thank you for the idea, i just started collecting
My son and I display the premium cars but everything else gets opened for one reason only....the reason they were made, to race them and go fast! We sell the ones that are to slow and motivates us to keep buying newer castings to see which is faster from our top 5. It allows us to keep hunting and not worry about space for displaying them.
i used to have alot of hotwheels as a kid sadly dont have anymore but i recently started buying them again im (26) and i love them i agree 100% with your last point why buy one with the mind set of reselling i hate it when people do that love your videos!!
I've been collecting carded so far, but today I bought a duplicate HW car (1986 Toyota Van) purely to open it and examine the car and the feeling of holding the car, looking it over in 360 is so much more satisfying. As nice as carded cars look, on Instagram I've seen some impressive garage-like displays of people's loose cars and it just looks great. I do think they're meant to be freed from their boxes.
Great video yet again Drifter! I'm personally a carded collector not due to its value but really just like to enjoy looking at them. I've played with them last time when I was younger and I still have a substantial amount of loose cars in my collection. Though the value of the carded cars would help in the future if I ever needed some desperate money... Haha
+UnTouchGamingHD Same here, I used to have alot of loose cars because I played them on tracks but now, they _are_ still loose but I dont play with them so they are mint and I can sell them off too if I ever needed some money 🤔
I have a lot of unopened Hot Wheels sitting in my bedroom because I want to get my room painted before I open them. I always open my cars when I want to display them. Great video btw! :)
Most cars are a buck. They are only worth what someone will pay.... so play or if you want pay... the best part of car collecting is its your way...lol
I bought 2 hot wheels a couple days ago when I just got into collecting and I have about 60 hotwheels from 2003-2011 when I was little. I bought 4 more today and I'm now keeping them carded and hung up in my closet until I buy a peg board to display them on
I was always a loose collector, until I ran outta space, but after watching your video of storing cars in their card on the wall, I have been doing that method of keeping em semi carded and gonna continue this tactic, for the loose cars well..... I will find plastic containers for em. Btw u almost to 1k, been following u quite a while and decided to come outta the shadows recently....
+Kevin Gan I see, glad to hear that my way of opening cars helped you with your collection in a way 😊 Thanks for the support man. I do love getting comments and reading them but either way, comments or no comments, I appreciate it as long as you watch my videos 😊
*Don't collect for the value Value what you collect* Well said sir. So true. I've never collected for the value and never will, no matter what I collect. And I collect alot and I mean alot of stuff lol. I will always collect for the love of the collection.
I was actually a lose collecter but then I chose the the carded side. The reason why I chose the carded side is because of how much safe they can be inside. I live in a country which is extremely humid, which tends to rust the axles of the cars which will eventually lead to many problems so that's why I keep them inside the card. Btw awesome video as always!
I have been collecting a lot over the last year or two. I have mostly just been collecting Mazda matchbox and hotwheels. I started by collecting loose, but then I started collecting multiple coppies to have one loose and one carded, and now Ive just been keeping them carded other than multipack exclusive cars.

Back then i'm always a loose collector back then but ever since i saw this video i'm gonna be doing both (loose and carded) thanks for the advice drifter d :)
to make less damage to the box, i prefer putting nail polish remover/acetone to the box (at the back of the plastic cover of the hotwheels). and if you want to resell it, just glue the plastic back to the box (obviously with the car in it) then resell it. you knife technic seems to be hard if you're going to glue it back
I do 1 of 4 things, keep some cars loose that aren’t cool or rare, open the car but cut out the part of the card with the art,use nail polish remover and open it smoothly and if something is valuable rn or in the future like the buggatis I don’t open them at all

I just put them in display cases..I put the card on the wall of the display case, with car in front..I m never going to sell hopefully it becomes a family piece thru the years
Another fact. If you want the card fresh without any problem (ex. Using a knife to cut open the car) or damaged, use acetone (Chemical (dunno it’s illegal to other countries)) behind the blister. Its pretty easy to use and it doesn’t damage the card. Here’s the video i found! (Drifter D commented there) ruclips.net/video/u6boerzXMro/видео.html
On the value comment, here is another way of looking at it. If you will never get rid of it, or rather if you want to keep it forever, the value is literally worthless! Price doesn't mean anything unless it is paid, so just open and enjoy the cars you know you want forever!
i damn agree with your last point, i die die wont sell my any Hotwheels cars(including fancy cars), i dunno why in Malaysia here many of them consider the second hand value lol
Thank you so 'come brother I show you ' Brother I recently started collecting die cast cars But was cautious to uncard them... I am going to value them for being in my collection... I am going to have long lasting relationship ❤️
i like to keep my hand on them. cz what's the meaning if u collect without even thouching them.. lol... i collect because they so cute and pretty im not collecting to show somone 😂 but i collect cards they looks great
Drifter D As usual.. love your vids :D ..but maybe i got a valuable tipp 4 you ^^ . Just take a brush and some nail polish remover with aceton, brush over the glue and you will get the car out without damage to the card .. aaaand you can put it back in everytime and glue it back together ^^

I use the cards to make wall art frames. Recycle as much as I can.
I wouldn't want my cars in a box because they'll get scratched. I keep mine in a carry case!
Maybe, you can buy two of the same cars, keep one carded, and keep one loose. This is what another RUclipsr is doing, so credits to them.
Yea but I buy the nascar and indy car diecasts which are like 20 dollars and I dont have that kind of money for 2 of them
i damn agree with your last point, i die die wont sell my any Hotwheels cars(including fancy cars), i dunno why in Malaysia here many of them consider the second hand value lol
I like both but sometimes I just dont like it when they got scratched
I buy 2 of each car I want - 1 for the card and one for loose. Sometimes I buy 3 with one for customs
Half of my cars are loose and half of them are carded, but nowadays I keep them carded LOL
I collect them and take them out, but I have every single package still, so it is always save and I have all the info
I collect for the fun of showing them loose an restore them too.thats the fun part.
Some hot wheels like the funny car #271 is worth more on the card I collect loose in plastic 48 cases but I keep a few carded that worth more
I keep mine in the package because the ones i have comes with nice packaging and i have loose and carded
Thank you so 'come brother I show you '
Brother
I recently started collecting die cast cars
But was cautious to uncard them...
I am going to value them for being in my collection...
I am going to have long lasting relationship ❤️
i like to keep my hand on them. cz what's the meaning if u collect without even thouching them.. lol... i collect because they so cute and pretty im not collecting to show somone 😂 but i collect cards they looks great
I keep them loose but keeping the card
Drifter D As usual.. love your vids :D ..but maybe i got a valuable tipp 4 you ^^ . Just take a brush and some nail polish remover with aceton, brush over the glue and you will get the car out without damage to the card .. aaaand you can put it back in everytime and glue it back together ^^
I've got ninety carded cars but it takes lots of room
no shit
Your videos are wonderful and very informative great job 👏
Use nail polish remover to open it
The only thing i dont like about being a loose collector is that i might scratch it up. Also, my son is more willing to grab a car and play with it haha
