But the value isn't there per $ for me. I had that choice back in '23, when my Q5 got taken out by two deer in succession over three weeks. Sure, I wish I had the trick diffs and the beefy transmission, but I'm pretty happy with what I have.

If you’re looking to keep things stock besides cosmetics, bushings , coilovers, and a cat back buy the STI if you can find a stock one and can afford it is the way to go. If you’re looking for cheap power go wrx. Both are amazing but nothing will compare to the analog feel and sound of the rumble. The STI is truly special. I think there are better deals around than I found, and definitely better deals if you don’t want an STI specifically. The character the car has and how fun it is to row through the gears is hard to describe without experiencing it.
I purchased a 2024 TR last week under invoice with the STI short throw and the STI performance muffler. The interest rate was 1.9%. I looked at the 2024 Golf R but the interest rate was >6% and had dealer mark ups that would have put it in the mid 50k range. It was the same with the Type R which was quoted to me at 54k for a 2024! The TR was a crazy deal! So glad I decided on that instead of waiting on the TS.

I agree with everything you said Awais. If you are looking to taking the car to 450WHP on a VB it will require a turbo upgrade and maybe some fueling along with the FMIC, intake, jpipe, AP, and tune. For the VB though most would probably want the STI trans to hold the power and not limit their tune due to the split case WRX trans. Also getting better brakes is a must as well with the power. You are completely wrong with the STI transmission. If you drive in the snow with the STI, you absolutely will use those differentials. It is a night and day difference between having limited slip vs open differentials. You have so much more traction from a stop and maintaining that traction as you drive. I have owned both the VA WRX and STI. The WRX slips just as much as my wife's Forester. Yes the symmetrical open diff AWD system is definitely better than fwd, rwd, and even other awd systems from other brands. However, it still doesn't beat the STI drivetrain in snowy conditions.
Honestly you're still driving cautiously in the snow, or trying not to drive. You arent rallying in the snow. Is it better? Maybe...however I said you don't NEED it. The WRX AWD is more than capable in the same SAFE snow driving, in my opinion.
Honestly the only reason I kinda wish I would’ve bought an STI instead is for the more analog driving and the trans. Other than that, the VB is sweet. It’ll make power way cheaper than a compared to an EJ. First Subaru I’ve owned and I love it.
I bought the STI for the analog driving. I have never felt the need to do power modifications to the car. Getting lighter wheels and adding a slightly louder exhaust did enough for me. I agree that the FA24 is the better tuning platform now. It has so much higher of a ceiling than the EJ25. Since you plan on modifying your VB, I think you made the better choice for you. I made the better choice for me based off what we want out of our cars.
For me, STI all the way. Both are great, but the STI is more special. The wrx just feels like a faster economy car. The LSD and transmission makes it worth the price imo. No one with a STI regrets not getting a wrx. Same can’t be said in the reverse. Something to be said for a warranty though.
Before a week ago i was convinced a used STI was the way to go but after test driving some VB's im now convinced a new VB is the way to go. The used STI's just look so dated and a mechanical issue timebomb
You're forgetting the limited slip diffs and driver contolled center diff being able to adjust the front to rear bias. The open diffs of the new WRX are garbage on sand rocks and dirt. New WRX It relies on the braking torque vectoring alone witch is fine on tarmac but not loose surfaces. and the rear bias is not adjustable. the older drive train Just for the differential setup older STI is worth it if you plan to go off road and want to stay on the dirt track or not get stuck. ruclips.net/video/WBQlK89PyxQ/видео.htmlsi=fu4rPofqHfyAI9Yr

Honestly you're still driving cautiously in the snow, or trying not to drive. You arent rallying in the snow. Is it better? Maybe...however I said you don't NEED it. The WRX AWD is more than capable in the same SAFE snow driving, in my opinion.
Never had any issue in my wrx in the snow. Sti owners just think they have something special 🤣
3:31 Looks like I need to just buy a wrecked STI when I want to do my 6 speed swap…
Honestly the only reason I kinda wish I would’ve bought an STI instead is for the more analog driving and the trans. Other than that, the VB is sweet. It’ll make power way cheaper than a compared to an EJ. First Subaru I’ve owned and I love it.
Gotta try the TR steering. It's not hydraulic like the STI but it's better than the stock 22-23.
Was looking longingly at two STI's at local dealer. I'm never happy with cars lol.
lol ain’t that the truth went from a si to a wrx to a type r then back at a 9th gen si currently waiting for my turbo kit to arrive for it😂
Weren’t the STI’s 40k+ a year ago. I’m surprised. I need to sell my narrow body.
I had a '16 STi. Great trans/awd, mediocre car overall. If you're going to get an STi, I'd go for something pre '08.
You're forgetting the limited slip diffs and driver contolled center diff being able to adjust the front to rear bias. The open diffs of the new WRX are garbage on sand rocks and dirt. New WRX It relies on the braking torque vectoring alone witch is fine on tarmac but not loose surfaces. and the rear bias is not adjustable. the older drive train Just for the differential setup older STI is worth it if you plan to go off road and want to stay on the dirt track or not get stuck.

not even close. STI is a legend
@@a124as actually WRX is the real legend.
No offense but sti owners are the biggest joke, I had a big turbo va wrx and sti fanboys wouldnt even wave or look in my direction. You all think your sti is on par with a Porsche or some other special sports car. Snobby asses cant even show other subarus love. They killed the sti because the vb is better. Hell i think the va wrx was better. They just new you asshats would buy a sti 🤣
Easy. If you want a 400HP weekend or track car, get the STI.
Lmao its reverse bud. Sti is much harder to make over 400 and the engine is a weak link. Its almost like you didn’t even watch the video. Sti is dead for a reason.
New. Mainly because most wrx owners abuse and don't maintain
Damn I shoulda waited to buy my Base model for like 32k I owe like 25k stilll on it :////
The vb is more powerful than the sti even with barely any upgrades just a tune

I love the guys that think they need a STi to drive to Starbucks 😂.. if you want a race car or track car, buy STi.
If you want a daily, buy a new VB
@pharmztko I love the guys that think they need a wrx to drive to Starbucks 😂.. if you want a race car or track car, buy wrx.
If you want a daily, buy a new beige corolla.
LOL the comments.

There is no VB in Gran Turismo 7 so not even considered a race car. Stick with the VA STi
Lol bro, by that logic the 2021 Toyota Himedic is a race car. 😂🙄
@HeavyMetalWRX lmao I'm just saying why isn't the VB in the game while a bunch of other cars made the same year are.
Anyone looking for a low mileage 18 sti 67k miles HMU!
I'll give you $15k 😂
@ I have an 2001 Rsti if you bump that number up. 15k you can get a GD sti.
@marcspence1905 My man I'm broke My price is only going to go down 😂😂
@ Where I come from thats called low balling. Go offer 15k to the next sti owner they will just laugh at you.
@@marcspence1905 jokes on all of them I don't want to go backwards lol I'm very happy with the newer engine
