    Maybe it is time for ESKOM to exit the electricity distribution space (where it's clearly failing) and allow private companies and entrepreneurs to distribute electricity in townships and informal settlements (buy bulk from ESKOM and retail to households and own the LV infrastructure), with a requirement that the concessionaires are also responsible for set annual electrification targets in their areas.

      Problem is we know those who don't pay we live amongst them, we don't say anything or report them, once Eskom shuts down electricity in that neighborhood now we want to complain. Everyone must hold each other accountable this issue affects everyone we can't have people not paying for electricity when everyone should pay

  • @kha2slamza670
    @kha2slamza670 2 года назад +10

    I know I will be brutally attached for this, but SOWETO people must start buying or paying for electricity just like everyone else. With what money must maintain or fix those transformers if they don't want to pay? It's high time everyone pay for services they are using. You can't drive a car and expect someone to fix your car when is broken, Eskom requires money to maintain their infrastructure and those using the infrastructure must pay, it's as simple as that.

    The young man don't know this one. The infrastructure of electricity in Soweto belongs to the residents and it was sold by some leaders to them. Keep on voting ANC.

    Eskom is not a problem ,the problem is Abahlali they don't buy umubane ,illegal connections ,cable theft,eskom is doing it's best and the are not making profits

    The power outages are caused by too many illegal connections and vandalism like izinyoka etc. Eskom must just hire Zim expats Electrical Engineers that they fired on xenophobic grounds. That extra pairs of hands will enable quicker maintenance of Eskom Infrastructure. The fine for illegal connections should be harsh.

    You all want electricity to be privatized.. these people are not paying for electricity and under Zuma government they were getting services for free. When services are privatized how will these people continue to receive free services.
