  • Detection of incidental renal masses is increasing due to the increased use of abdominal imaging tests for various indications. As such, it is important for POCUS users to identify if something is not right and obtain radiology-performed comprehensive imaging in a timely manner. Early detection of renal cancer may save patient's kidney and even life. I know the purpose of POCUS is to answer focused clinical questions but kidney POCUS is slightly different in the sense that formal imaging is not typically obtained as a follow up (unlike echocardiogram).
