    ❤️ www.buymeacoff... ❤️
    The musicologist Arthur Hedley has observed that "As a pianist Chopin was unique in acquiring a reputation of the highest order on the basis of a minimum of public appearances-few more than thirty in the course of his lifetime." Chopin played more frequently in salons, not in big concert venues. He disliked a “public concert-giving” and meant that only an intimate, familiar atmosphere can let you be a witness of real art and feel the music and the artist’s soul deeply. In this concert program with the Title “Notturno” as a leitmotif, recorded at the beautiful chapel Styraburg (built at the 10th century, restored and modernized in the first half of the 19th century, at the times of Chopin’s life) we tried to come closer to the Chopin’s idea of how a piano concert should be like and to demonstrate an extract of the richness of Chopin’s palette of genres and composer’s style.
    Chopin Polonaise in A major, Op. 40, No. 1: Embracing a "Chivalrous Soul"
    I have always admired Frédéric Chopin for his sheer talent as well as for the ways in which he conveys emotions to the listener. From the suffocating sentiments defined by Prelude Opus 28 No. 4 in E minor to the tranquil elation associated with Opus 9 No. 2 in E-flat major, his breadth is only superseded by an innate ability to capture the audience. In order to fully appreciate such talent, I wished to explore every flavour of his compositions. Polonaise in A major (known as the "Military Polonaise") exposed me to yet another facet of this unique personality.
    The Military Polonaise: Capturing Sonorous Chivalry
    Many experts describe this piece using words such as "condensed" and "compressed"; neither a coda nor an introduction is present. However, I am immediately transported into what can only be called an 18th century sense of power and supremacy; not unlike the politics associated with the time of Chopin. I am also able to discern several unique elements within the Military Polonaise.
    Pomp and Splendour
    Although many listeners might associate this piece with a staccato rhythm, I feel much more when I become engrossed within its beauty. Akin to being baptised into a proud and nationalistic fervour, each note is perfectly matched with the others. I find that replicating the raw emotions within the Military Polonaise represents a personal journey in and of itself.

    Beautifully played. I am 65 years old and still remember how to play this piece. It was my recital song when I was in the 9th grade. My best friend and I played it together during the two-piano performance of the concert. I still have the program. Great memories.

    She clearly breathes this music! It's probably the best I've heard! Most pianists rush through Chopin Polonaises, pounding out the notes - technically perfect but without understanding its lines- where it's going or how it returns home- and triumphantly so! I played this piece in my early teens, but only now see the difference the pianist makes! Bravo!

    This was the piece that gave me the desire to learn piano when I heard it as a young boy. Your masterful and proud performance has now inspired me, as a man of 63, to re-learn this piece. I will never play it with your excellence but it will bring me great joy to make the attempt and return to my musical roots, so to speak. Thank you for the inspiration, Miss Huppmann !! :-)

      Smiling...I loved seeing your comments, gabithemagyar! My sister playing "this piece" (four years older than me) was also what inspired me to at age 14 begin learning piano. I had begun at age 7(?), but after one year at recital goofed so badly that I quit!!! I went on to learn "this piece" eventually and played it at my last recital at about age 17. Years later my wife bought me a grand...and I began to relearn some of the music (including "this")...I was about age 54. I recorded "this piece" back then on cassette and later had someone put it on a CD. Recently(?) I was able to upload it to my youtube channel. The recording quality is very poor and likewise was never able to play it like Miss Huppmann...grin.

      Les non spécialistes comme moi trouvent que ce piano sonne très très bien! De plus une musique " militaire" doit être jouée sur un piano basique, un piano de garnison.
      Non, la seule question que je me pose c'est: est-ce que ses hauts talons ne la gênent pas? Ou encore: des Louboutin peuvent-ils améliorer le toucher d'une artiste?

    We can listen to this beautiful piece as many times as we wish. Those who heard it in Chopin's time, perhaps heard it two or three times in their lifetime - and that was if they were lucky. Now, we take classical music for granted because it is so accessible. I am now your fan for life!!!!

    • @violinhunter2
      @violinhunter2 6 лет назад +1

      With all due respect (of course), I think this wonderful Chopin piece would have sounded a bit better (if that is even possible) if you had worn a much, much shorter dress. Yuja Wang is not the only pianist who has beautiful legs after all and great audacity to match her talent..... Bravo!!!!

      Shikazu: i did say "with all due respect" - the female human body is not shameful. It is God's Masterpiece. If you look around, you will notice that the female form is used universally to attract attention, whether by artists, writers, sculptors, composers, or advertising agencies. Yuja has broken a barrier and so has Anastasia. Violinist Rusanda Panfili has also broken that barrier. One of her RUclips videos has over 700,000 views. For classical music, that is huge.

    • @WeIIngton1
      @WeIIngton1 6 лет назад +2

      Violinhunter2 ... Your words should have been prefaced "Without due respect " - to Anastasia & to Frederick. You listen with your eyes? What do you think with ? The music stands on its own merits ( performance & compostion ) without a requirement to wear a mini-skirt. Your other comment - re modern recording - was a much more interesting observation.- Thanks .. The things we take for granted !

    • @violinhunter2
      @violinhunter2 6 лет назад +2

      Well: Well, yes, I actually do "listen" with my eyes pretty much all the time. If I were blind, the dress would be immaterial but fortunately, I am not. I avoid Joshua Bell and his ilk (Nigel Kennedy, Ara Malikian, Gilles Apap, etc.) precisely because they look so shoddy. I try not to think too much though; I feel the music mostly.

    Loved the comment about the forearms burning. I played this work at my last recital in 1969 and my piano teacher did not attend because she was jealous that I could handle the long reach chords Chopin used and she had small hands and could not. Still love listening to this piece.

    Amazing and delightful. Distinct and dignified, but not heavy. Brilliantly composed and performanced. Very good video editing.
    Multidimensional beauty: 1. music and composition, 2. pianist - perfectly harmonized with the music: arms movements (e.g. 2:27, 2:37), hands movements (e.g. 2:40, 3:25, 4:17 - the right finger drills the sound), facial expressions (e.g. 1:13, 5:20), head movements (e.g. 2:05, 4:13) are charming, subtle, exquisite, not artificial. I see and hear that the pianist feels the song deeply (e.g. the smile that starts in 5:02 becomes serious in 5:05 like music at this point).
    Chopin's masterpiece is beautiful, but this performance gives an extraordinary charm - the music is enriched by ethereal style of playing. And all this - on the basis of synergy - provides such an amount of beauty that it can make the listener/viewer very addicted. Poems can be written about this performance, and if it were possible to access to whole recordings from all four cameras - dissertations can be written about this performance.
    Thank You! Regards from Chopin's fatherland - Poland.

    Hello Anastasia, I really love your interpretation ! I played that too fifteen or twenty years ago, I don't remember well, but what I remember is that I liked this Polonaise a lot. When I saw you smile from time to time, it remembered me that I smiled too when I played it. It's very enjoyable, not only as music but also technically. There are few other pieces that made me feel that (like that, I would say Orage or the first Étude transcendante, the fifth and the eighth Étude-Tableau Op.33, mmmmh, I really love to play those). All the body is involved, not only the hands. And the brains too, of course. I always have shivers when I listen to this piece, no exception with your interpretation. I saw that somebody in the comments didn't like the sound of the piano but it's not my opinion. It's refreshing to hear a Fazioli rather than a Yamaha or a Steinway, even if it's not perfectly tuned. That sounds very clear, forte without being to loud and much more "musique de salon" (and it was what Chopin himself liked). You manage to keep not only an intimate feeling but also the martial aspect of this Polonaise and I really love the mix ! And that rythm… It's not even human. I'm sure you eat a metronome every morning with your cereals ! :D In one word : it was fan-tas-tic ! W.

    La mode est de montrer ses jambes, ma foi, pour les auditeurs qui s,ennuient, ils peuvent se consoler. Mais l’interprétation est captivante et contempler de belles jambes en écoutant les yeux fermés permet de s’envoler dans les rêves. Bravo et merci

    Magnificent. Only these pop up screens in the end interfere to see the final of the clip and her beauty in full.

    I prefer listening to it than playing it. It's quite difficult to learn it. Fantastic playing. I would say that this is one of the best performances of this piece I've ever heard 👏👏👏💕🎹
