My introduction to classical piano in 1945 aged 13, still love it today.

The great Rubinstein! Only he could play the marching rhythm of the cavalry so charmingly. Indescribably beautiful!

Ah, memories of my youth, when I was inebriated by the music of Chopin and other classical musicians, and the virtuosic interpreters such as Rubinstein.

I had to memorize this (the 1st movement but played the whole thing) when I took piano lessons in the 50's.

My very favorite interpreter of Chopin’s music! [note that I did not say “best;” as Beverly Sills said, artists are not horses, so one cannot win a race] Maybe it’s Rubinstein’s infectious and purely infectious joie du vivre, his identification with Chopin oeuvre as a fellow Pole, both joined to his colossal musical gifts and intellect....whatever it is, I know in an instant if I’m listening to Rubinstein. I really adore the way Ashkenazy, Argerich, Szpilman, and Cziffra interpret Chopin’s works, too, but Rubinstein is the one I always come back to, and crappy background noise cannot dampen his playing of this glorious piece one bit! Thanks for uploading!
