A Quick Day of Gold Panning

A quick day of gold prospecting and panning in a new location. Though gold was found here before, the location has already been heavily worked and I only came away with a small amount of gold. The rocks in the area are slightly metamorphosed with the area containing dikes and plutons. Some rocks near by are a higher grade of metamorphic rock and contain garnet. While panning, I found small shards and garnet crystals. Gold seemed most abundant in the top most layers of the gravel bars in the creek.
