    It’s really a shame that we pay so much for the 10.25 display and still need a Garmin. Not sure why BRP didn’t do what Arctic Cat did and just make a deal with Garmin

      Yeah, Polaris ride command and the 7S sure is nice. Don’t even need a second GPS 😂

      Not in Ontario unfortunately.. Polaris ride command uses crowd sourced data so trail info is wholly inaccurate. Cheers, Jesse

      Arctic Cat is owned by Textron. And textron has been in bed with Garmin for years with their other products. That's probably why.

    No updated TrakMaps for Ontario, OFSC won’t supply trail updates to TrakMaps anymore. Works for Quebec but not Ontario. Thanks OFSC.

    • @sledaddicz

      Shouldn't really be a big issue if you have it from previous years. Changes are minimal year to year. We only upgrade our trakmaps every 5 seasons or so. Cheers, Jesse

    Got through all the steps from your excellent video to the point of hooking into the red-capped solenoid post for power. Tried every tool combination I own but there just isn't room enough to get at the post to remove the nut and connect the wire. I'm doing this on a 2022 Expedition (Gen 4), which may be a big difference. Any advice; doesn't look like you (or in Mike's video) had any issues with that step. I've thought about just not trying to remove the existing nut and adding a second nut to secure the connection; don't know is there's a serious downside to doing that. Poor accessibility may thwart that a well.

    • @sledaddicz
      @sledaddicz  10 месяцев назад +1

      Hey Thom. We just used a really small socket with a ratchet and was able to get the nut off no problem. Its a pain with a bunch of short turns but its totally doable as we've done it on the past 4 sleds we have had. Cheers, Jesse

      @@sledaddicz A final big thank you. Got it all installed. Could not have done it without your excellent videos (and your answers to my questions). I ended up using a universal joint socket adapter and 6-inch extension to work with the nut on the solenoid power post. Smallest socket/wrench I had just wouldn't fit in the tight space: and then there's my fat hands! Maybe this suggestion will save other amateurs some time. Now I just need some snow!

      Hey there! Just wondering if might know the main difference between the tread and the Zumo xt. I’m trying to get info from anyone who has some hands on experience with these. Any info would be greatly appreciated, thanks

    • @jessebuchman6744
      @jessebuchman6744 9 месяцев назад

      @shannonjarvis8766 as I mentioned in the video, they are very similar. Main difference is software. Tread is targeted more to off road while zumo is targeted more to on road. I.e. more topographic features on the tread.

      Hey Shannon. The tread like all our other garmins are bulletproof. Used it in -40 this season and it worked perfectly with zero hiccups. Garmins are really a worry free product you can use in any environment as long as it is plugged into a power source. Cheers, Jesse

    It's too bad that this mod is a waste of money if you ride in Ontario. It was to be my wife's Christmas present this year after showing her the video you did previously. Yes you can get the cell phone glovebox extension and run the OFSC app on the phone. How accurate is it if you have no cell service?

    • @sledaddicz
      @sledaddicz  11 месяцев назад +1

      Hey man. It depends. I use the gps a lot for off trail riding to make tracks for me so I can get back to the same areas later on. We also have a trakmaps card from previous years so its not really an issue for us. We only upgraded our cards every 5 seasons or so as the changes were pretty minimal. The OFSC and BRP Go app are both accurate and can be used without cell service. Just download the maps and you will have the same accuracy regardless of if you have connection or not. Cheers, Jesse

      @sledaddicz  11 месяцев назад +2

      Just the old style one but that works as well! Mike installed the same gps on his backcountry last yr with the g4 glovebox extension. He just added a little half inch behind the garmin mount to push it out a bit to make it work. Cheers, Jesse

      @@sledaddicz Could you clarify that please. I have the G4 gb extension. I can't get the Garmin (Zumo XT) to click in place on the Garmin mount when the mount is attached to the door. You say add something (plastic piece?) between between the Garmin mount and the gb extension door; I'm assuming the idea is to get the clip raised off the gb extension. But what does the "little half inch" part mean. If you raised it a half inch I wouldn't think you'd be able to bolt it down. Thx for the great videos (this one and Mike's similar, earlier one).

    • @jessebuchman6744
      @jessebuchman6744 11 месяцев назад +1

      @ThomEBurk we got longer bolts to make it work. The g4 glovebox extension was made for the older zumo 590s. The newer zumos and treads don't fit properly because of the recess in the glovebox. We just cut a thin piece of plastic or wood to stick behind the bracket and got longer bolts to make it work. Hope that helps!

      @ThomEBurk 11 месяцев назад +1

    Hey Guy's, just curious about the the IP rating. I thought the Garmin Tread was IPX5 rated where the Zumo XT and XT2 are IPX7. To the best of my knowledge, IPX5 is not as water resistant as IPX7. Any insight would be appreciated, love the channel and I know you guys have been using Garmin for quite some time. Thanks Guys!

      Hey Micheal! Thanks for reaching out. Both the Tread and the Zumo are IPX7. Thus they are equally water resistant. My old zumo 590 was IPX5 and I had it running in pouring rain, snow etc. and it never gave me any issues. Cheers, Jesse

      It may work but would be really hard to open and close the glovebox as access to the latch would be limited. Would recommend staying with the smaller size treads. Hope this helps! Cheers, Jesse

    How good is the screen. I bought a 700i and its useless while riding. Its too dim and small. Really disappointed for the price. And at about -28c it started to complain about being cold and shutting down.

      Hey Kyle! The screen is fantastic. If you watch any of our ride videos you can see just how clear the gps screen is all day. It's super bright compared to the 700i. I've also run this GPS in -44C and many times in the -30s and it never skipped a beat! Hope that helps. Cheers, Jesse

    So hooking it up like that doesn't have an on going draw of power when the sled isn't being used??

    • @sledaddicz
      @sledaddicz  11 месяцев назад +2

      Hey Thomas. Great question. It is possible that there is a slight draw of power but its extremely minor. Put it to you this way.. I never put my battery on a tender in the summer. All our sleds have had this setup since 2018. I leave my sled all summer in the trailer and it starts back up in November no problem, with that plug in for the gps connected. Hope that answers your question! This really is the best way to go we find. Just make sure to remove your gps when leaving the sled for longer periods (i.e. lunch, at night) and you will never have an issue. Cheers, Jesse
