I think Squid is such a cool combo with Frost in this teaching sesh because unlike everyone else Frost has taught on stream: Jocat, Rarran, and Otzdarva, Squid has absolutely no experience with the game or stuff of this genre. Jocat, who was probably the least experienced when Frost started teaching them, was alreadying Ascension 15 and was avidly watching Frost, Rarran has played thousands of hours of TCGs, and Otz had several hundred hours under his belt. Seeing Squid is such a fresh perspective and its cool to see what a new player thinks about these cards.
Its actually so good the energy between these two for streaming lmao, frost n chat usually got me cheesing but squids got the gift of gab, yall are awesome

This is an awesome video, however - and maybe it's just my personal opinion - but I think it's not great when you teach a first time player. There are just so many basic stuff you need to get accustomed to in this game. Like when I started watching you the first time, I learned alot from you, and it was always the little things. Like how to use potions correctly, the value of card removal, etc. Things that didn't immediately jump out. When you teach someone who has some time in the game, it means you spend more time going into the small stuff. Here Squid didn't even know that the boss rolled up, she didn't get any time to get to know the game beforehand, and so it often feels like you're explaining things that maybe shouldn't be taught like that. It's like when someone holds your hands you learn less, because you haven't had the chance to fuck up yourself and learn the lesson. I kept feeling like your guidence - while it was good - was sort of unhelpful in a way? How do you learn to play the lagavulin without dying a few times? And also, again, you lose out the reactions you usually get from a novice player, who sees a card he likes and then you explain to them why it sucks and they rethink their understanding in real time. I found those to be both entertaining and insightful. Now, this video isn't bad at all imo, i really like Squid and your chemistry was hilarious, but I feel like I want to watch you guide her after she spends some time on the game on her own. Just my two cents, obviously maybe everybody else disagrees with me and loves this. Much love and waffles to everyone ❤
Couldn't agree more, for this game especially, it pays off a hundredfold, to teach players who have actually spent a good amount of time in the game. I have teached people too over the years, the game is too nuanced, and the real benefit from mentoring only comes when all the basics are already out of the way. I usually advise people to reach at least A10 if not A15 before they seek any help, unless they have really hit a brick wall after many hours.
I love the frosty tutorial vids so much please keep doing them! It's also really funny because i have like 3000 hours in this game, I'm not very good at it, but I'm still pretty decent. Whenever i watch my partner play i find it so relatable to these videos, the noob traps are truly universal lol.

Sooo funny story with this one - I was watching while also playing my own Ironclad game, and not paying full attention, so I found myself taking a couple card picks while thinking about her deck instead of mine (oops!) and favoring exhaust when I didn't have a good reason to do so.... then in the first shop of Act 2, the Ashes showed up, and made it all work. 😆
At least ive now confirmed im too atupid to play slay the spire. Managed to beat difficulty 0 with all 4 characters but have yet to even come close to beating difficulty 1 with any of them.
