    For any prospective Free Trial players, here's everything you aren't allowed to do on the Free Trial:
    - Can't use retainers or the market board (so no selling OR buying from other players)
    - Can't send friend requests or start a party (but you can ACCEPT friend requests and be added to parties)
    - Can't join a Free Company
    - Can't play any PvP game modes
    - Can't PM other players, or use the Shout or Yell channels
    - Can't trade with other players
    - Can't hold more than 300,000 gil at once
    - Can't level past 60 (or 70 once Stormblood is added in like a month or two)
    This might sound like a lot of restrictions, but if you have at least one friend who owns the game (or if you're planning on playing mostly solo anyway) then none of these really matter *that* much. You can still make friends and join parties as long as someone else adds you, you can still chat with people in Party Chat or the Say channel, and the gil cap is more of a mild annoyance than anything (you can't access the market board or trade, so what would you spend more gil on anyway?) The only place you're likely to really feel the restrictions is if you try to level a Crafter, but even then it's far from impossible - you just need to do things the hard way (gather and craft everything yourself, leveling a lot of crafters/gatherers at once since they're co-dependent) instead of skipping through everything by buying materials or finished crafted gear off the market board. Most people will want to avoid that, but for a certain kind of person doing things that way might even be more enjoyable than just buying everything and skipping through the leveling process (I am that kind of person).
    Despite the restrictions, you can still do practically everything in the accessible expansions with a Free Trial account - doubly so if you have a consistent group that includes at least one paying player to make a party. Take it from me, someone who spent over 1000 hours on the Free Trial, getting every single job to 60 and getting two relic weapons (one from ARR and one from Heavensward) among many other things. There's virtually nothing in the included expansions that is completely inaccessible to you as long as you're willing to put in a little extra effort to get the things you need yourself. I highly recommend it!

      They promised that trial players back into PVP... two years ago... So yeah theoretically trial players will be allowed back into PvP eventually... Don't hold your breath though.

    • @finalfan91
      @finalfan91 Год назад

      I will say that crafting will make you run out of space and selling things for a little bit of gil to an NPC to clear stuff out versus selling stuff on the market place just seems inefficient if you cant access retainers. I also think the devs know the free trial is gonna make people buy the game cuz who the hell is gonna committ to 60 levels of grinding and not buy the game.

    • @Zanador
      @Zanador Год назад +5

      @@finalfan91 on the other hand, you're not really losing money by selling to retainers because you can't hold all that money anyway on Trial.
      IMO there are two kinds of Free Trial players: those who will buy the game after a week to get rid of the restrictions, and those who will do literally everything allowed by the trial before buying just to get the most value out of it. I was in the latter camp.

    Sprout who just reached lvl 41 here!
    Took a hell of a lot of convincing to invest in this as I am not in support of subscription-based games, but so many of my veteran friends play this and I wanted something new.
    I'm no stranger to the FF series per say and this does take getting used to, but heck I'd be lying if I said it wasn't fun. I strongly believe when people say the pace and suspense grows the further you dive in, so I'm here for the ride. We gotta keep going!

    Conjurer being a battle pet class is a very common misconception apparenrly. I can see why now lol.
    Idk why devs still dont show the role of each class can select in character creator. Heard many selecting marauder or gladiator not knowing they're tank roles, same for conjurer too.

  • @trenchtierstudios554

    One word of advice for new players. Don't make healer as your first job. Healers; especially later on; have to have a lot more situational awareness and understanding of boss mechanics. Because if you die; then it most likely will be a party wipe. Tanks are not as bad due to the fact that they can survive a lot more mess ups than any other job class.
    Due to how FFXIV is set up; you'll be able to go back and try other jobs anyways. So once you start understanding the dungeons, trials, and raid mechanics; it'll be easier to progress as a healer.

    • @sheilliany9014
      @sheilliany9014 Год назад +4

      I started of as a WHM and it was perfectly fine, maybe because WHM is the easier healer though

    • @c.j.8263
      @c.j.8263 Год назад

      @@sheilliany9014 Same. though for me it was because i've already experienced the whole "situational awareness" thing in other games with support classes. ability rotations and the like are very simple for buff, shield or barrier supports in most games, the difficulty is keeping a very quick eye on the HP and status effects on your allies.
      not doing so in final fantasy 14 especially results in the newbie healer not clearing debilitating debuffs, not protecting the DPS from a brutal AoE hit, and the tank getting bursted by the bosses' signature attack. all 3 require that quick reaction that comes from having a good situational awareness.

    • @belphegor_dev
      @belphegor_dev Год назад

      Terrible advice. White mage is one of the easiest jobs in the game.

    • @c.j.8263
      @c.j.8263 Год назад

      @@belphegor_dev you're missing the point. you can have a mechanically easy job (white mage) in a harder role (healer).
      anybody can press cure and medica on allies when their HP bar is damaged. it's mechanically braindead, it makes white mage easy to get into, and i get that it's why you see white mage as an easy job.
      optimally playing any healer, however, requires something not everybody has - the ability to quickly react to emergency situations rather than plan ahead.
      - an enemy de-buffs your DPS, now they have to wait on you to cleanse it. a good healer cleanses it in under a second and all is good. a bad one is lucky to cleanse it at all, and the party is hurt by this.
      - the raid boss uses an AoE and your DPS is rapidly dying. a good healer reflexively heals during the burst, and all is good. a bad one is lucky to take their eyes off the party's tank, and the party is hurt by this.
      these apply to ALL healers, not just the more mechanically hard ones. white mage is the easiest job in a difficult role to play properly.

    I feel like "bard is also a damage dealer" is true but also an understatement. 2 years ago I wouldn't even touch it, I hated how little damage the bard could take in open world. It required a lot of kiting I didn't care for back then. But BRD is a true high speed glass cannon imo. It's great for soloing ARR dungeons super fast because you just breeze through the whole thing at the speed of light with peleton and slaughter everything in your path. And esp once you get higher levels and you can constantly just roll out those buffs in a rotation, bards can make or break a party. I could be biased. I ran a World of Darkness the other day and we had only bards for DPS in the party, it was chaos and I loved it lol. People were telling our party what to do and stuff like "B is belly" and they were like "um actually B is for band, we're a band not a party" idk bards are so great lol not just the class and job but the people who play it are usually delightful.

    I really recommend beginners to start with damage class instead of tank/tealer, especially the main quest line can provide large amount of exp that can help leveling up 2-3 job to almost max level in those exp boost server.
    Tanks/ healers also require some other understanding such as tanking/healing which is a little bit more complicated compared to Damage Dealers, tanks/healers also need to spend some more time in doing the main quest.
    After you finished the main quest, 1 of the leveling up way is doing duties, and exp boost are granted to tanks/healers most of the time since they are less popular.
    So starting with damage class will basically save your time and easier start of the game.
    But if you are really into tanks/healers, just go ahead and ignore the above.
    Enjoy the Game! Light of Warriors

    • @Jolsn
      @Jolsn  Год назад +5

      You do, but I actually can't think of a good reason you'd do so with the Complete Edition existing. If you're on the free trial, you want to avoid getting the Starter Edition for as long as possible if you want to save money, because it will start forcing you to buy a subscription after 30 days. On the Squenix store, Endwalker + Starter Edition sold separately is €45 while the Complete Edition is €39.99 and you can just get it when you reach the end of the free trial. I unfortunately said "the latest expansion" in the video, but I was referring to the complete edition thats always available. Good catch though! de.store.square-enix-games.com/final-fantasy-xiv-online-complete-edition---digital

    Im new in this game and im currently on stormblood in terms of msq. It's most likely that im not be able to hardcore raid on this game, so im curious to know what other endgame activities that i can do once im done with all of the msq?

    • @DantoriusD
      @DantoriusD Год назад +2

      The question is, what is your definition of "Hardcore" Endgamecontent? Since youre already in SB you should be Aware that there are some Trials. All of these Trials also exist in a "Extreme" Variation. These ex Trials often serves as a Stepping Stone into the Real Raiding. There are challenging but have Room for Mistakes. Also Damage Checks arend that thight so as long as you have a Basic understanding in how to play your job and how mechanics working in this game you can do them rven as abnot so experienced Player.
      Also you have the Normal Version of the Raid Series and since the Name suggests it its normal or easy Mode. Like the Trials you tackle wirhin the MSQ these cab easy done in a random Group, have decent Gear (the latest turns) and also usually a really interesting Story.
      Aside of that you have the Alliance Raid Series for 24 People. These are also Designed for a random Party and not really hard. And again these have decent Gear (the Last current Alliance Raid)
      These are actually all "Endgame" Activities you can do. Once youre done with the MSQ you have lot of other Activities to do. Level a differend Class,Level up Crafter, Doing deep Dungeon, doing old Raids or Extreme Trials unsync for Mount and Glamour, do Roleplay, Just Chill in one of the Major Cities......etc. but for all these activities you dont necessary have a Character at the Max level.

      @@DantoriusD i mean, im more of a solo player and im also aware that the hardest difficulty of raid is almost impossible to do without proper communication with your party. That's why raiding in highest difficulty is not for me. I also don't see the point in maxing my job level if im not be able to participate in highest difficulty of raid anyways. I was hoping that there are other activities that are worth the paid subscription every month. Also, what i mean by hardcore content, are those content that i can fully utilize a max job character. (Besides raiding in my case)

    • @DantoriusD
      @DantoriusD Год назад +1

      @@chocobojam8776 i mean its not like the MSQ is over once you hit lvl 90. You also have the Post Launch Patches that require of course a lvl 90 Character with Dungeons and more Trials. And as i mentioned the Alliance and normal Raid Series also requires a lvl 90 Character. Other than that its up to you. When youre playing the Game solo and just as a MSQ enjoyer than i dont think you will have much fun once youre done with the MSQ. Maybe do the normal raids and alliance raids at least once for the Story. And then i dunno. Level a differend class to see the other Job quest Lines? Or just quit the Game and come back when there is a new Patch with new MSQ Parts.

      @@chocobojam8776 You might be surprised actually. The community tends to stick to specific strategies for harder content so pick up groups (via party finder) most of the time don't need to use comms. I've cleared savage raid tiers this way without comms myself, although I'm currently in a static raid group where we do use voice for callouts etc and because we find it more fun to chat.

    • @Zanador
      @Zanador Год назад

      If your definition of "endgame" is "difficult, max-level content" then yeah there isn't much that can be done solo - it's pretty much all Raids and Extreme Trials. But there's an endless amount of content that isn't those things but can still be the thing you grind in order to achieve a personal goal.
      Crafting/Gathering stuff, Treasure Dungeons, Gold Saucer stuff, Eureka/Bozja, Deep Dungeons, PvP, Blue Mage stuff, Relic Weapons, making gil, collecting glamours, decorating a house, etc. If you value the rewards you can get from these as much as you would value the gear/titles from high-end raiding, then they can be just as fun and valid to focus on.

I could give you some tipps if you have any specific Questions.

    fwiw, there's one item in the online store that does actually have an in-game benefit, the SDS Fenrir mount (ff7 motorcycle), whose slowest speed is faster than other mounts. Once you upgrade your mount speed in a zone it's the same as every other mount, but if you're really impatient, during new expansions it can get you around new zones faster at the start than normal mounts would. But that's also not something super-new players need to even think about for a while.
