Hurricane Juliette was a let down to say the least. NW swell shear cut the size in half, but we still were fortunate to receive more warm water and some very consistent surf. The steep angled SE swell made for some very wedged rights and some long out to sea lefts, such a fun session! The snub nose has become the ultimate small wave performance SUP surfboard. The tail template / tail block is based off one of my small wave shortboards, the outline based off the Infinity i69 Albee Layer Model, and all with the idea the squish the board down. When it is glassy or light onshore, this board flies. It drives without pumping and lifts through foam climbs and floaters. Sometimes the carves feel extremely similar to my shortboard. The extra lift and speed this board generates allows for 1 to 2 extra turns on every wave, it really gives the option to shorten your line and take advantage of every opportunity! Currently, I have been riding the MFC Kai Quad 2's on this board. Hippo Stick - Blurr 7.0 Paddles #supsurfing #hurricanejuliette #standuppaddlesurf
Ok, I can't believe how casually you went around that surfer. I would have never thought to take the high line to pass him.
hahaha yewww!! Definitely had my speed up. Ironically, he was all frustrated at me and gave me the SUP thing of course too haha but now we are friends.
@@Twonicles too funny hahahah
I like that I want my MTV guitar playing.
Epic surfing. That drop in tho was fierce. It's not easy being the only guy on a sup in a crowd of surfers...and you're catching 10x more waves. Lol. 😁👍
He was bummed haha but we are friends now 🤣 such fun waves for SUP surfing. So weak for shortboarding hahaha
If you're catching 10x more waves then you're being a greedy pig who deserves to be dropped in on
the flex on the dude who tried to cut your wave, and he got angry hahahah
He was tripping at first! Haha we are cool now 😂
Shredding.
Yewww thank you Marc!! Always nailing the shots!!!!
Go man!! 🤙🏻
Thanks Robert! yewww
Sick! Subbed.
Epic! Thank you!!!
love yr vids. Your turns are so seamless. If you go shorter
Thank you Neil appreciate it bro!
Try quobba fins for low liter boards as training wheels for balance. They're also good in really stormy conditions. They stick like glue to the water, with decsent manueverability, but zero release in small waves.
So good again! What s the size of the surfboard you usually use?
I ride shortboards from 5'8 to 6'0", around 30 Liters all of them
@@Twonicles Thank you
Was that at Old Man's the other day? Thought I saw you there.
This is up at Trestles!! I was out at old man's for about 45 minutes on Wednesday though! Haha yewwww
Maybe it was Thursday haha 🙈
For a begginer, a 9.0 size is a good choice ?
Yes definitely! a neighbor gave my brother and myself an 11 foot laird sup. I started on that and worked my way down. After 11' I went to 9'2. Then 8'. Now under 7'6"
Is this basically a RNB?
Similar! the tail is way different and the nose is choppped
How much do you weigh??
Hello James!
I weigh 170 pounds -or- 77.2 KG
@@Twonicles what would you consider a “low volume” SUP for someone weighing 195 pounds? I am surfing a 9 x 31 board now at probably 150 liters plus or minus. I would like to go a little narrower and lighter. What size/ volume are you surfing at 170 lbs…
@@hrburrell I went from 9' x 31 to 8' x 28 then 7'4 x 25. I am now down to 24 and ~73 liters. Anything under 100 liters would be a huge improvement for you. I weigh 73 kg, so my cubic liters is similar. In use that as reference for people sizing down
