@@bm7024 It was meant to kill him, it's just that in real life, when people are shot in the head with low caliber round, or from a large distance, they often wont die immediately; there's been many recorded cases of people surviving unconsciously for up to hours after being shot in the head, and even surviving and making a full recovery after recieving medical attention. So basically the clip was just realistic af.
Easily the worst of the lot. Not instant, not painless.

Honorable mention: the scene in Drive where a woman's head is blown off by a shotgun, in slow-motion, no less. BRUTALLY gory, and yes, shotguns actually do that if the right load is used.

It's a .455 caliber Webley. From the time frame that Peaky Blinders takes place it was most likely the 265-grain Mark-II cartridge. Velocities are somewhat less then the .45ACP clocking in at around 750fps. So it's very possible to do what it did in that scene.

I know you have a bunch of these, and I haven't gotten around to watching em all yet, but I would highly recommend the "diner scene" from Boogie Nights, and the "Juarez convoy scene" from Sicario. Cut it with a knife, the tension

A lot of these headshots are so unrealistic. I feel that departed had the best headshots in any movie. They hit the floor immediately. I feel in a lot of these movies they delay falling. I guess they do it for dramatic effect. But it can look kind of silly

Yes, it can penetrate the skull at close range and come out the opposite end, in close range. In the movie, the gun woukd have fire black powder or low pressure smokeless powder. A modern high pressure .357 magnum would certainly go in and come out at much longer ranges.

One thing movies fail to capitalize on is the deafening ring after the shot. Its accurate to potray and would really draw the viewer into the intenity that the situation just called for and displayed

I don't think movie makers understand that when things are shot in the head it's typically a lot more unpleasant looking after the fact. It causes a neural disconnection and typically there is a lot of twitching, spasms, and movement from the body.
