  • The Secret Life and Difficult Final Years of Jack Lord Steve McGarrett Hawaii Five-O.
Jack Lord was an American actor and director, best known for his portrayal of Steve McGarrett in the popular television series "Hawaii Five-O" from 1968 to 1980. Born on December 30, 1920, in New York City, Lord began his acting career on Broadway in the 1940s before transitioning to film in the 1950s. He appeared in several notable films such as "Dr. No" (1962), the first James Bond movie, and "The Hangman" (1964). However, it was his role as the tough and no-nonsense police detective Steve McGarrett in "Hawaii Five-O" that made him a household name. In addition to his acting career, Lord was also an accomplished artist and had exhibitions of his paintings and sculpture. He passed away on January 21, 1998, in Honolulu, Hawaii, but his iconic portrayal of Steve McGarrett continues to inspire and entertain audiences to this day.

Back in the day, me too and every single week I just had to spin around with him during that opening scene where he turns around on that balcony lol. Oh for those wonderful innocent childhood days again. The funny thing about this show though, is that although it was deemed fit for children to watch, it dealt with a lot of adult themes which I guess I didn't really quite grasp as a kid back then but when I see it now I can understand it a lot better and despite all of the technology we have today, things haven't really changed much in terms of how people behave, relationships etc and shows like this often reflect it in an entertaining kind of a way. Many thanks.

Jack was great in Hawaii 5-0, and I am sorry that his private life had some very hurtful times. But when someone has a child they should make every effort to be there and support that child. At first we were just tuning in for the sake of nostalgia but then we realized that it’s a quality, classic show with really interesting plots! The memories are fun and it’s refreshing to watch a show that was filled with good characters of all races WITHOUT all of the woke messaging shoe horned in to every episode. It was a clean show, too. 👍🤟

One actress on Hawaii Five-0 said he wore a toupee , but an actor who routinely guest starred in the show said no , it was his own hair , he just sprayed a lot of hair spray in it , or earlier on , hair gel , which I agree with him . Because if you watch a scene from a fourth season episode called " R&R&R" , he's walking out on a tarmac at the airport to meet someone and his hair is just really blowing in the wind , just like it's his own . If it were a toupee , it would have blown off , or loose at the front . Even if he did wear a toupee , he wouldn't have been the only entertainer at that time to wear one , like Burt Reynolds , John Wayne , Frank Sinatra , Bing Crosby , etc. The first three guys listed I have seen pictures and early movie footage of them with thinning hair so I knew they wore toupees , not Jack Lord though .

But then came the new Steve McGarrett ... Alex O'Laughlin came to take the role in the Hawaii 5-0 reboot in 2010. Both series were excellent, but I enjoyed the new one much more

I always thought Jack Lord was the best and better McGarrett. Because he could play it best. Then came the series from 2000. That was the only way the main actor could do it, and he wasn't quite up to McGarrett's original. The main actor didn't fit in with the time being and also not with the character. Jack Lord could and always will be the better McGarrett. And that's what you saw at the end. Because the McGarrett from 2000 had reached its physical limits. That's why I think and found that Jack Lord was the better McGarrett. Even so, he was the better actor for the role. Not the Australian. Sorry to the Australian. It wasn't you. The better one was Jack Lord

The show "Hawaii five O" was passable pap, I did not go for Lord or the NCI:Miami star David Caruso there is/was something 'off' about them. "Why is Iran called Persia?
The term Persia was used for centuries and originated from a region of southern Iran formerly known as Persis, alternatively as Pārs or Parsa, modern Fārs. The use of the name was gradually extended by the ancient Greeks and other peoples to apply to the whole Iranian plateau.: For most of history, the tract of land now called Iran was known as Persia. It wasn't until 1935 that it adopted its present name.J"
