The story that I heard was that Jack Lord had gotten married but that it had broken down and he'd divorced his wife but didn't know she was pregnant. She then sent him a letter telling him that the son he didn't know about had died.

I sorry I don't feel as though Jack Lords life was so tragic. Lose your Mother one year due to colon cancer at age 49, your son the next year, your father was an invalid since age 42. You best friend OD's, your 2 Uncle's & your father dies & you get diagnosed with MS all in a 2 year period. But remember: if you think you have it rough you don't have to look far to see someone else who has it rougher than you do.
still a huge fan of jack lord and hawaii5-0 best series ever they will never be anything thing better than jack lord and the real hawaii5-0 there is only one
Was on New Zealand TV at 11pm, used to sit in the dark as I did not want my parents to know. Loved the series but found Jack Lord’s acting very wooden. May he Rest In Peace!
@Tineke Wemyss Then you weren't paying much attention. Wooden means not showing any emotions, making any facial expressions, or changing in vocal tones. Are you saying he never did any of that? He was playing a serious character whose environment and situation didn't change much from week to week. He was a detective who was dealing with crime all the time, so he had to be serious. That's not the same as being wooden. He did laugh and smile at times, and there was an emotional scene in one episode where he cries after hearing that his nephew died. Did you miss that?
Many people lose a child, even an only child. It doesn't destroy their lives. I think Jack Lord and his wife were very happy, especially in Hawaii with the twelve year success of Hawaii Five-O. (The "5O" part, btw, is a salute to Hawaii's statehood, becoming the 50th state in the Union. As most people know, the tv series and showcasing airlines, hotels, Pacific ocean, Hawaiian Islanders, sunshine, palm trees, volcanoes, and floral shirts, did more for Hawaiian tourism than any govt PR or ad campaign could have. Jack Lord prob wanted to be a movie star, not a tv star, maybe in James Bond action/adventure type movies, but it wasn't meant to be. Looks-wise he could have been a body-double for JFK.
He spent the rest of his life in Honolulu after 1968. I don't remember hearing any stories of him feeling oppressed in Hawaii. No stories of "Poor me...get me out of this hell!" ...no, no stories like that.
I found this video to be interesting and sad .😥😭 I can not believe that Jack Lord' s first wife, who was she again ? Cicely Anne Willard would not let Jack Lord spend time with his son , Jack . She had no right to do that to Jack Lord when Jack Lord have every right to spend time with his son. Just who did Cicely Anne Willard think that she was when she refused to let Jack Lord have any relationship with their son ? I know for a fact that if I had given birth to Jack Lord ' s baby, I never would have been so nasty like this. I believe that a father and a mother should share a baby together. Not do it half way. Seriously if I had given birth to Jack Lord ' s baby , I would share our bundle of joy ! I was really surprised that Jack and Marie Lord almost had a child of their own , and I was sad that Marie Lord had a miscarriage. Still Jack and Marie Lord remained married for 44 years, that is really amazing ! Jack and Marie Lord were a wonderful couple, and I hope that they are still together in Heaven ! Thank you for sharing this video with me . Keep up the good work !
I have just about every article I can find about Jack and never read anything about him saying the earth was overpopulated, Marie was 15 years older than him making her 44 when she married and they both stated they didn't want children, altho Marie did miscarry one time (I have this from a reliable source) and after that would be too old to try again. They loved children and interacted in many children's charities and I run a group where many members met Jack as children and said he always had time for them.
Today, the real version of the events behind Lord's son's demise is that he died from Hepatitis Virus on August 24, 1955, when he was only months away from celebrating his thirteen birthday.
We're happy to know that had a fun memory of growing up with Jack! Thank you for sharing your life story. What other types of video would you like to see?
little trivia. He was offered part of Captain Kirk for the Star Trek . He was offered part after Lloyd Bridges said no way. Lord was more in line with original Captain Pike. He was rejected because he wanted percentage and royalties. Which Roddenberry said no way . That he never sell out his ownership Which only he did to DESILU. Which GR regretted. I knew all about Lord. He was a very talented Artist by the way
The baby Lord is shown holding in the still frame played McGarrett's nephew Tommy (son of his sister Mary Ann Whalen) in the Season 1 two-part episode "Once Upon a Time." Ironically, the fictional child died of an illness in this episode, leukemia or something similar.
You didn't mention Jack's role as "Stoney Burke" in Stoney Burke, the contemporary Western tv series broadcast on ABC from October 1, 1962, until May 20, 1963.
The fan base for years went on and on about how a new movie with all the originals was in the works. What they didn't seem to know was that Lord had started showing signs of Alzheimer's even before the series ended, so there was no way that years later he could have participated.
I am surprised with all the resources available today, detectives, investigative journalists, internet, web sites, more that far more accurate facts would be known about Jack Lord's son's death (and life).
You saw your son once? I am sure he did not feel too successful; as his life went on and by the time he met with his demise. It’s ashame. No matter what the circumstances were between his first wife and the child’s mother. That was your flesh and blood. You saw the workers at the cafeteria, your co-stars and your barber more than you saw your son. It’s a very sad commentary.
At least Alex O'Loughlin, who played McGarrett in the reboot, has always been a part of his eldest son Saxon's life, despite not being with the boy's mother.
@Jo Ann Kelly This information that Jack saw his son only once has been on the internet for years and no source is cited. Movie magazines ran the story. The boy died sometime in the early fifties. Jack was divorced from the boy's mother at the time he died. Whether he saw him often or not is not known for certain. And Jack died years ago, so why are you addressing the comment to him as though he can read it?
@@sharonjensen3016 And so what? This video is not stating any facts, only rumors that were on the internet for years. Whether Jack had a relationship with his son or not cannot be confirmed or denied. Jack was in the Merchant Marines when the boy was born and was away at sea supporting him, which is why couldn't see him too often.
Jack Lord’s son died in 1950 from the age of 12 from leukemia according to the death certificate his ex-wife sent him to notify him of his only child’s death. Lord had only seen his son once prior to his death.
Jack's son died in 1955. Author Sylvia Lynch confirmed this in her book, Jack Lord, an Acting Life. There is no confirmation anywhere of how many times Jack saw him or didn't.
Could've had a recurring role in the James Bond films but asked for too much money. Not real popular among his co-stars on 5-O. A perfectionist and huge Elvis fan.
He didn't ask for too much money. The Bond people wanted him to sign an exclusive contract which would have kept him from doing other work, so he walked.

Glad to know that you're a fan of Jack! Which episode of Hawaii Five-O is your favorite?
Did you miss that?
surprisingly being a huge Hawaii Five-O fan I knew all these facts but good video
No..he wanted to be a painter and he studied that in college. He did tv
Only to get his name known so people would buy his paintings.
He spent the rest of his life in Honolulu after 1968. I don't remember hearing any stories of him feeling oppressed in Hawaii. No stories of "Poor me...get me out of this hell!" ...no, no stories like that.
Yes always thought he could have played JFK
He was a favorite of mines. I am so sorry to hear about his son. I loved Hawaii five-O
I was sad to know he only had one son and wasn't around much.
Good video. Thanks for the info.

JACK LORD IS STEVE MCGARRETT
Prayers
I almost thought the thumb nail was William Shatner. But he would’ve made an excellent member of star fleet.
😢never missed the show loved jack
His original name was John Ryan
Jack Lord guest starred in the first opening debut series on CBS Have Gun Wiill Travel starring Richard Boone who also loved the Hawaiian Islands.
Sad. Rip greatness Amen 🙏.
He always had sad eyes😪
No mention of Stoney Burke? That's the show that made him famous, altho 5-0 was a bigger hit.
That was my thought, too! I was reading the comments to see if anyone else remembered Stoney Burke.
I love Jack, Hawaii five-o was amazing!
Sending prayers 🙏❤️🙏 great actor ❤️ so 😭 missed🙏🙏🙏💕😎
Thank you for your beautiful message to Jack! What is your favorite role of him?
I remember hearing that he didn't want any children because he felt the earth was over populated. So i was surprised to hear about this.
I grew up knowing Jack and knew him as Uncle Jack and Aunt Marie. I loved them dearly. They treated me as family
We're happy to know that had a fun memory of growing up with Jack! Thank you for sharing your life story. What other types of video would you like to see?
@@FactsVerse any fun memories of Jack and Marie. I have so many memories. Thanks
I liked jack as Stoney Burke
You didn't mention his show Stoney Burke.
little trivia. He was a very talented Artist by the way
I think he’d make an awesome Starship Captain….
If Star Trek was more of an anthology series he could have been the captain of another Starship….

Jack Lord handsome guy
Jack ,Tall and Handsome.I was in love with him when I was young, marry a Tall Handsoms man.He pass away 5 year ago, miss him ever day.
What a gorgeous man.
We absolutely agree! Thank you for your watching our video. Be on the lookout for the next one!
Surprising to hear Jack Lord had a son from Adelaide Australia
Deepest condolences Jack sorry you had to go through such a tragedy 🦋🌈🌹
Thank you for your message to Jack Lord. May he find peace. Be safe and have a great day ♥
@@FactsVerse And you🦋
I am surprised with all the resources available today, detectives, investigative journalists, internet, web sites, more that far more accurate facts would be known about Jack Lord's son's death (and life).
At least Alex O'Loughlin, who played McGarrett in the reboot, has always been a part of his eldest son Saxon's life, despite not being with the boy's mother.
his son died without him he knowing he had a son. I was adopted and I understand. I grew up calling Jack my uncle.
@@vrinda5303 thank you. No one needs to even discuss this. Jack was a great person and uncle. People need to let it go.

Lord, oh Lord, what's happened to Jack?
Jack Lord’s son died in 1950 from the age of 12 from leukemia according to the death certificate his ex-wife sent him to notify him of his only child’s death. Lord had only seen his son once prior to his death.
Jack's son died in 1955. Author Sylvia Lynch confirmed this in her book, Jack Lord, an Acting Life. There is no confirmation anywhere of how many times Jack saw him or didn't.
You forgot about Stoney Burke!!!
I was going to mention that, but there were some pictures of him in cowboy gear.
@@QueenBee-gx4rp That TV series ran 1962 -1963. Lot's of big names were on that show.
So sad about his son
Us too! May Jack and his son find peace 🙏
Very sad.
I didn't remember him to well because I was born in the 70 s but I didn't know that he was married nor did I know that his son died .
A great actor.

The most surprising was he only saw his son once ?

He could have been James Bond he at least had that look.
Could've had a recurring role in the James Bond films but asked for too much money. Not real popular among his co-stars on 5-O. A perfectionist and huge Elvis fan.
Oh, that explains his hair…after Elvis!
@@gracie3174 exactly
So he was a huge Elvis fan? Hmm, ok I can understand exactly why. :)
He didn't ask for too much money. The Bond people wanted him to sign an exclusive contract which would have kept him from doing other work, so he walked.
Very sad story of his life😢❤
