Really appreciate the suggestion to proxy these. While I think the collection of cards is actually pretty worthwhile for the price because they put some expensive reprints in there, its still chafes to see $40 for 5 cards when often at least two of the cards are commons/uncommons.
I recently got a friend of mine into Magic, and he (and I) are both pretty big Marvel fans, so as the Marvel collab was coming up, we (and some of my other friends) were all looking forward to making Marvel decks, shame that it had to be locked behind a 40$ secret lair which will probably be scalped to hell on top of that. Guess it’s about time I learn how to make proxies
Berserk on Wolverine sounds rad as heck. Me, I like making someone else's creature go nuts when it's attacking anohter player. You wanna mess up a table for less money, Duelist's Heritage is sweet for that too.
As someone who used to sleep on my marvel comics I am going to be purchasing one or two of these. As much as they say limited they also said the Lord of the rings holiday boxes we're going to be limited and I still see those on the shelf. I say if there's one or two that you like by those. You don't have to buy the whole set. Don't try to make an investment in this. Do it because she loved the commander and you want to build around it. Love you big hyenas!!!
Background is fire in the video today. Cards are dope too. May only buy Wolverine. No consistent Gruul deck yet, but have the Stomping Ground. Can't wait to Fling Wolverine fastball special style brother!
My friend and I were debating about supporting this one because the cards are just too good, then I got to your video “oh yea we can just proxy them…” I get my storm of storms deck our wallets stay cool till the final fantasy set
Great video as always. Storm is crazy. I think Manamorphose is one of the best cards for her. It helps with storm count if you want, but it's also very busted when it gets storm. Two mana, add 10 mana and draw 5 or whatever? That's just awesome. If you're in a chain of extra combats and activate this, it fuels you to keep going. Might want cards in this deck that allow you to float mana for the turn
They're cool commanders, but nothing that makes me too hyped. If they had them sitting on the shelf at my LGS I'd probably still buy one, but other than that proxy it.
Thanks man! I’m looking forward to proxying up the Storm deck since she seems powerful and fun. Otherwise, big pass though. $200 for 25-30 cards is big sad. I love Marvel, but already have dedicated games like Snap and Champions to play as those heroes; no real desire to spend a bunch to shoehorn them into Magic.
I'm happy for the folks who appreciate these. But this is an easy temptation to pass up, for me. If it were Magneto, Venom, and Gambit, though, I'd be broke.
I am okay with others proxying cards in casual play, but I never wanted to do that myself. I am proud to own and play with legitimate cards. Until today, that is. Now, I will proxy mechanically unique secret lair cards that are too expensive. Fuck it. They deserve it, the vultures.
@@bettercommanderI appreciate the kind words. I’m not burnt out, I’m just jaded against Marvel. Does it really effect me? Nah. I’m just not gunna play them. Your viewpoints are really great.
All the RC had to do was pre-ban the Walking Dead SL. Sure, they would have been martyrs, but their stand would have at least made a heavy statement: we do not require WotC to make direct-to-player unique cards for our player made format.
I know I'm at least going to TRY to get a few of these, mostly because I want Wolverine as a gift for my dad. If I can grab storm and a copy of wolverine for me as well then that would be gravy. Not sure about the rest of them, but I'm going to think for a while before I impulse buy all of them when I don't even need to.
Im not into UB, and I skip them for the most part (just get the few singles I need) So if they are not making them after in Universe Within version this SLD will be a total pass for me
Black Panthers card is the only miss with me tbh. I just think ANOTHER selesnya +1/+1 counter deck. Selesnya has become the new Boros. I guess it is going to take them creating a whole new plane with a brand new group which are Selesnya centric but with differing overall viewpoints than those of the Selesnyan Conclave on Ravnica. I honestly do not know what other values Selesnya brings to the table other than "the good of the many"... but I am sick of every Selenya commander being a card that supports +1/+1 counters, enchantment decks or tokens. Give me something different (and no.... WotC. People are not going to build a Selenya deck around Vehicles. There are so many better choice commanders for that.)
@@Poenas haha, I didn't mean it in a way like they suck.. I honestly thin Rip from Duskmourn would make a good GW vehicle commander. I was making a joke about myself in a way because I own three seperate EDH decks built around vehicles. A Boros deck with Captain Rex Nebula. An Esper deck with Sydri, Galvanic Genius. A mono-blue on with either Cosima, God of the Voyage or Katsumasa, the Animator as the commanders.
It also tends to show when the prices of these "expensive" reprints are a lot less than the price of the normal card. These might be an exception because of the marvel craze, but I'm thinking some of them will be a lot cheaper.
@@bettercommander Honestly, wait until a couple months after they're released and the cost of some singles might be as cheap or cheaper than a high quality proxy. And if not, definitely proxy if you want it
None of these commanders are remotely interesting to me. I think captain America is the most interesting one, but not into another equipment matters deck. I had big hopes for Wolverine mehh
@@bettercommander also in a sucker for villains, so no Dr DOOM!? or some other favorites!? Nah I'm good, also I find the the marvel cards that were made to not have any gameplay effects that I'm into and very lackluster
@@bettercommander :Thanks. They blew up the comics, and now Magic's starting in with it. I've skipped several sets so far, though I do buy singles. And I bought a box of Bloomburrow for my son and I to crack. But the constant firehose of product... if some of these sets aren't for me, it's Hasbro that's made me that way.
Frankly I'm disgusted and sick to death of these crossover sets. They almost always have overpowered cards so you can't just ignore them, and they feel like corporate deciscions rather than any form of actual descign choices.
Really appreciate the suggestion to proxy these. While I think the collection of cards is actually pretty worthwhile for the price because they put some expensive reprints in there, its still chafes to see $40 for 5 cards when often at least two of the cards are commons/uncommons.
Yeah, I'll find a similar commander and proxy up, switch in the sub commanders if I run into fuddy duddy's
@@bettercommanderFudds ruin a lot of fun things in life
Unless the fuddy boys bring a jewelers glass to inspect your cards you’re in the clear
Yeah and the moment @bettercommander said you can get a commander precon for the cost of the 5 to 6 cards.
Read the title and immediately thought “just proxy”
Amen my brother

The silver lining in your case, there will be more and easier accessible marvel products incoming.

It's a lot, considering they can print off a commander deck and sell it for $25 (the starter commander decks for example).
