About 4 years ago, I found this video, a beginning digital "artist". No good anatomy, no good composition, only dreams I had little ability to put onto canvas. All I knew, after seeing this, is that I wanted to make glowy things. I loved lighting, and I loved glowing fish. Now, years later, it's something that comes easy to me. I don't always use this very method, but it was the building blocks for me to learn others, and to begin to dare to play. Thank you so much for making this tutorial, as it continued to inspire me to make art, and throw in glowy fish to my pieces. Kids on youtube, don't ever give up on something you love. You may be bad at it now, but remember, it's a learned skill, not a talent. God bless you, and may your sunny days be filled with warmth, your rainy days with peace, and your snowy days with child like wonder.
I love how you draw fish! Especially GLOWING ONES!!!! i love glowy things like this. you should do a speedpaint or something that just has a lot of glowy things in it. like a dark cave with glowing fungi, crystals, water, etc.~
Thank you! honestly you did a fantastic job considering your tutorial was an actual tutorial that showed the steps not super sped up, not skipping parts, and actually zooming in to show the tools you were working with. How I wish others would do things like this.
これ助かるわぁ、ありがとうね💓 I haven’t used sai in a *REALLLY long time* (it got corrupted somehow and I never bothered to download it again) I just use PS now -cause I’m salty lol- Also I just play around with the dodge/shadow/highlight tool. Thanks for the tutorial btw💗 I think I’m ready to try sai again💖✨
im getting my first ever drawing tablet and im not very good at art on paper, so i decided to get good at digital art to see if that works. This video really has helped me a lot with getting started on digital art.
I started watching for the tutorial but I kept watching because it was like super peaceful, serene, and calming. ME GUSTA! 10/10 would glowing fish again
Yes! Please make more videos like this! I loved watching this video, the way you explained everything was amazing! Thank you so much! Please make more videos like this!
Thanks you really much i begin digital art not too long ago and i couldn't found a tutorial that was good explaining until i found this video it really help me
I can't believe that I never added a dark background... I never even thought of this. Now I know why the glow effect didn't really work that well. Great video!
This was very helpful I’m a beginner digital artist so I’m just trying to find every tutorial about paint tool sai 2 and just basic drawing tips thank you so much for making this!!
So very nice! Wanted reference material for how lights emit and bloom. Specifically discussion about when the core color should be more or less white. Not to mention, it's a very pretty piece and you have such a good eye for painting with light. Glowing fish alone is just a rad idea! Thanks for sharing this.
This was such a great tutorial, I learned a lot from it!! Would it be possible for you to do a tutorial on the benefits of coloring lineart vs just having a dark brown/black lineart? I would love to know your opinion on this! :)
That would be awesome! Btw, If you did this it would be nice if you could explain how to make nice neat lineart, because I really struggle with this ^-^ thaaanks!
Thanks!! It's really useful! I've just started to draw digitaly and I'm glad I found your video, some of the other ones I've found are really hard to understand!
This video was very helpful! Very simple to understand vs many other videos that I've seen that complicated things for me even more than before, lol. I really enjoyed this tutorial and will be practicing what I've learned from this tutorial, thank you! :)
I was so frustrated because I had to draw a orb of water for "water powers" for someone, and I was about to give up, but then I saw your video on this and you showed the fire, and it really helped! I got struck with inspiration.
Please make a video on how you color your lineart. It looks amazing on your artworks! Every time I try to make my line art some other color than black, it just looks messy and out of place. Thank you so much for your videos!
Belle Perdue hi! well, for figure studies I personally recommend the site line-of-action.com I use it a lot. It basically gives you models to draw in a limited amount of time. When time runs out for one, it continues to the next. You can try a normal session, for which you pick if the models you want are male or/and female, if they're nude or clothed, and the amount of time you have to draw them. There's also class mode; you pick a class, let's say of 30 minutes which is the shortest, and it gives you pictures to draw in an already set amount of time. If it's of 30 minutes, I think you have like 10 pictures of 30 seconds each (this works like a warm up), then you have some of a minute, then two minutes, then five minutes and finally ten minutes. It's so you go from very simplified drawings to more complex ones. It realllllyyyy helps with anatomy and gesture, like a lot. You can also, instead of drawing bodies, draw hands, feet, animals and expressions. I sound like a sponsored youtuber lmao but it's good, check it out
I love these tutorial videos!! When your schedule is'nt loaded, Could you do one on digital hair/skin Or different textures ( fur, for ex? scales? etc. ) Sometime, I'll try my hand at digital ... just not now. Since it is thanksgiving break tho, perhaps? I've definitely broken away from my comfort zone some, so I should continue. * unrelated side note : your . voice. is. SO . relaxing. >:0
Ooo I was doing stars all wrong, just making them white bulbs. So I need to make a more saturated color of the sky around em to have the stars appear glowy. Thanks!
I honestly doubt you will see this comment but if you are reading this that great! Anyways, something that I am struggling on while doing digital and traditional art is my ability to draw fur. I have watched a lot of other tutorial videos about how to draw fur, but i still cant seem to get it right. You did a great job explaining this tutorial, so i feel like you would do a great job with explaining how to draw a fur effect (preferably without any custom or extra downloaded brushes because I do not have the ability to do so ;3) If you have read this comment and can do this tutorial then I will appreciate it very much!
Your videos are amazing!! Thank you for making them! I have one question on this one, when you are using the glowing effect and an object was by one if the fish how will the light reflect off of the object? If the object is a different color than the fishes neon glow how will the light cast on it? My question might be very confusing and sorry if it is! Please skip if you don't understand.
JelArts oh god I wasn't expecting a reply aaa :D Thanks for helping me out so much as an artist♥ I love to watch your videos and your art is beautiful dnnskdwmbye♥
what about like kinda tips on i guess.. proper shading, like how to tell what kind of different colors that would make your picture look better, because it seems kinda difficult to use different colors with shading and how to know whats right or wrong. if that makes sense XD but this video helped a lot!! thank you!!
I just got a tablet (xp pen) and i got used to these settings but I thought that this glowing tutorials are hard but it was actually very easy you just need to understand the physics!
I really appreciate the tutorial and I love what you are doing, it was incredibly useful! I love how it's such a subtle tutorial without any incredibly shiny video effects everywhere and some random music. Just the screen and a good explaination, love it. Could I just ask if there's any way to apply those brush setting in a different app like IbisPaint X? Cause it's the only I can use and I want to get the brush effect you have but the settings are quite different and I'm a bit confused..
Hello I've just subscribed and I loved the video and I would like you to explain more how to glow things with different colours Greetings from Mexico!!!!

Really good topic for a tuto vid!, great explanation, but I would love it if you make a 'how to make things glow' video with tradition art supplies!
+Jet Lamengioi Ohh that's a good idea! I don't even know if I know how to do that or how to explain, but that could be a good video!

You made me learn that art is very versatile In it’s styles and that I don’t have to follow a specific way to paint.
Thank you so much.

Can you do a tutorial on how to do studies? I’m trying to improve my work but don’t really know how.
