@ Amy Yang Sorry for the delayed reply. I definitely was uncomfortable in my body pre-op. I wore a binder every day for over 8 years. I honestly felt like my body betrayed my inner self, if that makes sense. So I would say that I was pretty disphoric. I love not wearing a binder and finally looking like the person that I always wanted to see in the mirror. Yay for happiness!!!

It’s so validating to see another genderqueer butch who’s older than me and still secure in their identity ❤️

I love the way you move and the way you talk, you really seem like a good nice person BUT that aside, you don't seem like you would ever regret top surgery but do you know someone who does? I'm nineteen now and I think I would be more comfortable with a flat chest but I'm afraid that I might change my mind in a few years. I have tried wearing a binder but that doesn't get me as flat as I'd want to and it makes breathing hard so I'm not wearing it that often and just accept these chest bags. would you recommend waiting as long as you did just to be sure? or should i just go for it?

+Evolutionsschaden I haven't ever met anyone who regretted top surgery, but I'm sure they are out there. For me personally, I only waited as long as I did, because I didn't have the money. I had a reduction when I was 20 but my insurance wouldn't cover a very significant reduction, so I was still way bigger chested than I wanted to be. I wore a binder every day for 8 years before I had top surgery, but if I could have had surgery earlier, I definitely would have. With that said, it's not a decision to rush into. It's pretty irreversible, the scars are big, you lose erotic nipple sensation and, at least in my experience, people will ask you a lot of questions about it - even if they don't know you that well. If you are unsure then there's no harm in waiting.
If you do decide to get surgery, do your homework on surgeons and find a good one. Most of them require a letter from a therapist stating that you are ready for surgery, so it might be a good idea to find a therapist now and start a dialogue with them about surgery. They can help you make an informed decision and then you'll already have someone to write your letter should you decide to get surgery. Good luck!

How did you decide to get top surgery? Did you experience dysphoria, or did you just want a flat chest?

You're really cute :) you give me hope that I can be as cute as you someday. There's not many people to look up to in the genderqueer community...at least, not that I can find. :/
