In 1970 my dad worked in London. In the flat below him lived Jeff Green, Gary's brother. I was 13 at the time and he let me play his white strat a little (I couldn't really play then but I bough myself a bass and have been playing ever since) and he played me King Crimson's first album. He also told me about his brother's band, GG--- and I've been listening to them ever since. Thanks Jeff--- you made a deep impression on me!

Wow.. thanks for connecting with Gary. Wonderful insightful interview. My introduction to Gentle Giant was Freehand. Gary always had a unique quality to his playing. Top 5 in my book.

Gary - Great "Interview." Stay healthy, keep playing and thanks for your incredible level of musicianship with Gentle Giant. Listening to that music at an early age made me realize the limitless potential of what could be accomplished with rock music and broadened my horizons as a musician. I'm forever grateful.

I recently subbed to Vaylor’s channel so this was extra special to find in my feed. I have been a Gentle Giant/Gary Green fan since the mid 70’s. Gary is looking great and seems enthusiastic and as down to earth as ever. Cheers all.

Glad to be back at it! I got sort of burnt out after 100+ shows but I've got a second wind now. Cool co-host too!

So great that Gentle Giant is a brand again and its members reach out and connect to all fans. And this interview adds some snippets of Gary's memory I never heard before.

A few years back I was planning to head back to my old home, very close to Gary. So I started to learn more GG stuff but alas, it was not to be... I really wanted at least play once with Gary, thought about that meeting a great deal back then... No matter, Thank you Gary for the work

NEARfest wasn't the start. It was Chris Lamka's Progscape shows at Towson U. that started it all.

I think ProgDay would need to be mentioned as well if we're going to go back that far.

I'm sorry to say that this whole interview would have been better without the presence of Vaylor. Otherwise, Sean is a good interviewer and Gary is as sympathic as he is a good musician. Interviews on Giant stuff are too scarce. Thanks a lot for making it happen !

Hey, where is Kansas? The pinnacle of American prog, especially in the 70s when Kerry Livgren was composing, orchestrating, writing lyrics, and playing lead guitar and keyboards.

What is with the bastardisation of Changes by Yes in the intro? Someone changes the time sig to 4/4? Get me the fuck out of here.

Honestly nobody was thinking about that Yes tune when this piece was written. It's part of a 6 minute tune that has several parts that are quite different. Yeah, it's similar in hindsight, but whatever. No malice was intended.
