    The Baker's Dozen only got mortally wounded in their encounter with the flowers, except Gary, and then Jack used the phoenix to heal them, probably since wounded people are a bigger drag than dead people.
    It can be seen in the ending as well. When Jack flicks the Ethical Bug off his shoulder he loses a wing and a leg. When the Ethical Bug flies in on the phoenix at the end he only has three legs and needs assistance for flying. When he shows up again for bears he has both wings and four legs again. The only thing that happened between the last scene and that one is that he came into contact with the phoenix.

    As someone who has experienced more than my share of panic attacks, the one in this movie is terrifyingly accurate. It’s cool to see something like that portrayed so well.

    • @Broomer52
      @Broomer52 Год назад

      I have a different sort of reaction to stress. Panic, sadness, fear goes through a filter and comes out the other side as anger. I’ve never had a panic attack like Puss or others describe but I have had moments of stress, where I run the scenarios over and over in my head,start getting mad and frustrated, I start spiraling, I get more irritable, my heart starts pumping, it gets harder to see. I think it they’re panic attacks run through a filter of rage. Let me tell you it is possible to actually go blind with anger. Everything goes out of focus, and it’s hard to make things out.

    • @Ben_Kimber
      @Ben_Kimber Год назад

      @@Broomer52 Usually when I panic, it's due to high stress on a time limit. Once I start to panic and realize it's happening, I get stressed about being stressed because I know that as long as I'm panicking like that, I can't get anything done, and I probably don't have time for it. So as time goes on, I get more stressed about being stressed, and the panic attack gets worse. Of course, there are also times when it's not time-related. All I know is that I'm usually hyper-aware of everything I'm feeling, and my mind is racing so fast that I can't latch onto any single thought, and the thoughts I can make out as they zip by are foggy.
      My usual symptoms are hyperventilating, my body going rigid, by hands start clenching and unclenching seemingly of their own accord, heart pounding, my face twitches in places, my gut becomes so tense it makes it hard to breathe, my hands, face, and teeth start tingling after a few minutes, and I get dizzy. Sometimes my vision also goes slightly out of focus. I sometimes also get an urge to inflict pain on myself by slapping myself in the face or banging my head on a table to try to snap myself back into focus, though whatever willpower I have in that moment is directed toward resisting that urge, and I'm usually successful.
      My panic attacks don't usually turn into rage, but I have had at least one panic attack in the past that was caused by anger. A near-violent rage towards a group of the most irritating kids I have ever known when I was in high school, and the mental effort to restrain myself because I saw violent action of any kind as a very bad thing, caused enough mental strain to trigger one. They were distracting in a time of high stress, and every aspect of their behaviour seemed tailor-made to irritate me, and I bottled up that anger for a full school year. When I was possibly the closest I ever got to lashing out, the stress I was already feeling and the stress of the internal conflict to restrain myself from lashing out and hurting them got to be too much for me. All of that negative emotion I was feeling was turned inward, my stress rose out of control, and I started to have a panic attack mixed with a complete emotional breakdown. On top of all of the other symptoms I previously described was something between a laugh and a sob, as my emotions whirled around and fluctuated so much that I would briefly feel an emotion that made no sense for the moment. All I could see were mental simulations of beating the crap out of all of them in many different ways, even after the teacher had escorted everyone out of the room. That particular panic attack took over half an hour to simmer down, and left behind a deep hatred for each of them. Another time they were being particularly irritating while the teacher was out of the room, I focused all of that hatred into my eyes and my body language as I glared from across the room, and when they saw me, they went quiet faster than words could ever convince them to.

      I've only had one small panic attack in my life and this was very much what it felt like. 30:03 In the Puss in Boots the Last Wish official concept art, there were two angles they sketched up with the church scene. One angle has the one shown in the film, where Puss watches the church from afar. In the other concept angle that didn't make it in, Kitty was looking at the church from afar as well, not dressed up for the wedding, but in her regular attire with the mask. She was telling the truth. She didn't show up as well. She did the same thing as Puss.

    So a little detail I picked up on... In later scenes when there's a close-up of Puss's face/head (like just before and during the panic attack scene), if you look at the area where he was cut, there's a slight discolouration of Puss's fur to show the scar.
    It stood out so much to me because when I was younger, I had a cat with white belly fur. He ended up cutting that area trying to jump over a barb-wire fence (small cuts, nothing major), and after it healed, the spots in the fur where he caught himself grew back brown.
    It's a nice detail that they kept in, when they could've not bothered as it's so blink-and-you'll-miss-it.

    37:31 Death doesn’t appear on the map because he isn’t a mortal, he’s a force of nature. This movie was revolutionary in my opinion, specifically regarding its villains.
    Goldi and the three bears are sympathetic villains who are likable and fun to watch. Goldi’s wish for a real family makes her very flushed out, as her wish implies that despite the fact the bears consistently show how much they love her, she feels like she has no place among them. Which is why her subtle change in outfit is such a nice detail (in the beginning, she sticks out amongst them with her blue dress, but by the end it’s brown and thus means she feels accepted as a member of the bear crime family).
    Jack Horner is the evil villain, he’s not redeemable and is aware of his wrong doings. He even said so to Jimney Cricket, “what took you so long” referring to the fact he was fully aware of his monstrous deeds. It’s what makes his end so satisfying, his greed consumed him as he got his wish for all the magic in the world. He got his wish, but the star (which held a large quantity of magic) became too much for his mortal body and resulted in his own death. John Mulaney did excellent with his character, truly a villain I love to hate and hate to love.
    Then there’s Death (Wolf) who is a force of nature. His hatred of Puss is warranted, as Puss has wasted EIGHT lives being reckless and arrogant. Imagine your Death in this situation, you collect souls for a living and have met millions of people who could’ve been more deserving of an extra chance. But, due to biology, Puss has escaped Death and “laughs in the face of Death”. He insults Death due to his own biology, something he was lucky to be born with. And Puss is famous, imagine everybody loves the man who insults your own existence. Gotta be rough being Death. He spares Puss because he sees that Puss has learned the error of his ways, and will now live a fulfilling life.
    Above all, I feel like Puss is his own antagonist in this movie. Puss has been so careless with his life, chalking up his existence to the fame he received from the people. But yet, when at his lowest, none of those people were there for him. He has an epiphany in that cave and thus grows from it. His encounters with Death, meeting Perrito, owning up to his mistakes with Kitty, all of it culminated from the fact that he has been in denial about just who he is and who he wants to be. And by the end, he becomes the cat he wants to be.
    In storytelling, there are many protagonists/antagonists storylines. This movie showcases all of them: man vs nature (Puss/Death), man vs man (Puss/Jack and Puss/Goldi and the bears), and man vs self (Puss/Puss). Coupled with the spectacular voice talents, phenomenal animation, and deep messages makes it a cult classic that can be watched decades down the road.
