The John Bonham masterpiece! Been asked about this so much finally made a little video about it!
After “We Will Rock You", this is the groove I get asked about the most in drum lessons!
Have fun :)

Great lesson, very clear and doesn't drag on. I always thought this one was beyond me but you broke it up really well. Can't wait to try this one out, thanks so much!
Cool, thanks so much for watching! I do try not to drag on 😂
Finally!!!!! Mike I’ve been trying….and you make it soooooo easy. BRAVO!!! You’re an awesome teacher. Thanks sooooo much!!!
Thanks Mike - you're taking these tutorials to a new level! Clear, consise and full of enthusiam.
Cheers David, glad it was useful and thanks for watching :)
Great groove
Great lesson Mike. I've always loved this beat and now I feel I can conquer it with your excellent break down. Thanks!🥁👍🇨🇦🇬🇧
Cheers Paul!
Best explanation I have seen 👍
Awesome! Love it.
Thank you for watching!
I’m actually learning this song thanks for the video👌
Cool! Glad if it was useful.
I've got a music sheet for this song which was very difficult to do at the start but found this video which is slightly different so i've done this one and changed it to match the sheet, this video really helped, thanks :)
Cool man, really glad if it was helpful and thanks for watching :)
Right on!
Mike, thanks for this! You know what I can't find, and maybe you could easily do, is a slow-practice play along for Fool in the Rain. I think you did one for Purdie shuffle, and it's really nice to help me guide my practices. Maybe 70-80 bpm? I can try to do it to the metronome, but keeping all those notes and ghost notes and open hi hat on the right shuffle beat is really tricky for me.
Nice one..!
Thanks man!
I've almost got this down after 2 months thanks to your video! It looks like my Drumeo sheet music is missing that epic Bonham fill at bar 122 after the sixteenth note triplets. Can you help lay this out? Thanks mate!
It's cool
Thanks Edwin!
Can we get the second part? 😃
Decaf!
😂Thanks so much for watching and point taken man!
But decaf? Never!! Ha ha Cheers Robert 👊🏻
To anyone out there on this channel I would be very appreciative if you can sketch out the riff on bar 122! It’s also hard to tell what type of drum Bonham’s striking it doesn’t sound like Toms.
Note: Bar 122 is the second measure after he finishes the long snare drum section with 4 beats of 16th note triplets. Very exciting section!
Thanks to all in advance!! 😃
Interesting fact: nowhere and I mean nowhere on RUclips has anyone covered anything more than the classic intro riff. The staggered triplet on ride nowhere. The entirely of the rest of the song with numerous tasty riffs also nowhere. Mike, ya gotta do it for us! Be the first to cover all the other parts! 😉
Which is more difficult?
fool in the rain or rosanna?
Both great challenging grooves in their own way man, hard to pick!
Absolutely brilliant, however dude is just copying what John Bonham wrote. I am not in any way taking away what this drummer because I am a drummer I am not taking away anything that this drummer is doing but I cannot do this beat John Bonham is a freaking beast.
you play GREAT....but can't understand a fuck'n word you are say'n
Cannot for the life of me play that 2nd kick. Necer been able go play snything with a non-straivht right hand, that has pretty much been my only limitation excluding raw speed lol
