  • The Royal Mint is no doubt one of if not the most popular Bullion Dealers in the United Kingdom. It is also globally renowned around the world making it very easy to liquidate your Precious Metals & Bullion Stack.
    However, having said that! The Royal Mint have a serious issue with their Milk spotting and Cloudiness on some of their Silver Bullion - more specifically 1 ounce Silver Britannia's. For this reason, I have decided to stop buying Silver Bullion from The Royal Mint.

    It is such a shame, because Britannias are gorgeous ! But Milk Spotting is unexcusable and I am boycotting them until they change like Canadian Mint did

    Me too. Milk spots on my Chuck Britannias within a month of getting them made up my mind. I was planning to give the historic set of three silver Britannias issued in the same year as Christmas presents. After spots showed up on them I dropped them all in a tube and bought American Silver Eagles for presents.

    Very true FI I haven't been buying any silver from the Royal Mint since I received that letter from them regarding " Milk Spotting", they're putting some hefty percentages as well as the 20% VAT on their silver products that are not fair for inferior silver bullion coins!

    Last year I had to send a double sovereign back to them twice! Due to awful quality control. Ended up settling on a refund.

    I have stop myself getting anymore from the RM but it's more for those commerative Proof coins like the Tudor Beast series. There were stretches and blemish even after replacing. Just my luck 6 out of 6 purchases...omg! Once or twice are call lapse but 6 is negligence or simply indifference.

  • @SyTheSoundman
    @SyTheSoundman 8 месяцев назад +3

    I have noticed that any re-capsuled coins from the RM are getting milk spots. Yesterday I took them all out and everything is back in tubes. Not a single blemish on my Maples.

    It's a shame because all they have to do is to wash the coins with filtered water thoroughly before the annealing process.

    I totally agree with you and have complained to the RM a number of occasion. I started also buying from other dealers. The only thing good thing about the RM is they send out Free returns labels to exchanged damaged coins.
    I now only buy from the royal mint if l can’t find the coin at a dealers. I think everyone should stop buying from them where possible and then only then they might resolve this ongoing issue. Maples are superior quality and l think regardless of what country the metals come from they should all be CFT free. We are basically pushed into a corner to buy coins that are of poor quality. And yes they will fetch much lower price when you come to try to sell them. 100% l have seen these damaged coins at dealers for much cheaper price.

    Milk spots can be avoided or reduced, with silica gel and tarnish strips. i suffer very little from it in my silver thats up to 10 years old. For pure bullion milk spotting is irrelevant although it is an isssue for more desirable pieces though . You are free to buy what you wish but RM coins are the only coins that are CGT exempt so from a purely finanacial /investment perspective they are the only choice. CGT allowances are dropping yearly , and many economists believe cgt should be raised to the same level as income tax.

    Buy proof coins if your a coin collector rather than a stacker. Why are you collecting bullion coins struck to the lowest standard the royal mint produces? They are not intended for collectors they are stacker coins.
    That said, proof coins will also milk spot if you dont store them in the correct environment. Perhaps you need to re think where you are storing these coins, a room with good air flow is best.
    Your only other option is gold, please guys do remember the physics of nature, silver is one of the most reactive metals on the planet. And its value has been artificially suppressed for decades, meaning that now is a really good time to stack up!

    • @FutureInvestmentsBullion
      @FutureInvestmentsBullion  8 месяцев назад +1

      Very true. I stack bullion for weight. Not for collecting. I’ll be moving and staying on Gold only soon.

    Like you, I'm done with Royal Mint. Countless Queen's Beast's and the last 2 gothic crowns ruined.
    One developed milk spots everywhere and the other began showing signs of a chemical reaction in the slab of a PF70.
    6 months on from the coronation of Charles and I was still waiting for a Silver 2oz £5.
    Tbh, that was the last straw. I sent 2 coins from the same series back to them and told them to forget it.
    Never again will I buy another coin from them.
    I'm sticking to Germania Mint now.
    I want quality and the Royal Mint have become incredibly lazy, with pugnacious staff who act like they're royalty themselves.
