Where to live in Abuja? Lugbe could be of the options to consider.
Lugbe is one of the popular suburbs in the Federal capital territory of Abuja. Located along Abuja Airport Road. This satellite town is one of the fastest-growing urbanized centers in Abuja and it's heavily populated with over 4 million people.
Although there are different sides in Lugbe including popular slums areas, Lugbe is essentially divided into five districts: Lugbe South, Lugbe North, Lugbe Central, Lugbe West, and Lugbe East.
Lugbe is one of the preferred living locations for most middle- and low-income earners in Abuja.
The preference of this location by most people is based on the affordable lifestyle against living in the city center, which is very expensive.
Also, it takes around 20 minutes to drive by car from Lugbe to the city center and takes around the same time to get to Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport Abuja.
There are two major landmarks that have improved the value of this location recently. The first is the recent opening of Novare Mall along with this location which provided a greater option to many working-class people who wants to shop, dine, and relax.
The second is the opening of the Glory dome by Dunamis International Church, which is the second largest church auditorium in the world.
Since many people worship in this church, the relocation of the church, also brought about the relocation of many people to this area, among all development it brought
There are also other popular landmarks that have been here for a while now, such as the Voice of Nigeria Transmission Station (VNT), FHA Estate, and the National Space Development and Research Agency (NSDRA).
Due to the rapid increase in migration to this location, lots of estates have been popping up everywhere. The popular ones include River park, trade Moore estate, and FHA New site. There are also various lands available that you can buy and built-in Lugbe and within the surrounding axis.

i used to live in lugbe 10 year ago, i cant remember the name of the place but i do remember that it was a estate that had street lights that were charged by solar panels so every night we had white light coming from outside

I enjoyed the beautiful view of lugbe, i lived there for not less than 8 years then moved to gwagwalada for not less than 3 years before relocating overseas. I miss the fun only abuja can provide and the slumming areas. Thanks for taking me down memory lane
came to lugbe 20 years ago, most FHA houses were unoccupied, lots of bushes. Now we got estates everywhere and population has explode,4 million damn. Next time come via the police jnx at solid rock sch, its a beautiful new road. Good job and content

Thank you for watching Truezlady. For the planting of trees, except that is done by various estate developers for their project, but to plan trees generally in town, that will not happen. But new districts in Abuja that are planned and developed now, do have that as part of the plans. just like you have a bit of it in Katampe ext. and Guzape. But if you are looking to move to Abuja and greenery is your number consideration, then Maitama, got you covered.

Great documentary. I used to live there myself before I left for Barbados. Rent there used to be N150k for a 2-bedroom 10 years ago. It is now close to a million depending on where you live in Lugbe. I also hear the traffic is now on the crazy side at peak periods. I used to be the chairman of the estate on the right at 07.55 mark.

Nostalgic! I lived with my cousin in Lugbe FHA about 15 years ago. I lived behind Total filling Station. I see lots of new buildings in places that used to be bushes.

@@DavidNkwa besides the city center other parts lack order and much infrastructure. Piped water, street lights, clean streets compared to other cities abroad these things can be improved with an elected mayor rather than having a political appointee as FCT minister.

Lol. Abuja has all of that. Plus All federal institute are located in Abuja and govt is the highest employer of labor.
Plus foreign Embassies, INGO, donor agency are all located in Abuja.
So people relocate because they hope to find better job here.
More over Abuja is clean, safe and less stressful. So tell me why people will not come.

It's a working class district. Working class districts anywhere in the world are never known for their posh looks. It's more always about affordability. Lugbe has its nice areas too.
My friend do you know what a 4 million people populated city means? Los Angeles City is a little over 4 million. Yet bigger than most states in Nigeria. Nigerians and exaggeration. Abuja itself is probably less than 1.1 people, how can Lugbe alone be 4 million.
First, that population is based on a demography survey by a private development company. I don't just say things, I do my research. 2. When you say Los Angeles is Bigger than most states in Nigeria, do you mean in terms of landmarks or the population? Not sure you have been to Lugbe or most cities in Nigeria, then you will no it is overpopulated and Los Angeles doesn't come close in numbers. A typical household has about 8 people. Is that what you have in Los Angeles? Abuja is less than 1.1 million people? that's laudable, this means you don't know Abuja. Abuja metropolis (AMAC) alone is much bigger than that. If you add the slums in AMAC, you get 3 times the number, then you add the Fulani community not accounted for lining in those slums. Before you now come to FCT (Federal Capital Territory) which is what you are referring to as Abuja. FCT. Then you will know the number in Abuja is much higher. For your information, there is no data on Nigeria's city or population on the internet that is correct.(undercounted). First, there has never been an accurate census in Nigeria. secondly, those that do the census don't cover everywhere. So take my word for it, I live here, so I have more insight than you do. Good day.

Abuja lacks the intensity of a major metropolitan city when compared to even Port Harcourt, talk less of LA. There is no way Abuja population is more than 1.1 million. Los Angeles is over 60 miles sq., or 100km Sq. With heavy and intense human activity and is 4.5 million inhabitants.
@Levi it's great to know you have a feel of this both cities. However I can tell you for free that except you are one of the people who explores the Abuja city intentionally, you wouldn't be able to comprehend it's population by just moving from your house to work.
I have lived in Abuja for years not until I started documenting the city that I realised many unknown place people. live.
Even in this same Amac someone argued there are no alums untill I decided to document 10 top major slums inside the city.
So I know what am saying.
