I am Harshdeep, an independent filmmaker and a published author. This is my breakdown of the music video of the popular song High Hopes by Pink Floyd. There is a much deeper meaning to it than what most people realize. So much thought was put into making this one that it feels like a disrespect to the art if you do not pay attention to the video.

I always thought that the part where the apples are rolling into the street comes from the saying don't upset the apple cart. meaning don't spoil things that were good.

This is not only song. This is pure philosophy.
The huge black cape represents aging and the struggles of moving forward in life as you get older. The bigger the cape,the stronger the wind,the harder the walk into adulthood and eventually old age and finally, death. Every man carrying his division bell on his back is self - explanatory.
it is worth mentioning that the white flowing balls are a clear reference to British 60's television series The Prisoner, where the balls act as a kind of mysterious watchers, punishing anyone that will not conform to that strange society. A highly recommendable watch
The part when the marching band starts playing... goosebumps.
Encumbered forever by desire and ambition
There's a hunger still unsatisfied
Our weary eyes still stray to the horizon
Though down this road we've been so many times
These are one of my favourite lines in this song. David does some magic with his fingers after this, it always hits me hard, always gives me a cathartic experience ❤️

Pink Floyd is the most creative and innovative band of all time
You listen to their sounds man, literally all of their songs have very different composure and yet still they know how to make it all so perfect that it pleases the ears of the listener
You should definitely check these long songs of pink Floyd if u havent yet like "echoes" "shine on you crazy diamond" "dogs" "pigs" "sheep" "atom heart mother" etc
Love to see there are some indians who really embrace and love to listen to bands like pink Floyd
I would also like to recommend best long songs i ever hears to u
"Octavarium by dream theater" and "supper's ready by Genesis" please do give these songs too a try if u want to and i would really love it if u decoded the hidden meanings and philosophical aspects of all the other songs of pink Floyd too + the other 2 songs i mentioned rn:)
