  • This is an unbiased review of the Sea Eagle 285 after several months of hardcore hoggin.
    Safety/Stability - 10/10
    Speed/Tracking - 6/10
    Fishability - 10/10
    Comfort - 8/10
    Paddling specifically - 6/10
    Motoring specifically - 9/10
    CORRECTION…in the video I said that this boat doesn’t come with any handles. This was incorrect, there are handles on the front and back. What I meant to say is that there are no handles in the middle of the raft.

    Great vid!! i almost bought this boat....but after my girl expressed dissatisfaction with a 1 seater.......well.........you know. i opted for the sts 10. There's not much to dislike about any Sea Eagle craft honestly. If its super windy....you better be a good captain. the wind pushes these flat bottoms crazy at low speeds. and if you're trying to dock...or sand land this craft, it is extremely difficult in windy conditions. Stability wise...you can damn near dance on these boats. they are extremely stable in the water. no tipping etc. Portability was my biggest selling point. boat, motor, battery, and gear all fit in a Chevy Bolt. No kidding. with room to spare. If you're tired of dock fishing...and have small disposable income...you cant beat it. Thanks for the vid. Happy fishing!

    I have the Watersnake 34 lb. trolling motor that was part of a package from Sea Eagle. It is great, but like you, I could not track well even in very light winds. I added a Bull Nose Rudder, which made all the difference, and it now tracks very well. They sell for around $35, are rated for all trolling motors up to 55 lb. Another thing I did was to replace the steel seat swivel with a Quick Release two-piece swivel mount from Bass Pro Shops. I got it to be able to disconnect the seat from the pedestal for storage, but it is about 2" thick, and it raises the bottom of the seat, so it clears the Minn Kota Battery Box when swiveling. That sells for just over $20. I don't think it will help clear the rod handles though. Both of those are no-brainer installs.

    Great vid. Thanks for taking the time to share. Maybe try different height rod holders, to stagger them and be able to tweak the angles. I did a hi-lo setup with Omega holders on my yak.

    Have you had any snags or punctures that needed repair? If so, how’s it holding up?

    Just a tip, don't keep your keys in that green bag. Get a lanyard and wrap them around your neck! If and when shit hits the fan at least you got your keys😂 I'm talking from experience lol

    Have you ever strapped this to top of SUV versus always deflating ? Thanks great info in video

      I leave the raft inflated year round and always car top it. When i get home, i put the boat in my garage and deflate it slightly to take pressure off the seems. Then before i go out i top it off with air. If you are going to car top it, use two primary straps on the side. And one strap on the front to hold it down tight. If you dont strap the front the wind is going to be pushing that thing up really hard. When you car top it flip the boat around with the transom facing front. Hook the front strap to the transom.
      You can definitely feel it up there on top of the car. Its not too bad though. If the wind is at my back you dont feel any drag at all. Crazy thing is i dont even lose gas milage when I car top it. Probably bcs i adjust the way i drive. But i consistently do 75+ mph with this thing on top of my car. If the wind is blowing in my cars face i might have to do 60-65.

    Nice review. Would you buy it again or get the stealth stalker 10?

      I would probably get the bigger Stealth Stalker just to have a little bit more foot space and room.

    How low do you set your trolling motor in relation to the bottom of the boat?

  • @caseG80
    @caseG80 Год назад

    What about a spacer an inch or three under the rod to miss seat and it actually might make grabbing the rods easier

    • @Daybreak_Enterprises_TV_
      @Daybreak_Enterprises_TV_  Год назад

      Yes no a bad idea. If i keep the rods forward instead of all the way into the rod holder i dont hit the rods.

    How do you keep from getting a hefty fine by running that trolling motor without a boat license?????

  • @bettercallspotti

    U could just put the Rodholders straight up, so the rod handles are out of the way
