After spending 2500 hours on space engineers and hundreds of hours on cities skylines I am very interested in what becomes of this game from Paradox. Only question is will it stay interesting if it's not multi-player
That's how mining works in Elite: Dangerous. Actually, E:D has three different ways you can mine. This seems kind of superficial for a game centered entirely on mining. Why did they have to add combat? Why do devs continue to think all gamers want to kill people for fun?
"The concept of mining in space has been around for decades, think of no man's sky" How to tell someone you've never even heard of escape velocity without doing so ;)

The fact that anyone is surprized that a polished and high visual fidelity game didn't require more than two gamedevs demonstrates something of a problem caused by people buying into the AAA gaming propaganda. The common association between low quality products and the indie game community is a mindset that only benefits corporations seeking to secure themselves dominance within the industry by writing a false narrative that great games require millions of dollars and a workforce of hundreds - this is a malicious lie and consumers need to start recognising that.
I feel like people into this should have more intense experience with Eve Online. You can start a mining corp surrounded by player-driven danger and economics.
I guess it depends on what specifically appeals to people, as with all games. Sure, there will be some similarities with EVE, people will recognize some overlap but in the end Starminer will be a game on its own. I agree that if people seek a more MMO-like experience then EVE would be more suited for them. I dont know why ppl in space game developers its both High Tech and low tech at the same time, like Space Enginners with hand drills and not drones to do the mining. Space tech if you can build a Battleship in Space, no one is going to hand welding it together by ppl in a suit.
Maybe there's the option in-game to research new propulsion tech, who knows. But it depends....if designing, building and operating/managing drones is 10x more expensive in such a scenario then they'll send out people in suits if that's the cheaper option. I was looking forward to this game, but this show it use rocket engines???? The tech level sugguest more advance stuff like Ion or Plasma, the way how it moves looks like fragile in motions. It sort of feels like steam is coming out in the back of the ship. Lets hope the combat is more high tech with Plasma Beam and such.
Technology is never upgraded across the board, there will always be parts of a civilization, corporation or group that will lag behind so I don't feel like having various degrees of technological advancement is out of the ordinary.
the logo looks like starbound
Yes I noticed that too, probably still enough difference to not trigger anything. Im sure they had it on their radar.
I will watch this game, but any potential for hype I had vanished when Paradox was mentioned. that company is a magnet for mediocrity.
so this game is like Eve tried to make mining fun.
Roughly...yes.
