I love the shape of the HQ's I owned a 4 door, but I chased everywhere for a HQ Statesman with the 350 motor, never found one, found a couple with 308's for sale, last one about 15 years ago was $12000, good luck with it.

I got a statesman’s deville very similar to this one including the colour. It was sitting in the shed for quite a time, and when I tried to start it, I discovered the alloy timing cover had been corroded where the water pump was. Other than that it ran well- great job!

Absolutely agree with keeping the history and patina of the car, I did a similar thing with an old HQ ute I've had for 20 yeas, did everything rubber and made the old thing run again and regoed it, bit of rust to do and I think I'm going to copy your theme and leave the rust repairs raw with a clear coat, Well done mate,

Hi Chris, thanks mate really appreciate your comment/sub and watching from the start. Yeah the history is important to me and as I've said before there is only one way to get this look and it takes 52 years! The new metal going in becomes part of the history/story and I reckon looks cool. I'm a fan of the utes, keep us updated how its coming along, I'd be keen to see how it looks with raw metal.
