      Agree. I haven't run into anyone who's broken one of these yet. But I do have broken boss pedals. They aren't ironclad.

      @@hereonmars They might look like cheap crap but they are actually pretty sturdy. Ugly nevertheless.

      @@hereonmars I am using the Super Fuzz and the HM-2 clone (I actually prefere it over the original or even boutique clones) for years now and I still remember that I initially thought to myself, It'll be just a matter of time when they break. But it never happened.

      Nice! I got the following tone using the metal zone clone into their gdi with the cab sim. I thought it was funny but it ended up pretty respectable. I had the hm2 clone but swedish chainsaw didn't end being what was called for on the project 😂

    It is a buffered fuzz so it is actually might be good with other tone shaping pedals before it. It makes this fuzz even more versatile than 3 fuzz modes + boost. I tried it with BOSS SD-1 kind of circuit overdrive & it is very good in 1 & 1.5 fuzz modes

      I use a Wampler Triumph drive exactly for that. I got it on sale for $84US and it has a powerful 3 band EQ that has a big effect on anything after it. The Super Fuzz sounds thin and harsh in the high end even and the onboard EQ doesn't do enough to change it so it's almost mandatory.

    If you have a power supply with a sag function or just a 9v battery on the brink of death you can get another sound from the SF. The gated, splatty, velcro-rip in fuzzes with bias knobs comes from starving the circuit of voltage. Giving it 5v instead of 9 is the extra super secret mode.

  • @oliverlangrall2014
    @oliverlangrall2014 2 месяца назад +1

    I have two of these and they sound different from each other for some reason. both are really spitty a gated though and through a duncan jb jr they both gate anything past like the 10th fret and only only allow for very intentional digged in strings to come through. I personally like this as a flavor but I find I am always fighting with it to get what I want.

    I heard it the first time on this video and I get the buzz for this fuzz :D It has a fuzz elements, but it doesn't sound like 60's style fuzz. I was thinking about buying it because it's cheap, and I might buy it anyhow, although it sounds more like metal pedal for me what I heard here on this video.

      Yeah, I end up using it for more of a metal vibe, but you can definitely squeeze some solid fuzz tones out of it.

    SF300 is buffered, it can go anywhere in the chain that you would put any other distortion. it doesn't need to go first like old unbuffered germanium fuzzes.

      It does have a good scooped opamp tone but it highlights very unmusical harmonics in certain intervals e.g. try playing a note and its major 3rd 🤮 Cherub Rock on the SF400 sounds dissonant and gross.

    • @andrewsiemon
      @andrewsiemon  19 дней назад

      @@onlyusernameleft2 Yeah, good analysis of the pedal.
      There are definitely certain intervals that this fuzz pedal highlights in a bad way, which is part of the reason I recommended to stick to 2-note chords.
      This pedal is one of 2 fuzz pedals I've owned though so I can't say whether it's a feature on all of them or not.

      @@user-yh5ln4zw7wBig Muff sounds good with full chords. Even the Joyo Voodoo Octave is decent at chords without the octave mode. The SF400 will make e standard sound like an 8 string tuned down a whole tone if you use it right. They just have different applications.
