Omg I’m so happy I found your video my mother bought a refurbished dell tower and when she received it and turned it on the light was blinking orange and would not turn on. I went to the internet trying to find a reason and that was no help for me( I don’t know anything about computers it was all a different language to me). Luckily I found your video and it helped! It was the ram, one of them was not in all the way so I took them out and made sure they were all in tight. Thanks I have one happy mother now! I will be sending her an invoice cause I’m apparently a computer tech now thanks to you🤣
Many thanks you are life saver, I was about to throw my aio dell in the bin as Amber colour flashing and did not turn on, based on your video changed motherboard battery, now working perfectly
Oh my God thank you so much make life easy for this video this really helped me my computer was doing what you talked about in your first step on checking my optiplex Dell desktop. I checked my dells ram one by one and in the end they all worked and now my PC is up and running once again thank you
No, the battery won't 'fall out' of its socket regardless of vibration. You can however check its voltage and any reading above ~ 2.7V means it's OK. At ~ 2.69V and below it should be replaced though, a very low cost maintenance action. Brand new CMOS batteries are 3.2-3.3V (except Li-ion types which can be 4.2V but these coin cells aren't an example of this type).
Not working in my case😢😢😢 Removed all rams and installed them one by one and on different slots. Also changed CMOS battery but still same issue. Looks like motherboard is faulty
I personally ran into the same issue the other day with a Dell optiplex model. The PC wouldn't startup but would Flash Amber and beep once. I started by powering down the PC and removing the IEC cable. Removed both Ram and cleaned off the pins with a pencil eraser. 2ndly, Taking out the old CMOS battery and replacing with a brand new CR2032 battery. Before plugging back in the IEC cable, drain all the power from motherboard by holding the power button for 15 seconds. After completing those steps, I turned the PC back on and it power Cycled 2-3 times. Then everything came back online with no problem. I hope these steps help for anyone currently dealing with this issue. Keep in mind, the amber light will flash in specific patterns to give you a better idea of what's wrong with the machine. You can also power the machine on without the Ram installed and it will beep a specific amount of times to let you know that the motherboard is working. :)
Another helpful tip, Google the amount of times the Amber light flashes. For example, Dell optiplex Amber light flashes 3 times. The Dell manual will give you more insight as to if this is a power supply issue, Ram or CMOS battery issue.
Thanks, I downloaded you video in case I need to refer to it someday. Regarding the blinking lights, my black screen said hard drive, CPU, fan, keyboard etc *FAILURE* . Rebooting it had no effect, so I just unplugged the machine for about 15 minutes, then re plugged and it all booted back up normally without errors. One word of caution to people removing the cmos battery, I screwed a computer up once by removing it the wrong way with a little force and it never worked again for holding settings. I would then have to just press F1 to use the operating system normally ( but no more correct time on Windows). Linux OS has it's own time which is correct dispute having no cmos battery.
Thanks, Swapping around the ram worked for me, I ended up putting them all back in the same place & it's working now. No clue what happened, maybe contacts were dirty or wasn't fully seated *shrugs*
Thank you so much for this video! Switching those two things around worked. It potentially saved me a few hundred bucks that the repair shop would have charged for.an easy fix. Again, thanks! God Bless!
Thank you so much! This helped me fix my Dell USFF computer orange blinking light. I removed each ram chip one at a time and tested. I found one of them was bad and making the computer to not turn on.
My father recently purchased a Microsoft Authorized Refurbished Dell Optiplex 7040 SFF with the same issue straight out of the box from Best Buy. After checking the owner's manual it pointed to a memory problem from the blinking amber lights. I took out one of the 8 GB DDR4 ram sticks and it booted up nicely. I was confused as to how this computer passed the stringent quality standards of a refurbished product and was shipped out to a customer. These memory sticks are cheap anyway. Nice walkthrough man. 👍🏼
thanks so much am try to find any solution but didnt work good but after i saw youre video its worked you saved my day god bless you am so happy right now
I have the same problem in my dell laptop i3 the battery is zero and whenever i connect it to power it blinks orange light continuously...and battery won't charge and if i turn off power supply the laptop switches off....... Pls reply how to repair it....

so, i think we might have to buy a new CMOS battery or ram sticks. I tried the ram stick thing and it didn't work. And the computer is over 10 years old so maybe the battery or ram sticks haven't been changed in a long time. But anyways thanks for the helpful video, it still helped me in some ways!
I have a dell optiplex 790 sff, model 0d28yy. I upgraded the ram and processor: i3-2120 to i7-2600k, since the memories just put two more 8+4gb sticks (totaling 16 because I already had 2+2gb). my problem was that the pc turned on but there was no video, the 1 2 3 + power leds were all blue.
