what he did is basically get the instrumental and the original which has to be the same quality...Then Did a phase Cancel--> phase is measured in degrees, the speed at which waveforms beat together depends on the difference in frequency between them which is why he used a instrumental and acapella. if two waves have the same frequency one reaching its peak the other reaching its trough and are 180 degrees out of phase "reverse polarity" then it produces no sound leaving the "acapella" but this technique is almost useless if your trying to use someone else work on the internet because its damn near impossible to find a instrumental and original track with the same quality, But if you do they have to be lined up perfectly to cancel each other out.
This theory has been floating around for ages but you're the first man I've seen do it in FL on RUclips :) Does this mean to say you need to find tunes with an instrumental that is EXACTLY the same without the vocal then presumably?
Yes it does because the waveforms must line up correctly in order to get silence. The original mix will have some slightly different waveforms because of the vocals, so if you line up the original mix with the instrumental it will cancel out just the instruments. Now if you layer two tracks that are exactly the same and turn on the reverse polarity, then you will get absolute silence.
The obvious question is... if you can't get the instrumental for the song, what do you do? I mean, I wouldn't be trying to make an acapella if I could just find it. So why would their be an instrumental?
A bit of explanation goes a long way. What is the point of video is to try and help people. Would have been a lot better if you actually explained it. 👎
Jewls Tagara actually I recorded in the instrumental version and then recorded in the vocal version so that's why there's 2 different waves to play with yes it is easy if you have the exact same waves to work with as phase cancellation proves it.

+Caleb Scott then why can you still hear vocals?

+Philip B. yea wait what the fuck
it has got the sickest output i love it
No point in tutorials of this complexity with literally no narration.
I fell out of a car, instructions were unclear

+JGREZY im sorry i have no way of putting audio over top of the vids i make this is a hard one to explain.

oh fuck right on man i didnt do project option 960
What if you do not have instrumental track?
Thanks, I found this very helpful :D
this does not work for me :/
Is it possible to make instrumental of a track to use for this ?kind of annoying Tutorial tbh
Hmmm I don't know the only thing I can think of is that the waveforms are not lined up 100%?
Thanks man! :D
Does it matter which you reverse polarity for? Do they have to be identical (Like .1 second off doesn't work) besides the vocals?
so you have to have the separate vocals and instrumental stem or wave??
-lives in uk
-goes rave
i still hear the background noise
What kind of sorcery is this? 😮
Has no one seen his wallpaper yet? ahaha
i got exact copys and mine doesnt work i can send you files im trying to use anyone
Nice tutorial =) Can the same technique be used to isolate drums?
+Eastmile cool! hey did you already know the tempo was 128? seem like you were able to get it right on metronome immediately
+Charles Okosi @ 7:30
I don't understand how you did it, when I do it I obtain only a silence
goodmusic4eva You need one track with vocals and one instrumental to do it.
***** So if you can't find an instrumental, you are fucked? :3
TheHDMusicFreak Pretty much, yeah.
***** Maybe you can help again. When I turn the Reverse polarity on it just stays the same way. What did I do wrong? :3
TheHDMusicFreak You have to play both vocal mix and intrumental simultaneously and reverse polarity in one of them.
so you have to use edison?
you don't have to use editing but it makes it more precise as FLs zoom isn't the best to line it up exactly.
What is the name of that song?
By who
Really appreciate it
nicky romero - i could be the one
Only video I have ever actually pressed the dislike button on. You should have explained it, would have done a lot.
