Above and beyond his talent, which is immense, I love how Goransson has actual old school instruments (the old school synths, that 1962 pedal, a glockenspiel) instead of just using samples and a modern keyboard. That must be so much fun. What an amazing studio.
Ludwig is really organized producer. I've realized every producer has his own way for making music, and very few of them actually use instruments and writes notes
He's just a composer who knows his production. He just wanted it enough to focus all of his energy on it and become a full time producer. If you're a producer and you don't know your theory or how to play basic stuff on a glockenspiel, then you're probably not a very good producer.
Parminder Sandhal Loool exactly, everyone wants to be a bedroom producer by looping a 5 second sample that has been sampled a thousand times before and become a producer. Makes it harder for real talent to get recognized when there's so much shit out there.
I really thought it was a band that made the instrumental,BIG props to you Ludwig for making that soulful instrumental, these music producers need bigger support than the artist imo
It is not a sample. Basically it sounds very similar to a Bootsy Collins song which I believe is Id Rather Be With You. Ludwig and Donald still very much crafted, played, and made the song themselves. Strong similarities is all.
Jiraiya The Gallant clearly you didn’t watch the video clip I posted above. I’d also like to repeat that IN the video clip.... George Clinton...the PRODUCER of “I’d Rather Be With You” said on HOT 97 to Ebro Darden that he contacted Donald Glover’s people and they said they would not take a DOLLAR FROM “REDBONE” (which is 3x’s platinum) until they pay George Clinton (producer) and Bootsy (writer) because it’s George Clinton and Bootsy’s song!
I did see the clip however what I'm saying is that Redbone does not contain a sample. Redbone was written, made, and played by Ludwig and Donald. Somehow during the writing process, one of them drew a little too much inspiration from Bootsy which led to the crediting of Bootsy and George due to sounding alike.
Jiraiya The Gallant no sir, respectfully you don’t follow....George Clinton and Bootsy wouldn’t have the opportunity to collect money from that record if IT WASN’T THE SAME RECORD!!! You mean to tell me if some said you took their record...but didn’t really...you would allow the other person to get paid for your song before you???? Wtf?!?’ No one can claim my shit if I wrote it!!!
Reggie Smithers agreed. as someone who’s part of the music community and a guitarist i hate the way they make all of us seem like narcissistic, egotistical assholes.
You hear it. Even if you don't know you're hearing it it's there. With practice you can learn to hear those details more clearly by focusing on the "Back" of the sound. If they stripped all the details out of the song it would sound much less organic.
Tomsheen the best thing about these sounds is that they are just like seasoning on your food. you don't really hear them but you would notice if they were missing. they're there for the atmosphere
@@Jong-JongDomoyep, this dude made the whole sound track, including “Can You Hear The Music” that has like 32 tempo changes and is absolutely marvelous. Dude is unbelievably talented
This is so so important for the new generation of producers(me) to appreciate the process that is behind the vocals,to understand the importance of how each instrument compliments the next and how this was more of a performance itself as he reproduces the whole track and explains how each piece came about.I love this and it gives me so much inspiration to explore different sounds and learn about them.
bmcmusic... Just shut your gob mate. If you have hussel you can succeed in the industry. Why do you think you're watching a video fo just a regular guy going through the standard production process? This guy just wanted it enough. If you know what you're doing and have the drive, then you can get there. The only factor is whether you're willing to focus absolutely all of your energy on it, which is something most people don't really want to do.

gotta be raised with the 60's and 70's music to truly understand... this coming from a dude born 1990. ... but Ludwig is a different animal. he actually grew up with all of the instruments
Mr Shikadance an apple ain’t an orange but their both still fruits. I’m willing to bet your fav band (like APC’s latest effort) used digital samples for songs because it’s convenient, again you really just don’t know what you’re talking about because there is literally 15 years of recording techniques & most importantly cheaper & better technology that you are not acknowledging
Mr Shikadance once again the role of a music producer has changed in the last 20 years so you’ve got some catching up to do. Also once again he probably would not of made said music without Donald first being influenced 70s p-funk/funkadelic/psychedelic music which he stated he did not listen to much before they started working on this project, he also stated before they met he did not work on hip hop music much & speaking from experience, a song with memorable, catchy lyrics & a good instrumental will give you a much better chance of selling a record than just an instrumental alone. So this was a mutually beneficial arrangement as Donald was already establishing himself as an alt-rap artist & Ludwig was known in circles but they both elevated each other to new opportunities lol. You again are ignoring the fact that damn near no one records like the highly respected Butch Vig & many others did back then, it is a game of EFFICIENCY & the listeners will simply not be able to the difference between a sampled drum & a real one.
This guy is legit top pro. He just won an academy award for Oppenheimer! He just dipped his toe into a genre he didnt even know and helps Donald crank out one of the best albums released in the last decade
Mr Shikadance yeah but the dude said he didn’t know much about 70s funkadelic & rnb music so I would imagine Donald contributed in at least introducing him to artist & sounds to shape what eventually became the album lol
@@ahiwalter9153 almost definitely not, it’s weird how how he differentiates them imo. Jazz and blues literally go hand in hand with 60s and 70s psych/funk. I mean he’s put in thousands and thousands of hours into music.
@@gavindalton2238 You make an excellent point and perhaps Ludwig was being modest. hell yeah I dig his style. those rings are dope
he´s way too talented for that shit band
flpnrdrds dude currents was one of the best albums in 2015 how are they shit
Above and beyond his talent, which is immense, I love how Goransson has actual old school instruments (the old school synths, that 1962 pedal, a glockenspiel) instead of just using samples and a modern keyboard. That must be so much fun. What an amazing studio.
Ludwig is really organized producer. I've realized every producer has his own way for making music, and very few of them actually use instruments and writes notes
How many instruments can this guy play. Impressive
DestructiveElements
not that hard if you know notes, scales etc.
Only key/snare and "glockenspiel".. so 3 types of instruments..
Balenci Aga bro this guy clearly knows his music theory, and I'm pretty sure he could pick up any instrument in that room and play it with emotion
He's just a composer who knows his production. He just wanted it enough to focus all of his energy on it and become a full time producer. If you're a producer and you don't know your theory or how to play basic stuff on a glockenspiel, then you're probably not a very good producer.
and bass and guitar so... no not three
I swear there's gonna be an explosion of good music in the next couple of years. Everyone wants to be a producer now a days.
My brother, you are so right
makingbeqtas it's called sound Cloud and 99% of it is shit
Parminder Sandhal yeah but the one percent that is good is fucking gold.
Parminder Sandhal Loool exactly, everyone wants to be a bedroom producer by looping a 5 second sample that has been sampled a thousand times before and become a producer. Makes it harder for real talent to get recognized when there's so much shit out there.
agreed. this makes me wish í could play other instruments besides the bass and the guitar.
Now THIS is a producer
son of a bitch made it like it was breakfast
TheNskpo breakfast lunch and dinner
Isa S for beginners you ain't even know
TheNskpo hahahah
Obviously didn't make it that easy originally..
I really thought it was a band that made the instrumental,BIG props to you Ludwig for making that soulful instrumental, these music producers need bigger support than the artist imo
He made nothing, it was a sample that was not cleared and now George Clinton is coming for the money ruclips.net/video/6qh1OywbSbc/видео.html
Ludwig should work with frank ocean the chemistry would be off the charts

MY MAN'S MADE THE OPPENHEIMER SCORE
hey nice pfp

And rips it off so nonchalant, like JUST WARMIN UP THE OL' FINGERS FOR A SEC
Not even that hard to do lol easy blues lick that barely the point

Michael Mc guitarists especially, so much ego
Reggie Smithers agreed. as someone who’s part of the music community and a guitarist i hate the way they make all of us seem like narcissistic, egotistical assholes.
I love how they put stuff in that no one would hear but them
You hear it. Even if you don't know you're hearing it it's there. With practice you can learn to hear those details more clearly by focusing on the "Back" of the sound. If they stripped all the details out of the song it would sound much less organic.
Tomsheen the best thing about these sounds is that they are just like seasoning on your food. you don't really hear them but you would notice if they were missing. they're there for the atmosphere
preach
Exactly. You don't think you hear it, but once you take it out, you were hearing it the whole time.
well it's not like they have sonic hearing, if they hear it you can hear it too. You just have to listen
when having music theory knowledge actually helps lol
popcorn pop that Swedish education
Music theory always helps. No matter what kind of music you’re making, even if it’s just ambient drone.
@@georgekay372 Subtle roast, but I digress.
George Kay nah unless its modern hiphop lmaooo. You don’t need music theory for that crap
@@blurryvision942 not even a roast lmao, it's a fact. Learning more about music theory will expand your knowledge and overall skill level through time
It's crazy that Ludwig also did the soundtrack for Oppenheimer.
wtf. This man right here?
@@Jong-JongDomoyep, this dude made the whole sound track, including “Can You Hear The Music” that has like 32 tempo changes and is absolutely marvelous. Dude is unbelievably talented
@@Jong-JongDomo Yep. he started producing for Gambino, and now he's an Oscar winning film composer
I love seeing a song come together like that
Joana H. Who doesn't?
Me.
A song hardly ever comes together like this. This dude is a genius.
This is so so important for the new generation of producers(me) to appreciate the process that is behind the vocals,to understand the importance of how each instrument compliments the next and how this was more of a performance itself as he reproduces the whole track and explains how each piece came about.I love this and it gives me so much inspiration to explore different sounds and learn about them.
bmcgmusic ... Shut the fuck up lmao
bmcgmusic just because your old ass didn't get big making music when you were in your 30s 70 years ago, doesn't mean that nobody else can
Right. As you type on the very website that disrupts the old model and is making new stars out of thin air. Get off your lawn, right?
Rickey Bailey Same here
This man is a fucking genius

Go look up ryan leslie
bmcgmusic you hate black people yet here u are watching hip hop videos
Lmao racist fuck
He's just a disgusting racist. Although i wouldn't say it was entirely hip hop, more psychedelic funk/soul.
and now he has arguably created one of the best scores oat for oppenheimer, insanely talented guy
Genius: "So could you show us the process of how you made the song?"
Ludwig: "Yeah sure I'll just remake the whole thing while you're here"
Genius: "What? Rema- I'm not sure if we have the ti- You really don't have t-"
Ludwig: *did I fucking stutter :)*

Andy DeGrasse it's the same thing as a piano lol
if you know theory you can apply it to any instrument just need the fret board or fingering chart and to have ur sheets and ur golden
My dude from Canada hope to see you in the next olympics
It's not that difficult of an instrument lol...all instruments use the same notes. If he can play the piano he can play the glockenspiel.
It's amazing how every part of this song was made!
He added instruments you’d never even think of putting in this kind of groovy beat, guess that’s why he’s one of the best right now
he's a genius - we're all here witnessing the beginnings of a musical legend. It's gonna be a heluva ride.
This dude could travel back to the 70's music scene and do alright, lol.
alright is an under statement

Jose Mitchell-Reyes go get it
study music
Jose Mitchell-Reyes there’s not that much music knowledge put into that song tbh
Sound knowledge, however...
gotta be raised with the 60's and 70's music to truly understand... this coming from a dude born 1990. ... but Ludwig is a different animal. he actually grew up with all of the instruments
Dorian Binggeli true
This guy deserves wayyy more attention.. he's been with Bino since camp
since culdesac
wataloopus yea since culdesac lol..
The fact that these 2 have been working together since their Community days says so much about how close everyone was on that show
I was searching for this comment haha.
all these guys making trap beats r just beat makers (including me), but this guy is a PRODUCER
Mr Shikadance Sorry man but you just don’t know what you’re talking about
Mr Shikadance an apple ain’t an orange but their both still fruits.
I have more subscribers than You and I don’t even do shit lmao you’re just trash
he's a composer
The bass slap in the song is so perfect.
the bass "pop". 0 slap
true, you know what he means though lol
I will never look at this song the same. Literally a work of art

Same here! I have a better appreciation now for all that went into producing it!!🤗👌🏾
This guy is legit top pro. He just won an academy award for Oppenheimer! He just dipped his toe into a genre he didnt even know and helps Donald crank out one of the best albums released in the last decade
A nice reminder that most famous musicians buy their way in. I raise my glass to the true creative geniusis behind the scenes.
Plus anyone who has talent like Ludwig almost definitely has come into contact with funk and stuff at some point just by nature of experimentation. I mean he’s put in thousands and thousands of hours into music.
@@gavindalton2238 You make an excellent point and perhaps Ludwig was being modest. But I must add that as a Scandinavian who has studied pop/jazz piano and composition plus has a background in metal (similar to Göransson, who says he was a Metallica fan) I have never heard a single Funkadelic song. So it's possible that he'd never heard them, especially since he seems to come from a family more focused on jazz and orchestral music.
Couldn't be more wrong in this case, though. Donald Glover is seriously talented in so many domains, including music.
Exponentially better than the videos where flops "explain" their "lyrics"
Honestly it depends because artists who are there for the music have insightful and meaningful info to add to their songs
But people like backpack kid gotta go
jazz is so underrated, music like this comes from it and people still treat it like a joke
So many elements relate to hip hop
blues*
Why do you say that? Id say its respected, maybe not enough but definitely not treated as a joke.
Stef i mean im just saying from my own personal experiences of people telling me that you cant make a living off of jazz or that jazz isnt respected any longer
This song isn’t really jazz though? More blues.
Mate going from Redbone to Mandalorian. You're a master of creativity. Mad props.
The making of 'Me and Your Mama' would be truly appreciated. I think the song is so underrated 🧐

Beethoven was black it's a real fact
_Muh fact_
Beethoven died of cirrhosis surely due to hemochromatosis, explaining a swarthy complexion. German peoples calling a german guy spaniard/moor in the XIXth century doesn't means this guy is sub-saharan black lol. Lots of portraits and busts of him and his family exist, they aren't black people, but germanic white people.
Teffy He's actually Ludwig Beethovens Goransson 😎
I truly believe producers do the same amount of work as singers/rappers if not more. You hella talented if you can do both 🔥🔥
syd16packchicken without them the artist wouldn't have a lot of recognition
producers do almost all the work lol
Very true. Producers get VERY little recognition! :/
