- Craig and I made an attempt to get the tractor running. I probably gave up too easily, but I feel overwhelmed with projects at the moment. So I sold the 1466, and made enough to cover the debts Nick owed me. You wouldn't believe how many people want a project! After owning it twice, I'll miss it a little, but it's just iron.

At least you still have the boehm farm flag ship, the 1086. That’s a real shame Nick destroyed that 1466.
Yes, older 100+ horsepower tractors are making a comeback. Especially when a new 100 horsepower tractor is $80k+ and has more electronics and emissions.
I'm expecting Budd to realize this and start building modernized simple 105-120hp range gliders that will take import engines without a problem.

I'm just glad its not going to the scrapper. Definitely going to be a project for the new owner but at least its in much better hands.
That makes me sad. I have a special place for 1466s and there aren't many on YT. I enjoyed watching it on your channel.
Thats a good thing you rescued it and then sold it to new owner. Otherwise it would have rotted away in mud.

I just sold my pride-and-joy in tractor form a week ago, and it rolled down the driveway on a trailer today with the new owner. I still have my late father's tractor, which is more important to me, but it was still a little bittersweet to say goodbye to a tractor that I put so much effort into finding and buying. But, as you say, it's just iron. My bank account sure feels better now!

Something else also. 66 series is extremely popular for pulling. Right now I’m looking for a 66 that doesn’t run to build a hot farm tractor. You probably had some people looking to do the same thing

I saw it when you first put it on and wondered how long it would last. It didn't sound good cranking like it had a valve train issue. You did the right thing.
I was thinking the same about the cranking. Maybe he had the pump 180 out. 🤔
it almost sounds like a valve was sticking open then snapping shut
when i was a kid, these were huge tractors. never would've believed they could end up being the hobby tractor that people want to buy non-running, and a type that could just be flicked away onto a trailer by a "mini-hoe"!
There is so much on that tractor in reliable shape that is normally SHOT on them that even as a glider it's a steal. For the most part the kind of environmental care this age of tractor has received would get you arrested if you did it to dogs. That thing is _PRETTY_ even.
I went in to a local used dealership down here that had a fully show-ready Oliver xx55 with a hard awning roof just sitting out in the weather and yelled at them a couple years ago. No bucket on the pipe, sunlight beating on the hoses...
The open pipe bugs me too ... all the difference between something that could still run well VS a hunk of rust that takes a miracle to restore.

That is still a good tractor. Some time and money it could be made good again. They are simple to work on with a good engine and NO electronics except a fuse panel and alternator. New or even slightly used tractors in that hp range are bringing stupid prices at auction. I have a neighbor who worked for IH dealership 40 years. He could have it screaming in a short period of time...

You must have enough irons in the fire that it is best that you let the 1466 go, besides the 1486 has a much better cab. How's Craig coming with his load of treasures from Ross?

Road diesel kinda has a green tinge to it. Probably the same as your white.
@@boehmfarm4276 here in ireland the green stuff is what you put in a tractor ........and the clear diesel is what you must use in a car van pick up , jeep or truck .......big fine if you get caught with green in the tank ........... green diesel is about 1 euro per liter here and the white / clear diesel is about 1.60 euro per liter ..........no jeeps over 3 liter engines here for that very reason ............!

I like it. No complaints. I'm mostly mad about breaking my seven. I don't necessarily use all the features of the nine.
@@boehmfarm4276 That’s good to hear, was planning to get an 8 for $200 during a GoPro sale recently but they’re sold out now so looking at the next cheapest thing (Hero 9), 10 or 11’s are nice but holy heck are they expensive.

I'll say this I wouldn't give up on that 1466 that easy. At least I wouldn't let someone until it was ran and back out in the field doing what it's supposed to do. I'm a big fan of the 1466 international. I'd rather see a case tractor hooked to the 1466 plus 2 cylinders. It isn't good for nothing anyway besides scrap metal
I wanted to make it run, but I'm trying to keep the number of projects low. I can't get them done fast enough right now.
