Pin position comes to the manual of arms ergos, where Soviet has arms come in and it's tossed underhand or backhand (not always depicted right, not as natural) while NATO follows US with a wind-up and overhand toss (going back to the baseball study). Wasteful extra motion for the Soviet style when overhand throwing but not for Western, tho less target is potentially presented. For the spoon, it also probably isn't heat-treated or correctly after stamping, which is something I've noticed with M228 training fuzes.

Lets not get ahead of ourselves, this grenade has likely been in manufacture for decades, and as far as I am aware likely did go to Iraq and Afganistan to equip local troops, that lean soviet-style in their pre-existing training, so I expect not all the ones ever made only ever sat in a warehose. For all we know, Arsenal sent Valgear media corp the box that someone dropped 5 times, because after his Bulspike video, they have been working 14 hour-days straight, and frankly would like to stop for a weekend at least.
In the unlikely scenario that Valgear media corp has been the first to ever figure out that these grenades have a (as I've already seen it explained here) possibly minor design flaw, which should be serviceable in the field (if the user has the time), and if not mended would not affect every single application, but happen occasionally, and you would like to help me (and many, many others that watched the video, reached out, but never made a comment or read the other comments) - I sent an email to the C-level type peoples ("director of" s most of them were called), but I could not use the contact us form on their site (my laptop really wants to avoid russian influence operations, beyond my capacity to tell him its an ok form), and I dont use twitterX or FB (because I barely made it past covid, and the war really made it likely I would hu rt someone I know), so - go there.
Again, this is a manufacturer with at least 100 years of institutional maturity. Before you overreact, watch the Bulspike video. Same factory. They are more likely than not gonna have a nice laugh about us on a coffee break tomorrow. Still, the only way I would be sure at minimum 1 person wrote them about it is what I did, and I told you about it.

Honestly they could very slightly change the design of the spoon and avoid the whole issue. If the spoon shrouded the nubbings on the side of the fuse, it would likely reinforce the metal enough to avoid bending. Just a few cents more metal and an additional bend would strengthen it. But what do I know, I'm just watching youtube videos.

A number 10 in a circle is the identifier that Arsenal's factory got assigned to put on their products some time back, just one such number among others, I am sure Dunarit also has a number in a circle, and there are at least 9 other such numbers in a circle on other products (I am not sure if it was for Bulgarian arms industry only, or Warsaw-pact wide for example). It has always been weird for me that you guys seem to perceive that as the "brand", but it makes sense at the end of the day.

My good buddy is left handed and he switches the pin to the roght side on all of his flash bangs and grenades. He uses duct tape to ensure the spoon stays in place whilst also holding the spoon.

It's one of the tropes we had here by russian propaganda post 1989 and esp up to hysteria for 1999 - 2004 (when we walked to path to NATO membeship) - our great military industry this, our great military industry that, NATO bad. First, (post 1944 occupation, industry is another 50odd years older than that)they "let us" have the dirtiest and most dangerous and lowest profit margin industries.
Plus, even if local industry (my late uncle was a colonel equivalent with a technical engineer job, from what he told me, and he was pro russian to his bones) did try to develop more sophisticated weapons systems, they were often rejected for not being made in russia enough, even if they performed on par or better. He would always tell me stories of the (his baby) anti-tank guided system did so well in parallel testing (circa early 80s or so), the soviet officer came up to him the second day, and had him have pieces ripped out for the repeat trial to have maximum communism again for the concerned observing generals. I am sure that there are many more examples like this, but I want to share mine that I have no reason to doubt the source of (personal) - as he loved him some russia, but hated bitterly what happened to his work.
Secondly, if you are the US, and you're looking to shop around for soviet-style small arms, ammo, basic weapons systems to arm 1 or 2 countries with for 20 years - you're not spoiled for choice. I expect they bought heaps of the stuff, for our industry's scale at least. Iraq army had a tradition of cooperation with Bulgaria in pre-1989 times. Vatniks would say - NATO bad.

For all I know, that box was made in 2022, and maybe already the ones rolling of the line today are better, perhaps this was in itself some kind of design iteration introduced earlier, that did not exactly deliver only the planned improvement. I know that both Arsenal and Dunarit have sold heaps of gear to the USA, as one of the sources used to arm both Iraq (who is anyway a traditional customer for these companies for at least 60 years) and Afghanistan, so it seems logical to me that at least previous iterations of these had been sent to places where people at least tend to get them out of the box, and give them a try.
Anyway, just to make sure I am not overestimating them (If I was the CEO of Arsenal, I would watch closely) myself, and as I have already seen in comments here, others have tried to reach out specifically for this video.
And finally to my point - another term that does not translate well is "polygon", which in English I would call a "range", they mean the same but the names cane about differently (think of how a range would look on a map, is my guess why a lot of us in Slav-country call it "polygon").
Finally, we have a good 20-30 % "people under the influence of russian information operations", or vatniks, which by the very low voter turnout (guess who works in that direction as well) get an oversized representation in our Parliament, causing the election spirals such as the one we are in now, started as soon as putin and his cohort learned about certain artillery ammunition, that may have changed hands at the beginning of 2022. I am sure putin and co are sure pissed of they did not manage to blow all of it that we had in 2014. I don't expect there are very many workers in the factories in Ruse or Sopot, that have anti-USA views, I am certain they appreciate the business. As a taxpayer of Bulgaria, I also appreciate the tax dollars that at the end contributed to our common good here, we need all the money we can get. It is a strange world we live in today. But we have the opportunity to get closer together, and derive strength from that.

@@killerkirill1 That is an interesting scenario you described. Never seen a spoon fail to deploy. I like your idea of throwing another grenade next to it. On a range you can't just wait for EOD, you wouldn't want to call the range cold with all that leftover ordnance.

0311 USMC problem with grenades is QC, had a few grenades that fuse lit as soon as pin was pulled, so defective ,now going through your mind at that instant do you really hive 5 seconds till it blows... Hang fires/delayed detonation were also too common.

We have the GHO-2 in Arena Breakout, both on the mobile and PC versions (which is essentially Tarkov by Tencent). We tend to prefer it since it can damage and kill players through walls regardless of thickness unlike the M67 and Mk2 frags.

With the pin on the right it would be easier to pull how you'd throw an M67 if you're left handed. Flip the grenade upside down with the spoon facing in towards your palm of your right hand. Should make pulling the pin less awkward, other than the mentioned flaw.

Stupid question from someone with zero military experience: why not hold it rotated slightly, so that the spoon goes towards the middle knuckles of fingers instead of palm? Is that a general safety issue? Would it be more dangerous/difficult to throw?

    • @XtreeM_FaiL
      @XtreeM_FaiL 21 день назад +3

It is more dangerous. The spoon is your friend and as long as it is secures, you're safe. Spoon agains your palm and you hold on the granade.
