I don't get why people get so mad when a band tries something new, I respect it. I'm not surprised they signed with VEVO as they aren't very well known and they might need it. Anti-Flag's message hasn't changed, they're are just trying a new way to make good music. Correct me if I'm mistaken but Anti-Flag have stated that Anti-Flag does not mean Anti America, it means Anti War.
Exactly, and like its so hard to google shit. In the words of wiki " The band is well known for political activism, focusing on anti-war activism, anti-imperialism, class struggle, human rights, and various sociopolitical sentiments."
They see signing with VEVO as selling out- an anti-establishment band agreeing to do business with a giant asshole corporation is gonna rub people the wrong way.
I get that, but I think some people forget that these guys have adopted music as their life, and if they aren't making the money they need to, they are going to have to do something different.
1. Vevo is not a record label. It is a music channel that is supplied by (mostly) major labels. 2. They only released two albums on a major label before moving back to "indie" labels. Other than that, I agree entirely with your argument. So long as that message is continuously present and pure, I don't see a band going to a major label as an entirely bad thing. However, smaller independent labels are less likely to fuck you over on your record deals, except for Victory Records.
I dont think I can separate the art from the artist on this one. This one hurts and I still wear Brand New merch; at least that guy never acted like a good person.
i love anti flag i love blink 182 i love sum41 i love green day i love rancid i love Punk rock music ska punk pop punk hardcore punk etc. = PUNK ROCK :)
What selling out isn't: Getting a haircut, wearing different clothes, using different equipment, working with different people, writing new music, selling music in one place as opposed to another, playing certain venues, etc... What selling out is, IF it's anything: Comprising your core beliefs for material gain.
This comments section is cancer. The "They still sing about the same messages they used to but they can't possibly mean it now because they have money." rhetoric is bullshit. You realize you are able to do a lot more to help the causes you fight for with money, right? People don't question the validity of other musicians activism if they don't play Punk music. I don't see a lot of people saying how fake Serj Tankian or Tom Morello are just because they are associated with big labels. Also, this "Punk is dead" rhetoric is also bad. Maybe you don't consider major label bands to truly be Punk, you can have that opinion. But if you would just look for some Punk music you would find it, it wouldn't be on a major label and it wouldn't ve twenty to thirty years old. I have plenty of independent Punk/Crust/Hardcore etc bands in my music collection that are active and established within the past ten years, you're just not looking hard enough. Oh and the thing about independents is that they don't really get promotion because they don't usually have real budgets to do anything. Don't complain about it being hard to find a band with a small fanbase and no ads, if they had ads you'd call them sell-out.
Bartholomule01 that's the dumbest thing I've ever heard. People think money makes everything better as if there aren't things to be angry about anymore once you have a little money or be inspired by. Comment sections and ignorance are cancers hahaha
And as far as original posts go, my original post was to simply point out that everyone needs corporate systems, everyone needs money, everyone needs commercialism, everyone needs a reason. And honesty to get some 17yr old know it all riled up. As of the present time, I've done exactly that. One day you'll get it when you're all grown up and out of mommy and daddy's house. You'll look back and say " man that annoying guy was right". Great songs, great performance and great gimmicks.
Todella nautittavaa Punkrockia! Awesome. Tästä ei punkbiisi juurikaan parane. Aivan mahtavaa. This is just about what punk means! Älkää työ välittäkö mun huonosta enklannin kielestä. Kappale puhuttelee upeasti. Brilliant.
I love Anti-Flag because they have the balls to speak out about their opinions unlike nearly all music. I also love Green Day because their albums are fantastic (American Idiot especially) because they can write so well and get such an important message across. Punk rock will never die!
anyone who says they sold out listen to the lyrics of this song, its painting a pretty damn accurate picture of our society and how we try and portray it to the rest of the world
You should, Justin is adooooorable. I was crushin on him at your age too. I met him when I was 12, it was super awesome. Try to go to one of their shows, they usually love to meet fans. :)
I found a very old CD of mine called Die for the Government. I listened to it a lot many, many years ago so I looked these guys up. They've come a long way haha. Not really my kind of punk, but still, good to hear someone original out there.
first of all, i think punk is just as much in the type of message being sent as the way it is being sent, its not just a style of music but it also has to do with the messages that are being brought forward, damn good band. also they didnt "sell out" or anything like that, their job is to change the way we think and try to get us to act together and change the world (something that people should start doing) who cares if they get paid because they sound so good doing it?
I used to think that the idea of a record contract equaling a sell out in the punk world was not necessarily true... But then I think... Green Day on Broadway. I hope if I ever see Anti Flag live again they stick to more old material and don't play the clash either.
I saw Anti-Flag for the second time a month ago, and they played a lot of good shit. A decent amount of songs pre-2007 and no Clash covers (Personally, I would love it if they'd play a Clash song since I love both bands). Nonetheless, they DID NOT disappoint. They ended the show just like when I saw them on the Warped Tour...with practically the entire band performing the crowd. I must also mention that my second time seeing them was the closest I've come to permanent hearing damage, it was fantastic!
best punk hairdew in my mind Doyle from the Misfits in the 90's a fauhawk mixed with a devillock=epic(note random thought running through my mind that i wanted to share with u)
@RedBassplaya thats true endgame was reconfirming that, I'm still waiting for my copy of The general strike to arrive, depending on what thats like my opinion may change
TVdude321io is right. why do these people always argue? thats the one reason i dont like anti flag videos, these people in the comments have no life and all i see is a paragraph of hateful things about being a "punk". we all are anti flag fans, we should all be friends!
And they put out a great record in 2009 on SideOneDummy, and their latest album The General Strike, is quite possibly one of their best. And Funk, if you want to name drop bands, at least name bands that aren't well known in the underground if you want to look cool, which you failed.
@SYSCHICN I agree. I think if anything they have evolved with their music. They are talking on issues that a lot of people don't think about. They are trying to educate people on politics, the miitary, the media, etc. I fucking love the newer Anti-Flag.
yes! definitly, just becaus it isn't made at the same time or same way doesn't mean it doesn't have the same soul, these guys, the street dogs, gaslight, hot water music. They are all punk just diffeent forms, i feel unk is more of a mindset in the bands and the fans which is shown through the lyrics, just because a guitar doesn't sound the same as another punk band doesn't categorize it as a different genre.
I was listening to these guys when I was 14. I'm 22 now. They didn't sound like this when I was listening to them. But you kids who find them now should trace their music back farther than this....it will only get better. I can't believe a punk band, especially one this upfront and in your face got as big as they did. I'd hate to say they sold out because I think their aim is still true (At least I hope it is). I don't listen ANYTHING "punk" anymore.
@x1scrasher Actually, there is a space in Green Day. I'm not sure about the others, but I think it's Blink 182 and Sum 41. But I am absolutely sure Green Day has a space.
Now my favorite band = Rise Against, and I have every album they made, including some songs like sight unseen and such, but really, we are on anti-flag's music vid, so they might get jealous if we hype up RA too much :P
You people cant appreciate good music. All you talk about is what the type of music it is and then it turn to an argument. Why cant you just enjoy the song? Its simple.
Being signed to a major record label doesn't mean they sold out. They would have sold out if they signed to a major record label AND they were censored or singing about something completely different. The fact they want to become heard by more ears does not mean they are a sell out. In fact you should be happy the message is being heard by more people. I don't like copout excuses like yours especially if you are belittling them for making more people aware of their message.
@tbuggs1 Hell, I'm 16, and I'm growing up on NOFX, Bad Religion, Anti-Flag, Rancid, Operation Ivy, etc. The only difference is you got to EXPERIENCE them. xD
Lol @ the Disney ad before an antiflag song... also this kinda reminds of their old song "emo sucks"" which was a making fun of this sound... I like this song tho it's all a bit ironic
Why are you guys fighting about who's punk or not? like @SYSCHICN said, anyone can be punk. Just cause someone listen's to non punk music or plays music and isn't necessarily punk, doesn't mean they aren't punk. Punk is a lifestyle and attitude, not how one plays music. If you have the attitude of a punk and you say you're a punk, then you're a punk. That's that, people stop obsessing about who is punk and who's not.
They haven't been on a major label since 2008, people still talk about this? Some people have some growing up to do. If you don't like something, then don't fucking listen to it. It works for me, I used to care about people calling Fall Out Boy a punk band. Do I still care? No, let them. It isn't hurting anybody. As for Anti-Flag, they are a punk band that went to a major label with a two record contract to spread their message and at the same time experiment with their sound a bit.
Been listening to these guys since the early 2000's, glad to see their still around and people are still discovering them.
I don't get why people get so mad when a band tries something new, I respect it. I'm not surprised they signed with VEVO as they aren't very well known and they might need it. I get that, but I think some people forget that these guys have adopted music as their life, and if they aren't making the money they need to, they are going to have to do something different.
You don't get on Vevo until you can already make enough money from your music to survive. They did just fine before it.
However, smaller independent labels are less likely to fuck you over on your record deals, except for Victory Records.

ska punk pop punk hardcore punk etc. = PUNK ROCK :)
Punk never dies!!
But I do inside
Who says NOFX has died out. They're still kicking ass with new music and still touring!
Awesome song by an awesome band. And like #2 had said "punk rock is an idea and lifestyle, not a sound."
They are such an amazing band. I have been listening since underground network and they still impress.
They were so much better, a new kind of army, die for your government.... They use to be my favorite band.
@@splooge825 I love that album too but I think this album is really good and almost a masterpiece for this band
What selling out isn't: Getting a haircut, wearing different clothes, using different equipment, working with different people, writing new music, selling music in one place as opposed to another, playing certain venues, etc...
What selling out is, IF it's anything: Comprising your core beliefs for material gain.

thanks for explaining it to the dumb shits
Kick Ass Thank You
Also Check out The Angry 88. Thats my band A small kinda Thrash punk band
Bartholomule01 that's the dumbest thing I've ever heard. People think money makes everything better as if there aren't things to be angry about anymore once you have a little money or be inspired by. Comment sections and ignorance are cancers hahaha
I'm so lucky I discovered this band. Proud to be a new fan
all those bands you mentioned are awesome regardless. Bands can't stay the same forever no matter how much we want them to.
I envy those girls.. my 2 favorite things, skating and Anti-flag! *_*
we need more people in the world that can see past the genres created by record stores and just appreciate music for what it is
"The heart of America, where they sell souls" Wiser words have never been spoken
Todella nautittavaa Punkrockia! Awesome. Tästä ei punkbiisi juurikaan parane. Aivan mahtavaa. This is just about what punk means! Älkää työ välittäkö mun huonosta enklannin kielestä. Kappale puhuttelee upeasti. Brilliant.
Against Me!, Anti-Flag, Billy Talent, and Sum 41. This would be the best tour of all time.
I love Anti-Flag because they have the balls to speak out about their opinions unlike nearly all music. I also love Green Day because their albums are fantastic (American Idiot especially) because they can write so well and get such an important message across. Punk rock will never die!
anyone who says they sold out listen to the lyrics of this song, its painting a pretty damn accurate picture of our society and how we try and portray it to the rest of the world
I love that eagle squeal from the guitar!
It seems to appear in all of their songs!
1:58
0:21
You love rape rock ?
It's called a pick slide
Throwback! I miss the 2000s so much!
You should, Justin is adooooorable. I was crushin on him at your age too. I met him when I was 12, it was super awesome. Try to go to one of their shows, they usually love to meet fans. :)
Punk Rock is so much more than just a musical genre! ;)
Quite probably the best modern punk band. great message, great music.
They did not sell out. Justin Sane has even admitted that they only signed to a major record label so that they could get their message across.
Love this song had always hoped for a better video but these guys are one of my favorite bands
Esta banda mola mucho y casi nadie la escucha...
I found a very old CD of mine called Die for the Government. I listened to it a lot many, many years ago so I looked these guys up. They've come a long way haha. Not really my kind of punk, but still, good to hear someone original out there.
im so pumped i cant wait to see them on the 5th
thanks anti-flag for not playing songs off this album anymore when you tour. new kind of army and the terror state were the shit.
My friend showed me this music video because of the roller derby. I LOVE DERBY! I'm trying out in 3 months :)
16 year old girl....
Wait. Let me stop you right there. ✋😂
Why ?
Rise Against picked up where Anti-Flag left off! So bummed I missed them in hollywood jan 10!
how did I miss this? goes to show I was too busy being miserable in 2009 to know what was going on around me.
@Jojodog5 no anti flag did do one with the bouncing souls, which is ironic since the souls appeal is that they only care about getting drunk.
I don't think Anti Flag cares if they make a music video or not but let the videos come and hear some great songs
first of all, i think punk is just as much in the type of message being sent as the way it is being sent, its not just a style of music but it also has to do with the messages that are being brought forward, damn good band. also they didnt "sell out" or anything like that, their job is to change the way we think and try to get us to act together and change the world (something that people should start doing) who cares if they get paid because they sound so good doing it?

this video is the deepest most symbolic thing i have ever scene.
3:30 way to drop the bass Dos 😂
best punk hairdew in my mind Doyle from the Misfits in the 90's a fauhawk mixed with a devillock=epic(note random thought running through my mind that i wanted to share with u)
I didn't realize talent was exclusive to bands without pay
i was in the first row at the billy talent concert and he gave the whole first row a high five :D
2024, some things never change. Keep rocking 🤟
The MISSION ACCOMPLISHED banner is hilarious. The USA can keep telling themselves that, while accomplishing absolutely nothing.
And the videos concept. Is pretty cool too
Labeling music is NOT PUNK. It's about being yourself. Which is what yes even Blink, Sum 41, and other bands do, encourage you to be an individual.
Boots Riley,,, is that you at 2:35 ?
houstonbrad Yes it is. And Tom Morello
@PFCRatoulli You sure about that? I'm almost certain it's 18 in most places of the US.
And they put out a great record in 2009 on SideOneDummy, and their latest album The General Strike, is quite possibly one of their best.
And Funk, if you want to name drop bands, at least name bands that aren't well known in the underground if you want to look cool, which you failed.
Any punk band that rocks like this and writes a song about Vieques Puerto Rico is really fucking cool in my book.
Wow this makes me feel old! XD still kicks ass!
saw them in a documentary man they are good punk is not my type of music to listen 2 but they are awesome!
“16 year old girl! “stop touching yourself bro your 50
damn chris barker! he made my heart melt!!
anti-flag way better then all main stream punk rock.
@fooligan22
I noticed that, it would actually make sense having Boots there.
saw them in cleveland! they were 100% badass! :))
@firelord276 theyre music style is pop-punk..which is totally different then the sex pistols etc...but why is this under an anti-flag video?
Yea you might be right. I have strong opinions but thats my way. Still punk is my style. Respect to you that youre brave enough to say things loud
@bereskwolf I'm pretty sure they did a split album together.
@SYSCHICN I agree. I think if anything they have evolved with their music. They are talking on issues that a lot of people don't think about. They are trying to educate people on politics, the miitary, the media, etc. I fucking love the newer Anti-Flag.
Hey isnt that guy Boots Riley on 2:40?
Just Insane!
yes! definitly, just becaus it isn't made at the same time or same way doesn't mean it doesn't have the same soul, these guys, the street dogs, gaslight, hot water music. Punk Rock. Best musical genre!! :DD
lol thats Tom Morello as the angry coach isnt it? hahaha nice.
I was listening to these guys when I was 14. I'm 22 now. They didn't sound like this when I was listening to them. is there anywhere were I can get custom decals on a guitar?
@x1scrasher Actually, there is a space in Green Day. I'm not sure about the others, but I think it's Blink 182 and Sum 41. But I am absolutely sure Green Day has a space.
@spooky599 Why are you talking about your opinion on Greenday on an Anti-flag video. Also they haven't been good since Nimrod.
Now my favorite band = Rise Against, and I have every album they made, including some songs like sight unseen and such, but really, we are on anti-flag's music vid, so they might get jealous if we hype up RA too much :P
@LetNatureBe nicely said.
ikr. Forget mainstream garbage. Punk Rock singers are the best!
To also add a lot of "proto-punk" bands are also considered kind of pop because of their mainstreamism but that doesn't make them bad.
The end is epic look on Chris #2 :D
love seeing Tom and Boots in this vid XD
Sure, we have our problems, but the United States of America is the greatest, strongest country in the world, and don't forget that.
You people cant appreciate good music. All you talk about is what the type of music it is and then it turn to an argument. Why cant you just enjoy the song? Its simple.
Was that Boots Riley in the audience?
Being signed to a major record label doesn't mean they sold out. Dude, this song just made my fire alarm go off. That's pretty fuckin' rad.
Lol @ the Disney ad before an antiflag song... also this kinda reminds of their old song "emo sucks"" which was a making fun of this sound... I like this song tho it's all a bit ironic
You are right! Its very poppy!
@Donz19931 No Offspring? No AFI?
@Astrogothic101 if you listen closely to what there singing it still means something
@Donz19931 Rise Against?
legend.
@ozymay I am tottaly with you on that, but also punk is a life style not necessarily music
Seeing them October 12th in Toronto. So fucking excited!!
If you don't have a punk side you aren't human.
@EvanPhillips1994 It's literally about a girl and a boy that JS met.
My daughter is in this video. At least I have that left.
@giovannilorie THANK YOU! MY THOUGHTS EXACTLY!!!
They haven't been on a major label since 2008, people still talk about this? Some people have some growing up to do. If you don't like something, then don't fucking listen to it. It works for me, I used to care about people calling Fall Out Boy a punk band. Do I still care? No, let them. It isn't hurting anybody.
