- DRIED SHRIMP
3 oz dried shrimp
5 cups hot water
MEAT PASTE:
14 OZ prawn in spices
12 oz canned crab meat
1 lb ground pork
1 eggs
SAUTEED TOMATOES
1/4 cup cooking oil
10 cloves minced garlic
1 small onion, diced
5 roma tomatoes, cut into wedges
1 TBSP fish sauce
ADDITIONAL INGREDIENTS
2 liters of water
2-3 lbs pork ribs
1.5 tsp salt
2 TBSP sugar
1.5 TBSP tamarind powder
1 TBSP shrimp paste
Fried tofu
DRIED SHRIMP
1. Soak all of the ingredients listed under DRIED SHRIMP for at least 30 mins. After 30 mins, remove shrimp BUT RESERVE THE LIQUID
2. Add shrimp into a food processor and blend
3. After your shrimp has ran through a food processor, add it to all the ingredients listed under MEAT PSATE. Combine well and set aside.
SAUTED TOMATOES
1. Heat up 1/4 cup oil. Once oil is hot, saute garlic til fragrant.
2. Then add diced onions and saute til slightly translucent
3. Then add tomatoes and cook for 1-3 minutes. Not too long, tomatoes should still hold shape
4. Set this aside
BROTH
1. Combine 2 liters of water with the 5 cups of hot shrimp water. Bring this to a boil
2. Once boiling, add blanched spareribs* and bring back to boil. Once boiling again, reduce heat and simmer for 30 mins.
3. After 30 mins, add your SAUTED TOMATOES, salt, sugar, tamarind powder and shrimp paste. Combine well until ingredients are dissolved.
4. Then add fried tofu and MEAT PASTE. When adding MEAT PASTE, add 1 large spoonful at a time. Cook this until the PASTE floats to the top.
5. Your broth is now done
6. Assemble your bowl with vermicelli noodles, scallion, cilantro and preferred veggies (I used shredded cabbage and purple onion for color)
*spare ribes: I placed my spareribs/ pork into a pot an filled it will water, 3-4 slices of ginger and ~10 pepper corns. I brought this to a boil and then dumped the liquid and washed the pork clean. The ginger and peppercorn helps with the small of the pork.

Thank you for adding to the comments for accessibility. It goes a long way.
I love Vietnamese food, but my seafood and shellfish allergy does not like most dishes. I'm sad... luckily my friend's brother make me Vietnamese beef stew.
Thank you
Not “Why did you guys let him?” 😂😂😂
Instant blame😂
@@alissanguyen_because you did not tell us ts
Hahahahahajajaja😂
I don't know about anyone else. But i really do love hearing your kids being kids in the background, im glad that you don't always mute them out. You're a mom making great content, i love your videos. And thanks for keeping the voices and faces of your babies seen and heard.
Agreed!!!!!!!
This right here is called, "Doing it Right!" Balancing and juggling kids/video/cooking without loosing your cool!! I Love It!!
She had help from Gma but yeah i agree. This mum's a superhero
@@RandomlnternetGuy It takes a Village! She could have made it worse by loosing her cool. Thats kinda the point.
Her face when mixing the paste and slicing the cabbage was actually too funny 😂😂
LITERALLY THIS FACE 👹 LOL
- ikr I love it 😂❤. That's because in other videos people CLAIM she always looked "depressed" && never smiles. I'm like, uhhh... yeah... you weirdos, I just DON'T see depression on her face. 😂❤
Sorry, we're not good babysitters. We were too busy saying hi back 😝
The soup looks absolutely delicious!!! I wished I wasn't allergic to shellfish!
There’s a vegetarian version of this dish
AJ : hi!!
this pot is blocking my beautiful face *moves it over*
hi!!!
That was AJ saying hi. Adam is the baby.
@@jmn3726 sorry haha
My favorite moments are anytime she speaks Vietnamese either to AJ or herself! She’s hilarious lol
“yo my baby’s trippin’” 😭
“Why did you guys let him?”
Sorry couldn’t say no to that face
Me when he moved the pot:
“put that back Aj!”😂
“My baby’s tripping” is gonna be the new “yo my baby’s crying” 🥲
Why not both noodles and cabbage 🤤
Ugh looks so good
This is my favourite dish but the amount of steps 😂 Vietnamese food is a labour of love
Just love how there’s so much flavor layered in every part of the dish! Now I’m craving a massive bowl of homemade bun rieu. That tang is exactly the kind of taste that makes this noodle soup 👌👌👌
Sorry not sorry for AJ's impromptu cameo! 😊😍
I think imma be guilty for the rest of my life after she said "whyd u guys let him" 😂😭
The face she makes while shredding the cabbage 👹
GIIIIIIIRRRRRLLLLLL..... I KNO YOU VOTJ ALOT ON YO PLte... But I wanted to see 1 bite taken and let me know how delish it was.... lol... Like I trust you but parents wanted to know if it was bomb asf.... Lol love you!!!!!.....😂😂😂😂
It suppose to say I know you GOT ALOT ON YO PLATE.... BUT IM DUMB ASF...LOL
Adam goin to be the best chef in the future
That pre-fried tofu is so underrated. Prepping and frying tofu is a pain lol
Straight up! 💯
always get the ones in the hot box where they keep the fresh soy milk those are typically the freshest ones and they taste the best go early on restock days to get first pick
That looks so good!
Hi, AJ 👋
Why did you guys let him? 😂😂😂
Adam and AJ really are brothers, they look like each other and scream like each other😂
“Why’d you guys let him?”
HE THREATENED ME😭✋🏽
That looks sooo good 🤤 i literally saved the recipe and will be trying my best to replicate ❤
Lmaoo "yo my baby tripping" and "Scorpio" so accurate 😂
I'm going to try the cabbage instead of noodles, sounds like a great alternative.
Yo! my baby's crying... 😂😂😂 Yo! My baby is tripping 😂🤣🤣😂
You have such cute babies. This food looks yummmm
She said white people market 😂😂😂
I love all your foods I try them every time now my pantry full of sauces and powders…lol thank you for sharing we love you and your family ❤🙏
Never thought about cabbage instead of noodles, but as a diabetic I tried it and it was good! Thanks for the recipe and suggestion.
Your baby is so cuteeeeeeee 😍
my toxic trait is thinking i could successfully make this
I just made this and it’s BOMB. Thank you for sharing 🤩
"why'd you guys let him" fuck I'm a bad babysitter 😂
Yo this ain’t even burn ya bootyhole spicy, I might make this one!!
i like watching you because you say things that have a lot to do with being a child of 1st generation americans, or child of immigrants.. meaning YOU are american/or grew up in a western country with immigrant parents. idk if that's true, or if that makes sense, but that's just what i assume after watching a few vids.. you joke about such things ofcourse but i find you so familiar and relatable. i think that's why many people like your shorts. and i think mixed kids like me also like you, with all the cultural mash of foods and your family.
She said in her instagram that she was born in vietnam n moved to US pre-teen age
I don’t care for anything fishy or fish-related, so I wouldn’t make this but I have to admit, it looks really tasty, I could omit the shrimp I suppose.
And I’d use noodles and cabbage like someone else in the comments suggested. Now I need giant ramen bowls.
the music conductor part was so random 🤣🤣🤣🤣
I have come back and made this recipe at least ten times since you posted it. you did that fr
Her: pouring
An ad: that red stuff is a symptom of Thrush
The white people market I can’t be the only one who thought that was kinda of weird
imma try it its looks good and i wish i had freckles like urs they are so cuteeeeee
“White people market” cryingggg 😭😂
Kudos mama. I have 6 children under 13yo. Your little guys make some good noise! Lmao. Your kids ain't afraid of mama throwing a pan at them. My kids when I am cooking... Dead silence. Kids come in the kitchen nicely to help cook or throw out scraps. I feed 9 people 3x's daily. 🤣
Looks so good but i feel my old lady hands already swelling…
You are so real and your recipes are divine! Rock on girl!
Banshee AJ and Adam. 💙💙💙
Yes, I have been wishing this to happen. 🤣
"One trips, the other trips"😂😂
Did you just make my favorite thing to order whenever I go to a Vietnamese restaurant? Thanks for the recipe. Might try this at home.
goddamn this looks amazing
also, aj and adam being chaotic in the background is such a vibe 😂
My whole family is Vietnamese and bún riêu is one of my favorites other the pho😊
Made this today for hubby for Valentine’s Day 😊
My "Casper" 👻👻 white self is SO gonna make this!! Thank you! Ima amp up that spice!🤗🤤🤤🤤
Adam really stole the show 💅🏻
"White persons market" hahaha
Congratulations on making it to 1M subscribers 🎉👏
CONGRATULATIONS ON 1 MILLION!!
It’s 11:27pm and your videos are making me crave a spicy brothy noodle soup soo bad right now. I love chili oil in my noodles!
Hi AJ!!! Be nice for Mama!
Hi Aj!!! But back to mom!! NOOOOOOOOOO you didn’t show how delicious it was lol doooooo maaaaahhhhh gong kak! 😂😂😂😂😂😂 from you Lao/Thai/vietnamese/chinese sister. 😂🤣💀
It’s not our fault. We didn’t tell AJ to move the pot
He must be conspiring with The Other One
😂Scorpio Behavior 😂
Southeast Asian dishes are so beautifully complicated ✨
The "Bon appétities" + the somewhat elusive shots of your bousem make wonder too much. Please keep on making your weird faces and your children in the background in order to make me snap out of it. It's about the food and the presentation, not you.
75% of the way through she’s speaking Vietnamese and then I just realized why am I watching this I was just watching walking dead
You are so close to a million. Congratulations. 🎉🎉🎉
Thank you for sharing your recipe Alissa. 😊
I like like you and I just subscribed to your channel 3:25 you are living in VN or USA?
Don't get the two crab and one shrimp fish sauce 🦀🦀 🦐. Get the three crab 🦀🦀🦀.
i was surprised i saw sinigang mix 🤤🤤🤤🤤
I love your content!
Love y'all so much! Stay happy and successful!
Can’t wait. Congratulations 🎉
Her baby is xtra cute
Hiii AJ baby! Too cute!! 🥰
Looks kind of good aside from me knowing if I ate anything shrimp I'd be vomiting for the rest of the day. *sad face* I'm not sure if crab is ruled out yet but I'd die if I couldn't eat crab meat
Are you allergic to shrimp or just super sensitive to it? And I agree, if I couldn’t eat crab I would be so sad lol
@Heather Terry I should find out, but I don't know one day out the blue about a year ago I ate some shrimp and haven't been right since. I even tried one shrimp in another state and I was vomiting for 7hrs on the road.
I remember when my 3 yr old was still light enough to carry on one arm while i cooked😂 tiring but i didnt want him screaming his head off cuz mommy didnt wanna hold him, even though i was busy but he was a baby and didnt understand that mommy had to cook
Oh Wow!! This soup reminds me so much of my friend from Vietnam, she mad me this soup it was so delicious 😋
Thank you soo much for the written recipe 💓
Her funny faces is what keeps me coming back lol
👹Shrimmppss👹🍤
0:43 lmfaoooooooo this part Girll we don’t know what it means but we ain’t throwing anything away 😂❤😩😤
Great, now I’m hungry.
The way she gives her whole soul to explain us the recepy
Does ur husband love Vietnamese food as most of ur content is cooking Vietnamese food??
I watch you TV and recording in landscape would be so much better
2:25 trời ơi nó dăng tùm lum kìa Má ơi Má 😂 !!!
Bun Rieu is my favorite home cooked soup over Pho, Bun Bo Hue,..
Looks fire! Some pork blood cubes would've been a nice add-on.
Humm the soup looks great n all but no rau mung. Or cabbage plus bum is the best to eat it. Other then that looks delirious.
Hi can you please make vegetarian version of this recipe 😋😋
This soup has so many ingredients! I need to try it. I hope they serve it at my local vietnamese restaurant
you have gotten one million subs and you didnt notice🤣🤣🤣😂😂😂
Why did you guys let him?
No vex biko 😂
How do you know Vietnamese noodle soup, are you was going to Vietnam ?

@gaming foodie can you sub out the seafood and make it just as good if you don’t eat seafood?
