This run will follow up for Leicester in the prem. We will do what Ipswich tried to do but in a league higher
Ipswich will try to do that in the league above. Leicester don't look to have the team spirit for it and will have a points deduction and a potential transfer embargo.
I see this going to the final day but the top 6 are as it is - the only real battle for me is who ends up second. its Leeds versus Ipswich for me. And right now I can't call it. It's Farke vs McKenna both deserve it but only one getting automatic.

I agree with you. Leeds winning Friday makes them real favourites - I think Ipswich will draw one of their last three. If Leeds draw, then so can Ipswich and still go up so Ipswich would be my favourites then.

@@gazza1196WBA have only won one of the last 6 matches, and that was against the bottom and relegated club Rotherham. Four of the 5 clubs you failed to beat are all struggling near the bottom half of the table, Watford, Stoke, Sunderland, and Millwall. In fact Sunderland who are having a real bad season and are being slayed by their fans done the double over WBA. I saw the game at WBA. If I recall you only had 1 shot on goal, they were terrible. I know play offs can be a bit of a lottery but of the top 6 clubs West Brom are the weakest team

I think the winner of tonight's game has a real shot at pipping Norwich or WBA to a playoff spot.
I feel as though Leicester will be going up as champs barring a disaster on their part. Having been in pole position for most of the season (even if they did chuck away that massive points gap) it would be well earned.
The real battle will be for that second spot. Leeds have to win on Friday, any other result and it'll be the playoffs for us.
Ipswich have been a force this season, but if Leeds put the pressure on them with a win against QPR they could crack. If Huddersfield aren't down by the final day it'll be a tough game over at the John Smiths for them.
As a Leeds fan I'd rather be us with our massive GD. Games in hand aren't useful unless you win them.

As a Norwich fan all season I’ve been dreading play offs but for the first time since gw4 we have a fit squad with Sara Sargent Rowe and Sainz which is a very strong squad and with momentum we could go up (but we’ll go straight back down)

Norwich fan. A bit nervous going into the final 2. Swansea won last 3 games and Birmingham fighting for their lives. Our home record is great, won 8 in a row and then Bristol City came and we’re absolutely brilliant and got a well deserved point so winning at home isn’t always a given. Hull won tonight against Cov but Ipswich are going to be tough opponents and need the points just as much. We need to win on sat but if we don’t let’s hope for a Hull Ipswich draw…

The Automatic is 2 from 3 who handle the pressure and who ever finishes 5th or 6th will will win playoffs. Inconsistency and bad performances from 3rd & 4th will give them a mental barrier after a long hard season.
Sorry Matt but as a Rovers fan I’d prefer Hull to win tonight. If Cov’s season is over by the time we play them, we have a better chance of getting a point.

The good thing for Ipswich, is we will know what Leeds have done before we play Hull, so if Leeds win, then they have said, go on then, win the two away games and pinch second.

History proves that points in the bag will almost always trump games in hand. That goes for both Coventry and Hull tonight. Looking at the fixtures, and the form of teams, given the stakes. Leeds and Leicester are up automatically in my view. Ipswich wont bridge the goal difference gap with the top 2. Also Ipswich having to face Hull if they win tonight makes their task harder, but If your guys win they may be better off if you slip up before meeting them. Your schedule gives no respite after the emotions and work put in at the weekend. The price of success is always more games.
The Hull game then. In my football betting days I always went into the data to back up or correct my thinking. So I used positional DATA to check the teams outcomes (using +6 pt/-6 pt or a 6 block system) to check performance of teams against similarly positioned opponents. In this case both teams qualify against the same teams irrespective of which approach I use. An analysis will bring out the likely scores for both teams against the actual results and goals expected against similarly positioned opponents. The league position doesn't lie. The advantage now is that much more DATA is recorded than in my betting days so here goes. I have for this purpose included V's Norwich, and ignored the Hull V Coventry earlier.

It is fairly clear that the Hull attack has a slightly better conversion of an target chances than Coventry and also a tighter defence as Coventry concede more on target than Hull do (%conversion). Looking at on target chance creation Hull are also better, but they do concede more on target chances than Coventry normally get, so that may help. I wont bore you with this too much more but...
If the goals outcomes are consistent for each team and transfer into this match then a grid of scores can be created. (4 ways to fully assess in fact, which takes an age) from which you can assess home/draw/away possibilities for betting. Using only goals for, the result if the match played 25 times is...Coventry win 8, Draw 6, Hull win 11. So Coventry 0.32 is 2/1, Draw .24 is 3/1, and Hull win .44 is 5/4. Approximate true chance odds. So with the bookie odds of Coventry 5/4, draw 5/2, Hull 2/1 the only value bet is Hull to win, as the DATA suggests their chance is under estimated by the bookie, and they tend to rip out the value in the home/draw anyway. This can be extended into correct scores but they are riskier, and hard to hit. Here the most value exists in the following score predictions. Home team first...1-2, 0-2, 1-3. But this is football and nothing is certain.
The fact is that on all views of the raw DATA that Hull have a slight edge here. Now consider the context of the game, team momentum coming into it and the Hard game Coventry have just played, and add the emotional tiredness as well, it just looks like this has come a touch early for Coventry. Or they might just be able to pick themselves up for another fight.
So for me the most likely outcome is a Hull win (hope I'm wrong), and I predict a score of 1-2.
Whatever happens in the match whoever loses tonight is out of it, as WBA are likely to get 1 more point, and Norwich may get all 6 points from their remaining games. If WBA are to be the team to catch Coventry will have to beat them on points and win all of their remaining games given the WBA goal difference. It's a big ask. Doing this takes around an hour to assess just one match, so since I don't bet on football I don't use it for Prem predictions. But it does sit in the background of my understanding, and I can be wildly wrong.
