One of the best singers and lyricists in punk rock history, obviously smart guy, and he's always been super humble and genuine. Besides the talent for writing great catchy tunes, Dexter's attitude is what makes the band so unique and cool.
Around 16 years ago, I've met Brian (Dexter Holland) during simulator training in Wichita, Kansas, at the start of my pilot career. For me, he was just one of the boys at Flight Safety Intl. you meet and greet and occasionally exchange knowledge with. Imagine my surprise when I learned that the guy's actually frontman of The Offspring. I had no idea. So yeah, he knows how to fly a jet, too, and it amuses me that I haven't seen anyone mention it here. Seems like he didn't quite tell everyone and their dog that he was at flight school like I did back then, lol.
@@ancogaming Wow, did not know this. I checked wiki and it's barely mentioned but a lot is made of the fact that he received his PhD from USC in 2017. All I knew was he was from "Garbage Grove" (don't hate, my cousins called it that and they lived there). He did a solo trip around the world in 10 days in 2004. Very cool. As a recently retired airline pilot, I hope your career is going well. Crazy times out there now, but when isn't it in this industry. I was ready and happy to get out of it (early, thanks to covid). Not really a rejection or friendzone song. It's just that the girl uses him, but he's fine with it cause he has no self esteem and at least he gets to be with her.
Just some facts for non Germans: Offspring is playing here at 'Rock am Ring' and its called 'Ring' because it is actually a racing Track.. this stage is the main stage and its position is paralell to the homestretch. At this festival there are 3 big stages and about 85.000 people. In the early 2000s the slogan of rock am ring was that you could see 100 band in 3 days.. The first rock am ring was in the year 1985 with one stage. Headliner these days were Chris de burgh, Joe Cocker and Huey Lewis! Fun fact: Since 1985 every year at least one out of three days is raining... 32 years in a row.. Your Welcome. :)
Ps: The crowd there is standing on asphalt, what is quite comfortable because there is no mud where you just slip all the time... just awsome for moshpit action B-)
Since nobody else replied. Thanks for the info! In fact I am (half) German and grew up in Germany, just haven't lived there for the past 19 years, plus I don't even listen to this genre of music in the first place hahah. Nice change of pace from the usual youtube comment though. These are the kind of comments I believe deserve thumbs ups / +1's. Informative and original. Not that others are bad by any means, just not very special in any way, so why +1? But then again who am I to say what people like, haha. To each their own, right? :) Anyway, keep at it, even in the face of only a few thumbs up!
