I had to iron my clothes everyday when I was in the army, the only exceptions are your PT clothes. You iron your BDUs every day. I could normally get my BTUs out about 40 - 45 degrees horizontal at least before they folded over, that's how stiff they were.

I’m a Vet and the minute she said “ yes sir” I knew she wasn’t a Colonel. Also you can only get advanced pay from a financial building. And no Colonel would ever be out of uniform. She could’ve been arrested. They were nice letting her go.

I’m confident someone out there could effectively fake it, you would have to do a lot of research and being from a military family would probably help.
I can tell you why and it is because nobody wants to be the asshole calling out a wounded vet. A lot of these people think the more metal you wear the more legit you look. I was never in the military myself so I wouldn't know a fake veteran if I saw one but then again I also wouldn't give them anything either. Being a fake veteran pulls at people's heartstrings and everyone feels guilty if they don't do something for them. Fortunately I am not one of those people. There hasn't been a draft since Vietnam so if you are a veteran is because you wanted to be one that is your problem not mine.
I just like how polite the recruiter was. He only checked her a couple of times. I imagine when the "colonel" left the office the ripping began for real.
Some are scammers and shysters and others may have deep psychological issues. It's best not to be confrontational as you never know. The person might get violent at their delusions being questioned. I think he did the right thing.

Steel Castle many years ago, I was an Army Recruiter. People like this lady always felt the need to come into the office. My buddy was similar to the man recording this video. Let’s just say that I still get a good laugh after all of these years thinking about the characters that stopped by lol.
This is not related, but an interesting story none the less. I was in the norwegian navy, on a radar station. One day our chief was at a staff meeting in Stavanger, we were supposed to get new batteries installed on the big ass generator we would use if the electricity to the radar got cut. A maintenance guy from the base in Stavanger was going to come and supervice us. This older fellow in a dirty jumpsuit comes in a beat up Toyota van with the batteries, and with three of us regular soldiers it took us a good two-three hours to get the batteries up the hill, into the Mountain and get the old ones out. When we were finished the old fellow went to change for lunch and we set the table for him and prepared food for all of us. We were just getting ready to sit down when the guy comes in to our eating room, everyone froze completely. There, standing in uniform was the general-inspector of the norwegian navy, a full blown Admiral... And we had been talking shit with him all morning... He said he used to do these things once in a while, to get to see how the average joes liked it in his navy, and if they had things they thought could be better... Great guy, but a real shock to the three of us.
I got a simular but not quite as good story from my dad, an Oberst (basicly Colonel) in the German Bundeswehr. He drove to his base in his car when he saw 2 poor guys from basic just walking the whole way from the train station to the base, which was quite a long walk with all their equipment, cause the base was in the forest. So he picked them up and drove them to base while chatting with them. When they arrived they wanted to give him some money for the free ride, but he declined saying that would be bribing their superior and only then they realised that they just casually chatted with their boss while he basicly drove them to "his" base. Then they panickly saluted xD
The bdus have a class bonus. It brings her from civilian to 0-6. You have to be careful though. Anyone with an intelligence of 4 or higher will give those bdus -6 handicap.

I can tell you why and it is because nobody wants to be the asshole calling out a wounded vet. A lot of these people think the more metal you wear the more legit you look. I was never in the military myself so I wouldn't know a fake veteran if I saw one but then again I also wouldn't give them anything either. Being a fake veteran pulls at people's heartstrings and everyone feels guilty if they don't do something for them. Fortunately I am not one of those people. There hasn't been a draft since Vietnam so if you are a veteran is because you wanted to be one that is your problem not mine.

This is not related, but an interesting story none the less. I was in the norwegian navy, on a radar station. One day our chief was at a staff meeting in Stavanger, we were supposed to get new batteries installed on the big ass generator we would use if the electricity to the radar got cut. A maintenance guy from the base in Stavanger was going to come and supervice us. This older fellow in a dirty jumpsuit comes in a beat up Toyota van with the batteries, and with three of us regular soldiers it took us a good two-three hours to get the batteries up the hill, into the Mountain and get the old ones out. When we were finished the old fellow went to change for lunch and we set the table for him and prepared food for all of us. We were just getting ready to sit down when the guy comes in to our eating room, everyone froze completely. There, standing in uniform was the general-inspector of the norwegian navy, a full blown Admiral... And we had been talking shit with him all morning... He said he used to do these things once in a while, to get to see how the average joes liked it in his navy, and if they had things they thought could be better... Great guy, but a real shock to the three of us.

I got a simular but not quite as good story from my dad, an Oberst (basicly Colonel) in the German Bundeswehr. He drove to his base in his car when he saw 2 poor guys from basic just walking the whole way from the train station to the base, which was quite a long walk with all their equipment, cause the base was in the forest. So he picked them up and drove them to base while chatting with them. When they arrived they wanted to give him some money for the free ride, but he declined saying that would be bribing their superior and only then they realised that they just casually chatted with their boss while he basicly drove them to "his" base. Then they panickly saluted xD
