      To Missy... Party-pooper! ;-P
      There are plenty of cases where dogs (and sometimes cats) were obviously protecting their owners or kids. Instinctual loyalty to and protection of family/pack is a thing too, ya know. So is predatory chasing behavior. Hard to say exactly what's happening here, but no matter how you slice it, he was a brave little dog!
      Actually it varies by breed and by individual dog, and in most cases is likely a combination of motives.

    I’m a sobbing mess. This reminds me of when I charged a coyote with all the energy I posses in my body because he had my princess in his mouth (my cat, Bunny). He dropped her and ran for his life because he knew if he let me reach him, I would’ve fought to the death for my baby. I had to rush her to the emergency vet at 2am and they wouldn’t even touch her unless I forked up $800 on the spot. I had to apply for Care Credit over the phone to pay for it. She has puncture wounds in her neck and body and her shoulder was crushed like glass. I had to isolate her in my closet for 2 months so she could heal. Every day I’d be lying on the floor in my closet administering her meds, feeding her and cleaning her. I’m happy to report that 8 years later she’s a fully healed, fat fluff ball that runs to cuddle with me every time I sit or lay down. She’s my absolute princess and I’d be less of a person without her.

      Yes, the coyote population in America is getting out of hand, they are in cities, they are many places they weren't in before. One attacked a Pitt Bull here in my small town. The owner had 2 large Pitt Bulls on leashes (I am from the foothills of the Appalachian mountains.) The coyote followed them about a block. The man walking his dogs thought that it was a stray German Shepherd following them. He said out of nowhere this dog attacked and grabbed his dog. His dog's leash snapped and his Pitt Bull had taken off. He put up flyers etc and recovered his dog and made a post about the stray skinny German Shepherd that was aggressive. I said Don are you sure it was a German Shepherd? Could it have been a coyote?? Turns out it was a coyote.

The whole wrapping the dog up in a bin bag then just leaving the dog sounded very odd though, that part makes no seance at all!

    • @glemwheatley9425
      @glemwheatley9425 4 года назад +30

      According to the story, the dog broke the leash. Even the cartoon showed the dog running away with collar still on. Some people are inherently mistrustful of the world and like to find conspiracies where there are none. The story sounded plausible to me, parts of it told second hand. That’s how stories grow, nobody gets the perfect details second hand. I, too, wondered why the guy didn’t carry the dog all the way, but I assumed he was concerned somehow about moving the dog, or of the woman’s reaction upon seeing all the blood. Maybe he thought it would be best to sop up a towel with some of the blood first. Who knows. I tend to assume people are telling the truth until a more blatant lie is told or the story conflicts. If Eldad believed her, I believe her. And if I was her, I’d be getting a stronger leash, a larger stick, and a can of mace.

It would only attack her if she charged at it. You are also kinda wrong because It would really not attack the pup either because it was not alone. The pup charged and that provoked the coyote. But still, that pup is a tough one.(Bless the pup)

      Here in East Texas it is coyote breeding season. One lady took her small dog out to potty IN HER YARD, and one lone coyote snatched it up. Others have reported their larger dogs were lured to chase one lone coyote, who led it to a waiting pack. They are smart, and around here, they are appearing in neighborhoods which are not at all rural. We have even seen bobcats in this area. We have a lot of densely wooded areas even close to the center of town and we are encroaching on their territories. We must be vigilant because they are fighting for survival. We are even experiencing problems with raptors and hawks grabbing small dogs and cats which are 10 lbs. or less. Our population is close to 82,000, and we are experiencing a real problem this mating season.
