- Kick back, relax, and soothe yourself in the soundscapes of Baldur's Gate 3. Elfsong Tavern contains many a friendly face, the perfect place to unwind after a hard day of adventuring. We hear the ale is particularly good.
I grew up on Baldur's Gate 1. Always imagined my character lived at the Elfsong Tavern, used the upstairs rooms to store my stuff. To get to the Elfsong in Baldur's Gate 3, and not only see it fully realized in a 3d space, but to get a room there? Amazing. One of the most impactful moments of my first run. Cheers, Larian!
My first Baldur’s Gate (actually D&D in general) was Dark Alliance on the PS2 and I found it so awesome I have much nostalgia for it. The haunting melody still plays in my head. Glad to see Miss Alyth’s son doing a fine job running the place in Baldur’s Gate 3 ^v^
These poor people are waiting an hour for their food and still no luck. 0/10, Elfsong Tavern has some horrible service!

This is my favorite ambience by far! It's Bobby's music that steals the show.

When I arrived at the tavern in act 2 I didn't want to explore the world anymore. I just wanted to stay in the tavern listening to the music and hoping the game would never end.
I could probably find a corner in Elfsong to read.📖 📚

Bit of a rant here so feel free to skip if you wish, but I’m happy that every year out off all the bad games produced by greedy and immoral game studios that there’s always at least/a couple of games every year that get nominated and truly earn the title of Game of the Year. No matter how it looks there’s also diamonds in the ruff. Ever since the Witcher III in 2015 from what I remember every game of the year has been a diamond. Every year there’s a diamond and that’s what I love about this industry.
The Original Overwatch might no longer exist and now is a greed filled shadow of its former self, but Breath of the Wild, God of War, Sekiro, Ghost of Tsushima, It Takes 2, Elden Ring, and now BG3.
Now this year we have games like Helldivers, WuKong, and Space Marines (if one of these games don’t win GotY or if all of them aren’t even nominated then something’s up).
Quote me now but major companies don’t even know why play video games anymore. And yes everyone is different, but one thing that I think everyone can agree on is that the best games are games that feel like you can escape. Aka, has a good sense of escapism. Like think about I don’t think I need to explain why that factor is important.
Another big issue with major companies in my opinion is obviously being more excited about making money than making a good game, a piece of art, and happy that it’s getting the attention and recognition it deserves.
If I hear something about tomorrow that Ubisoft declared bankruptcy or that Blizzard stock price is in the toilet, I’d say good. But honestly that’s kinda sad, because that would mean that they never learned. It’s one thing to hear about a bully getting what they deserve but it’s another to see a bully learn from their mistakes and learn and end up becoming a better person than they ever were before.
The gaming industry isn’t going anywhere from what I can tell, and one day, probably a few decades down the line, a high quality masterpiece of a game that looks like it was made by a massive AAA studio is gonna be able to be made by 1 person. I mean look at major studio games in the 90s or 2000s compared to indie games today.
Anyways if you’ve read all the way to this, one I hope you’ve enjoyed the tavern music in the background, and two I hope you’re having a good day.
One final note, Fromsoftware, Santa Monica, Larian, and probably a bunch of other companies that still out their heart and soul and put their best foot forward no matter the situation to make good games deserve all the millions they have their way.
So anyone who made it this far, I want you to put an appreciative *cheers*🍻 in the replies or even just in this comment section for all the good games out there. And here’s to the future of gaming, where there’s diamonds every year!
