  • Took the day and took one last attempt at the 50 yards with SK Rifle Match. It ended in more frustration and disappointment in the BMR. Time to call Bergara.

    Im about to order one of these. The major thing I see here is. You might as well get up and move to a new bench for every shot. You take the rear bag out and fiddle with it and back and forth. Get a good rear bag. shoot 5 shoots down range without coming off the rifle. moving things around will cause many different angles of recoil against the bag or shoulder. I can shoot 3 shots in the same hole with my bench gun. Get up and let a new shooter shot 3 shots. It will be around a 1/2" group. Also check the actions screws for correct torque. Double check scope rings and bases. And make sure the end cap on the barrel is tight. The SK is what they seem to like. Ill test mine on a 200lb test rig out of the stock. I bet you will get much better results with it next time. Good Luck Brother

      That’s good advice. I tried all those things you mentioned but putting in a fixture. Also used my Edgewood rear bag no luck. The crown was rough and not even. The chamber also appeared oblong. Waiting on Bergara to get back with me on what is wrong with it. I was a little frustrated with the BMR when I did this video. Had did 3 prior but never posted because I wanted to give them a fare shake. I hope they figure it out because it is a nice rifle. I have also tried about 5 different brands of ammo also. Even if I end up using it as critter getter.

      @@BehindTheTrigger0 Stay after it. It may need recrowned. And its not impossible to get a gun that the barrel is just too far out of tune. You may need a tuner on the end of it. You should be able to measure a spent case to see if the chamber out of round. it will expand to the wall and back just enough to eject.

      Here’s the thing this is not the 1st time I shot this rifle. Before posting this video I probably put about 300 rounds down the pipe. Each time trying different ammo cleaning the barrel in between each brands, off different bags and even off different front rest. Even on a 20 mph plus wind day these groups are not acceptable for the price range. I get it no street credit. I am glad it is so easy for people to criticize others when you don’t have a full grasp of what is going on. So I propose that you do a video and show your skill Behind The Trigger!!

  • @The4GunGuy

    HI BTT. I hear your frustration! I bought a Vudoo and was having big issues with flyers. Turns out it had a bad firing pin and once they replaced that, it started to come together group wise.
    Sounds like you've tried other ammo as well including this SK Rifle Match (which is one of my favorite rounds) and still got similar results right? My old Tikka T1x loved ELEY ammo, but not other ammo...It was very finicky. My Vudoo likes Lapua and SK, but not other brands (It was built around the Lapua Center-X round).
    If you haven't already, you might make sure to:
    1) Check all action screws and scope mount screws to make sure they're all at spec torque;
    2) Deep clean the barrel, then run 20 rounds to just foul the barrel before your final test;
    3) Hang a 5 lb weight off the fore end of the stock (under it) using even duct tape as long as it doesn't touch the barrel, so you can add some weight to the rifle while you're bench shooting.
    I recommend these steps because Bergara will most likely ask you about #1 and #2 when you call them and you'll have that out of the way. Hope you can get whatever is wrong right with this rifle figured out my friend...We pay all this money, these things should work right for us!

      Those are good points to check out. I tried all those things you listed minus hanging weight off the stock. And yes when I called Bergara they asked me about 1 and 2. Sighted my new Begara BMR Car on in two days ago,first shots. 6-18x44 Vortex Crossfire II scope, Champion. Bipod. I used run of the mill .40 gr
    Aguila Duper Extra plated bullets. I ran a brush and happen through the bere and dried before firing. Fired to adjust to bullseye after looking down bore and aligniing the crosshairs (poor mans bore sighting) close to the bullseye. Shot and fine tu.ed the scope. It would NOT allow the group to print at center ran out of sdjustment 4" high and 1 1/2" right. I shit four 5 shkt groups for accuracy then. I had one 1/2", two at 5/16" and one at 3/16". These were all fired at 40 yards from a picnic table using a 4"x4"grooved blockk as my rear rest. None were close to the aiming point due to the s ope malfunction. I called Vortex utoner support talked to a really nice lady named Kate and had my return slip in my email in under 10 minutes.
    GREAT customer service. So, I fired a total of 80 rounds before removing and boring the scope.
    VERY ACCURATE RIFLE with ZERO problems and a great trigger. Begara will stand behind their rifles.an't waut to get the scope back and shoot some more.

    I'm biased, if I saw that with one of mine (which I have) 1) Check/change/retighten the mounts & rings then PUT A KNOWN good scope on it. I don't care if this scope just shot great on another gun, change it. I had (have) two scopes I use for this, a fixed Leupold 24x & a 6.5-20x. Saved me grief a number of times. 2) You won't like this one, I don't care what a magnifying glass shows, recrown the damn bbl, and have a gunsmith do it with a good tool, like a pacific tool & gauge, with the proper pilots or an adjustable "spud" type pilot as an old timer used to call it. Don't use a %^*$@#!! screw head in a drill or the marble valve compound method. It's so trivial that some gunsmiths will do it while you wait. Our guy, you just slipped him $25 and it was done slicker than sh*t. We purchased many rifles that shot like crap and solved many a problem on friends rifles & target pistols doing this. I know you've tried different ammo, cleaning the bbl and you've had the action in & out of the stock, so the bedding or lack of it didn't seem like it was funky. Between myself & friends I could almost always come up with another stock to try, It's not your inconsistent bench technique because you can shoot well with other rifles with normal, smallish fliers. Every once and awhile you get a shite barrel that's terrible, but it's pretty rare.

Before doing this video I was shooting my Bergara B14 HMR .308 at 100 yards and stacking the shots using the same set up… I also use video as a training aid to try and refine my shooting. The BMR
      has an uneven crown and sharp edges all round the muzzle… I believe there is also an issue with the chamber… I have shot the BMR several times and already ran through it…. Not to mention if things get out of focus it is good to look beyond the scope to regain focus again…

    Such a shame to pay the big bucks for these bugeras, most i`ve seen shoot like crap, harsh shiddy bolt cycling, jams and failure to eject, then have to box it up an ship it back and hope they fix it. I`ve seen way to many people have problems with these guns. Sure glad i never went down the bugera rabbit hole. For their price, you shouldn`t have to be sending these guns back to be properly fixed. Seems they have an abundance of quality control issues. I`m pretty happy with all my CZ457`s. Never had any issues with them, ever, i can shoot one hole groups with Norma Tac22 ammo, and no cold bore fliers. My 457`s do really well with plain ole CCI standard velocity too.
