  • A real quick and easy basic material hatching midge pattern, that can be fished static or twitched to give a little movement. One of my go-to flies for hatches of midge on still water.

    That's a nice simple pattern for all of us mere mortals!!!.
    Looks like a very effective pattern too, I'm just off to tie a couple or 4!.
    Exquisitely tied as usual Barry.
    Stay safe.

    Barry I've not used this before but I like the pattern. I don't use the word "simple," in a derogatory manner, it is simple in design and variety of materials, but to me simplicity and effectiveness go hand in hand and this is one of those. Thank you for sharing!

    Thanks for another super video. I've had lots of trouble finding hackle pliers that I like (haven't succeeded yet). I see yours look like rotary ones, what make are they and what do you think of them please?

    • @Thefeatherbender
      @Thefeatherbender  4 года назад

      Hi Tom, thanks. I have used the Tiemco rotary hackle pliers for years now and love them, I also have a little trick for improving them: ruclips.net/video/nFHfAkiOvXU/видео.html

      @@Thefeatherbender Thanks Barry, the Tiemco looks a bit like a Veniard one I tried some time back which didn't grip the hackle very well. I tried bending the 'jaws' but only made the problem worse. I'll give the Tiemco a try and give your modification a go if I find them slipping off. Thanks again.

    Barry, thanks for another excellent video. A quick question, I haven't seen you use any cement on your whip finishes. Is it not necessary? Previously I've always found myself using it as I'm scared they'll come undone.

    • @Thefeatherbender
      @Thefeatherbender  4 года назад +2

      Hi Scott, Thats right I don't do it on every video, I don't want to waste your time watching me varnish the head after every tie. But I do varnish most patterns when needed.
