I’ve watched this more than a dozen times I bet over the past six months or so. I love watching this fly be built up layer by layer as each material is tied into place. The original creator of this pattern literally thought of a way to use every material to its fullest potential in an effort to create an imitative fly built on classic patterns that only had natural materials available to them. Your skill tying these patterns is inspiring as I could only imagine the added difficulty in tying slightly from the side while filming POV for all of us on the other side. It’s pretty awesome watching you tie this as it puts many tiers to the test and few tie it as beautifully and they, like myself, are sitting directly in front of our workpiece and a lot have the added benefit of magnifiers etc. As always, amazing work Mr. Clarke, I just couldn’t watch the video one more time without telling you how much these postings and instructional videos have helped many of us advance much quicker than we ever could have without an in person instructor and only having books as reference! Thanks for all you do for our community!

Being from the Great Lakes state here in the states you had my undivided attention with the word "HEX".
Great looking pattern and a fairly simple tie. There are many patterns to be found here in The Water, Winter, Wonderland.
Some are quite elaborate and more "Art" than fishing flies.
Best Wishes and Tite lines Barry.. 🤠

And, by the way, it’s time for volume 2 of the book, some of us are anxiously awaiting another, or hopeful to see another. It really was likely the best I’ve seen and is an important part of my collection. It’s unfortunately missing a signature, but it will have one in due time I hope

Hi Mike, I just finished, yesterday a new book, but its in Norwegian, out in Feb 2023 so I need a little break from books right now...

@@Thefeatherbender so, I’m now considering taking language course in Norwegian lol. I’m sure it was amazingly done with much thought and time invested in every detail, as that is just what you do. I’m going to have to look for it none the less, so you’ll have to let me know when it is finally printed and listed for purchase. I honestly cherish the lessons that have come from your articles, book, and videos and have vastly improved my knowledge and skill level with your help

Hi Barry.. I love the size of this fly, and you tie it so well! Would you fish this in a lake as well? Or is it too big for that? Thanks for your instructions.

Beautiful pattern. I’m guessing you are not too worried about trimming the underside hackle because of the larger sized hook here?

Thanks Junior, no not at all quite common to fish with this in this size and even larger!
