Diana’s parents showed Diana rarely any love. Which is why she wanted to give and show love to the world. Her childhood is rather sad. Which explains why she longed for love and showed her sons unconditional love.

When my Son died I thought how will I ever get through this. It’s been 18 years now and I still cry cry cry I think about him every day. I still remember his beautiful smile and miss him so. That day was the worst day of my life. I still remember Diana the wedding, all the photos of her how beautiful she was and those beautiful eyes and how sad she was in her interview where she tells all. William and Harry were just a little younger than my boys I feel so bad for them that they lost their mother not how anyone would of thought her story would end she was so young. Bless her and those handsome boys now men.

Diana’s Mother was not around because of the divorce , she was only granted sporadic access to her children, the divorce was acrimonious in the extreme, Diana’s grandmother, Ruth Lady Fermoy was Lady in waiting to the Queen Mother, and she was an extremely manipulative woman....even siding with her son in law against her own daughter It was her influence that brought pressure on the Queen Mother to pressure Charles into marrying a “Spencer girl” Jane didn’t fit the bill, so Diana was pushed forward, saving the Spencers from financial ruin....Diana knew exactly what she was getting into, she was not naive.

I would like to assure you that Diana’s two sisters and her brother were deeply loved by their mother, Frances, SHE was treated very badly by Johnny Spencer, who was a serial womaniser, he had a dreadful reputation, but when his wife found another partner he went absolutely ballistic, he smeared his wife’s name appallingly, and even persuaded his mother in law to support him in his custody suit for the children, Frances had very little contact with them, she was not allowed to write to Diana when she was at boarding school, but when Diana left she stayed with her mother for a while and whilst they had a relationship of sorts, it was never ideal. Frances lived in Scotland, and was a regular worshipper at the cathedral in Oban, she was much loved by the locals ....she realised how badly Diana’s childhood had affected her, and even told Prince Charles that Diana was “difficult” ....when her mother, Lady Fermoy , The Queen Mothers Lady in waiting heard this she told Charles that Frances was a liar and that it was she , Frances , who had mental health issues.......I felt very sad for FSK she was a lovely woman who was treated very badly, and at the time of Diana’s death the two were rather estranged , due to Diana’s paranoia. Frances loved her children very much.

Frances fought for her children in two court cases, and even her own mother have evidence against her in court, calling her a bad mother. Frances mother was a snob and wanted her daughter to stay with the Earl and not a man 'in trade '.

@@rainbowpandasays8851 Don't forget her mum was in a violent marriage and had just lost a stillborn son before she had Diana; it's likely she was clinically depressed. Diana also said that she remembered her father slapping her mother. Frances didn't want her children to grow up in a household witnessing continual violent rows and felt it was best if she left. She did love them and she did try to get custody of them, but her husband had money to hire top barristers and she lost. The ironic thing is, if Diana's father had been an ordinary working man and the family had lived in a council flat, the neighbours would have long since called the police for domestic battery, John would have been arrested, and Frances would have custody; but because he was an Earl, nobody was willing to help her. It's a sad story.

I remember reading somewhere that Diana's mother wanted custody of the children but her own mother (Diana's maternal grandmother) testified against her own daughter, who then lost the case, keeping the children with their father.
That doesn't make her a bad mother.
A person's marriage breaks down and you may stop loving your partner doesn't mean you stop loving your children.
The grandmother wanted them to stay in England staying in tradition to keeping their family titles and in connection with the elites.
There were no winners in this, a truly tragic tale.

Diana's Mother Frances, was appauled at her Daughters behavoir.
Diana had turned to her former adversary ... her stepmother, Rayne Spencer for support, support she never got from her own Mother. In those last years Rayne and Diana were the best of Friends and spoke almost daily on the Phone. Rayne supported Diana in going forward in making a new life...and helping her to loose some of the old ghosts she carried with her and loose some of the misplaced hatred too. Rayne also pushed Diana into meeting Dodie Fayed !!!!!
