    Way to go Clay. Love the way you use every bit of that fish. I also make fish head soup every time I catch fish. I think your Kahawai is similar to our Bluefish here in the US. A lot of my fellow fishermen shy away from it because it has strong fishy taste. Some call it trash fish. I don't mind it at all. To me, there's no such thing as trash fish, just trash cooks!

      Blue fish is delicious...particularly if you get a sizable one and grill it...

      yes, I should have shown that. you can spy it in the boat between the chilly bin and its lid when I come back in up the beach. It was on the bottom of sea floor,. I dived down to get it.

    Apparently they stretch skate skin because it's slightly rough and brings out the essential oils and they stretch it over a pice of wood like a ping pong paddle in a round motion. Well that's just what iv observed.

      That is my intention as soon as the weather plays ball. I will go through the process of catching the bail (crabs) and how to bait the hook and set it up. I will also show you how to trunk & gut the fish and clean it before putting it on ice.

      I have done that too but I like the broth with cream and wasabi. Do you think my Wasabi cuttings will grow?

    What a great video Clay thanks, also that red bowl with the red flowers and Japanese writing on the inside that you were dipping the sashimi into which I presume had sauce of some kind in it where did you get that from and can it be purchased online and how much was it.

    if you bleed your fish while there alive they let out a lot more blood which is what you want from a fish like those

      The heart of these fish pump for up to 15 minutes after you have killed them. It's the heart that pumps the blood out.

    omgness Damon it all wrong!!! haha it's called "shinke jime" when you put a wire or something through there spine. Shinke means Nerve in japanese aoi San might know :)
    also you should be eating sashimi 1st to taste delicate flavor and soup and than skin :)
    I'm based in nelson happy to show you how i Shinke my fish :) maybe next time we could go for a fishing trip with David and Blake's boat for a trip. Thanks for awesome videos!
