The 5900X price sure was tempting. But I looked again at the VRM on this board and though that was just asking for trouble. I am delighted with the 5700X. I was needing the upgrade. I do hope AMD brings back the non-Pro threadripper. Everything with the Pro versions just seems so expensive.
Does it do anything with the new CPU in? Might try putting the old CPU back in and resetting all the BIOS to defaults. It also could be a defective CPU.
That was a good one to watch,Certainly helps. Any specific reasons of why you chose 5700X? I have a AB350M-DS2 board with 1500X CPU, was thinking to go for 5700G instead of 5700X due to limitation of the board in Pcie 3.0 interface.
Two reasons. Seems to be a little faster in all core workloads. And I have a pci4 ssd and was thinking I might pick up a cheap B550 motherboard first of the year. I expect the AM5 stuff to push the price down on the AM4 gear quite a bit. But the price right now on the 5700G is just about unbeatable.
Looks like their latest BIOS for the AB350M supports Vermeer and I'm pretty sure that is the 5000 series CPUs. I've haven't used an Asrock motherboard before. So I really not positive. Well I'm positive the 5700X is a vermeer CPU. It's so much faster than the 1600, it's sure worth a try.
My problem is to update bios. I have not a ram so i dont know if i can use a newer ram models can works or not? Or is necessary to buy an old ram first, then update bios and change for a newer ram and cpu?
I got the f50a bios still I'm wondering if I can just update to the latest or will I need to go one by one like some of the earlier ones? I'm looking to upgrade to the same for the meantime while I decide whether I want to stick with AMD or go Intel.

What you can do is go to Gigabyte’s website and look up the model of your motherboard. While the support list they give may not be up to date. Go to the BIOS update page. That will usually tell what the latest processors the board will handle. And your going to have to update the BIOS anyway to move to a newer processor.
@@metalplasticelectronics354 Oh ok ok thank you bud and yes cuz since I bought my PC in 2019 I'm not update my bios and the answer is because I'm some scare about it for possible a crashes or useless of my PC them
It is always a possibility. I’ve always had good luck with the Gigabyte BIOS updates. If it’s one of there boards with dual BIOS all is not lost if it does fail.
So, how did you manage to update the backup bios? If anything happens now - dualbios kicks in, overwrites your MAIN BIOS to factory settings (because back-up bios runs factory settings). This means you won't be able use your pc anymore, since it won't recognize the 5700x.
I have the 1600 tucked away in a safe spot, just in case. I've never looked into flashing the backup BIOS. There is probably a way to do it. Just thought it wasn't worth the effort to find out. This motherboard is going to be 6 years old soon. It's has run most every day in those 6 years. How much longer can the caps on the board go. So every day it boots up I consider a bonus day.
I just bought a AMD Ryzen 5 3500, and ig i do indeed need to update the bios for it. but i dont know where i'd find such thing, would you happen to know where I might be able to find it?
The manufacturer of the motherboard should have the BIOS update files on there web sight. You will need the model of the motherboard and maybe even the revision for some. Should be printed on the motherboard somewhere.

Make sure your BIOS is up to date. The ASRock support sight should list the BIOS needed to support the Ryzen 5000 series CPUs. I'm sure the RX7600 will be much faster than the RX570. But you might want to look into how many PCI lanes the RX7600 uses. The B350 boards are limited to PCI3 and I remember reading that some of the low-end newer graphics cards have a cut-down number of PCI lanes.

Hello. Thank you for the video. I also upgraded the processor on this motherboard to 5700x, but I'm worried that after a while this processor can kill the motherboard and die with it if the VRM power system cannot withstand such a long-term load. After a while, your assembly works stably?
It should be fine. The board was designed to handle the 1800x and that was a 95 watt processor, I think. The 5700x is only 65 watts. Even with PBO on, it’s probably pulling less than the 1800x did. The question is just how many years can the caps on the board last. I just hope at least one more year.
@@metalplasticelectronics354 Man, you really opened my eyes! I was so worried about this that I completely forgot about the 1800х. I also did a test and found out that the 5700x without overclocking consumes 78 watts, which is a little more than stated, but still less than 95. Thank you!!
No real way to tell. The capacitor life is heavily dependent on the temperature it operates at and the quality of the capacitor. Mine board is about to turn 6 years old. If it makes it to 7, I think that would be outstanding.

So this may be a dumb question, but I currently have BIOS F25. I would like to upgrade from a Ryzen 5 1600 to 5600x. Which it sounds like I need to be at BIOS T52d. My question is, can I go straight from F25 to T52d or do I need to do incremental BIOS updates in between? I've read mixed answers for this.
I didn’t do every one on the list. If a BIOS version said to make sure such and such version is done first, then I would do that version before moving up the stack. Like if it says make sure updated to BIOS f31 before installing f40. I would do that. At least that’s what I did. And it seem to work out well.
@@metalplasticelectronics354 Alright, so if I'm reading the description of T52d correctly, it doesn't say anything about installing any other specific BIOS first, so it sounds like I'll be good to jump straight from F25 to that.
@metalplasticelectronics354 hey, I'm in the same boat as the person you previously responded to. I updated the BIOS on my mobo (same as yours) from F23 to F31 today and read on the Gigabyte website that I had to update the EC FW update tool to a newer version before I could install F40 or I would have 4DIMM DDR compatibility issues. Did you need to update the EC FE tool as well? I'm hoping to install the same CPU you have as well.
@@Random_User_042 If you use 2 sticks of RAM, you do NOT need to download the EC FW tool. That's what I did and it works fine. If you have 4 sticks of RAM, you will need to download the tool. Honestly, I just bought new, faster, larger RAM (2 sticks) to avoid having to deal with the EC FW tool, because it sounds like that is a pain to deal with.
I'm pretty sure the athlon 950 is a bristol ridge family cpu. So I don't think you could use it to update the BIOS on the board to a level that would support the 5600x.
@@metalplasticelectronics354 I did not get the pass on notepad post install of ECFWUT in log. So I have not risked the update. I still use 1600 with one 8gb ram stick.

A couple of months I install a Patriot Viper Steel 64GB 3600 memory kit. It’s been working great. No problem running at 3600 with the Ryzen 5700X. Hopefully everything will go smooth.

No, I think the board will support up to the Ryzen 9 5950X. But if you are going to be gaming with it, I think I would put the money towards a video card. If the BIOS is the version that supports the 2000 series, then you will need to update it to work with the 5000 series. The manufacturer's website for the motherboard should give a list of supported CPUs. Most of the ones I've seen tell what minimum version of BIOS you must have installed.
you are using to much compound, you are wasteful and it makes a bit of a mess, it works, it won't create a problem, but the excess will deposit dust around the CPU, and it might affect a bit the cooling

The 5900X price sure was tempting. But I looked again at the VRM on this board and though that was just asking for trouble. I am delighted with the 5700X. I was needing the upgrade. I do hope AMD brings back the non-Pro threadripper. Everything with the Pro versions just seems so expensive.
i updated my bios to the same bios your using and my motherboard not readying the new cpu 7 5700x
5700g don't work with this mobo I try and never get into bios, only get the LED dram problem or cpu problem.
How much MHz of the RAM does this MB Support? In reddit I read sth about 2933 MHz. Is 3600 MHz RAM's maybe supported by this MB? THANKS.
I'm running 2 sticks at 3600, so it will at least do that.
hi, im still using asrock ab350m hdv motherboard with ryzen 5 1600 and i want buy ryzen 7 5700x, can i run cpu with my old motherboard?
Looks like their latest BIOS for the AB350M supports Vermeer and I'm pretty sure that is the 5000 series CPUs. I've haven't used an Asrock motherboard before. So I really not positive. Well I'm positive the 5700X is a vermeer CPU. It's so much faster than the 1600, it's sure worth a try.
My problem is to update bios. I have not a ram so i dont know if i can use a newer ram models can works or not? Or is necessary to buy an old ram first, then update bios and change for a newer ram and cpu?
well you need at least one DDR4 RAM stick to get the PC to boot and update the bios
I got the f50a bios still I'm wondering if I can just update to the latest or will I need to go one by one like some of the earlier ones? I'm looking to upgrade to the same for the meantime while I decide whether I want to stick with AMD or go Intel.
I only did some BIOS, just the ones listed as update to so and so BIOS before installing this BIOS.
I replaced my 1600 with a 5800x. Followed every step and for some reason it wouldn’t post but my gpu fans spun loud and really fast. I had the ab350 gaming 3 and the light bar on the right didn’t turn on, but I had a red light in the corner which I’m pretty sure meant cmos error. Any tips?
Have you tried to reset the cmos? That and make sure the processor is seated good. does seems strange that the gpu fans would run fast.
@@metalplasticelectronics354 thanks for replying. fortunately, i decided to look more into it today and found that if i updated to another verion of my bios, that it would work. so i took my new cpu, replaced it with the old one, updated bios and when i put my 5800x back in, surely enough it worked. still not sure why the gpu did that though.
Wonderful, 8 fast cores is great to have.
there is support for Ryzen 7 5800X3D could you do a upgrade vid ?
I don't have a 5800X3D, sorry.
Sorry I wanted to know if ryzen 5 7600 is compatible with gigabyte ab350 Gaming 3
The AB350 should be an AM4 socket motherboard. So the Ryzen 5 7600 will not fit it.
What ram is compatible with this mobo? I have this movo and cpu but not ram.. is it possible to update to use cpu like 5800x?
Im using atm 2x8 Gb 3600 G.Skill Ripjaws V and itsnworking fine with r7 3800x...and yes 5800x is supported...
Nice tuto, thank you. Does this upgrade allow the update of w10 22h2? This is the major problem with this motherboard...
I can't tell you for sure, I don't use Windows. It did have some options for fTPM when booting it the first time after the upgrade.
i’m wondering what version should i download if i have a a320m/ac, i got a ryzen 7 5700x. what version should i download?
If you are getting ready to replace CPUs I would follow the install list of BIOSs till the very latest.

Have you tried and cleared the CMOS? You might also try it with just one stick of RAM installed. Try each memory channel with the one stick and see. Of course, it might be that the 5500 is defective.
@@metalplasticelectronics354 This was done by a technical specialist and it still failed but he has experience with Asus motherboards and I just thought he missed something
So, if my motherboarf already running at the version required for ryzen 5000 series, do i have to do these steps ? Or just "plug and play" the new cpu on the motherboard ?
Currently running with BIOS version f54.
Yes, if it running a late enough BIOS you just have to install the CPU.
@metalplasticelectronics354 oh, great then. Don't need the hassle of dabbling with bios and windows.
If you are running Windows 11, make sure you read any TPM notices. I don't run Windows, but I think I remember something about setting TPM.

I'm pretty sure the 5600g is a Cezanne processor and the 51g BIOS should support it. There is a F51h now so you might want to try that.
Does motherboard AB350M-HDV is the same as this?
It's not the same. I think the AB350M-HDV is an Asrock board. But I think Asrock has been pretty good about updating BIOS for older main boards.
Could you tell me if the latest BIOS for this motherboard is compatible with the R5 1600?
Not sure about the latest. But the BIOS I used in the video is, that is the processor I was using to update the BIOS.

I've placed the 7 3700x into this mob. When turned on it get the red cpu light with no display. Could this be due to the bios needing updated?
Probably so. I think it required like the F40 or F41 for the 3000 series.
@@metalplasticelectronics354 Thank you. I saw the updates and downloaded them. How Is the bios to be updated when it doesn't have a display?
you have to put back in the old CPU. Have to have it boot to the bios to update it.
I bought a Gigabyte B450M Gaming for only 25€ last week, and 2x8GB 3600 cl19 for only 21€. Currently there's a Ryzen3 1200 inside, but later it wil get a faster CPU.
Very nice, I'm still using AB350-GAMING.
My mb bios is F7. Can I just update it to the latest one or do I need to update it on sequence? My cpu is 1500x and will upgrade to 5500
I mostly did mine in sequence. Gigabyte's BIOS list is pretty good about saying which ones have to be done. I just always follow that. And it went well.
Can i upgrade ryzen 5 5600g and lexar 3200 mhz 16 ram using this motherboard plz tell me brother help me
The 5600G should work fine. I'm running 3600 memory on it right now. I don't remember the brand right off hand.
Hey! I have the AB350M 4 Pro 2.0 AS ROCK, I wondered if i could upgrade my old GPU RX570 to a RX7600 and CPU Ryzen 5 2600 to a Ryzen 7 5700. Do yu think that works? Also i have a 5 year old cooler, maybe i should buy a new one too?
Thank you in advance :)

ASUS shows the PRIME B350-PLUS as supporting the 5700X since their 6042. So should work with even later BIOS.

Thank you!!
but if you turn on the PBO mode, then in the load the consumption is already 124 watts, quite a lot.
No real way to tell. The capacitor life is heavily dependent on the temperature it operates at and the quality of the capacitor. Mine board is about to turn 6 years old. If it makes it to 7, I think that would be outstanding.
please tell me for Ram for this motherboard ? i used corsair ram but show 2100mzh and only 1 ram shows windows, i have ryzen 1600 Ram 8gb adata i want update ram ?

Once BIOS updated to F51g should support all the 5000 series CPUs.
I did f31 before I installed, I think it was 40 or 41. Then I went to the one that supported the 5000 series. If I remember right.

I just turned on PBO and that was it. Didn't really spend any time trying to adjust any settings.
Want a 5600x. Have a athlon am4 950... will the bios update work? Or will it brick?
I'm pretty sure the athlon 950 is a bristol ridge family cpu. So I don't think you could use it to update the BIOS on the board to a level that would support the 5600x.

No, I think the board will support up to the Ryzen 9 5950X. But if you are going to be gaming with it, I think I would put the money towards a video card.
